Thanks Steve an excellent video. I have a level entry scroll saw which I have found quite frustrating to use. Here in the UK the Jet is currently on special offer with almost a 25% saving, so I was interested in upgrading. Your helpful video confirmed my decision to buy one. I appreciated the detailed and precise explanation and the demonstration of the saw in use. Thank you for your passion and taking the time to record this review. I look forward to watching some of your other productions.
I finally outgrew my Porter Cable and went to Woodcraft and compared the Jet and Excalibur 21 side by side. We performed blade changes on both including spiral blades and nickel tests on both. both past the nickel test on high but we had a very hard time getting the Jet upper mechanism to clamp down on the blade especially the spiral blade. I went there truly wanting to love the Jet; however, there were too many what ifs. It was an agonizing decision; but after an hour with the salesman I decided to go with the scroll saw that Jet was trying to emulate (or as the salesman said, "patent infringe") and dropped $900 on the Excalibur...
Yeah 200$ ??? This saw is about 900$. In the video she says 'mid priced' so I may have my model numbers mixed up but Jet is certainly at the upper end of the spectrum price wise.
I was asking the same question as you. I didn't review the hegner. I'm looking at getting the Hegner or the Jet. and wanted to know which one performs better. I have seen her other videos on hegner, know I see she is using the jet.
I've used both some. I personally think the DeWalt is the best bang for the buck. The Jet looked so promising and has some great features but I was amazed at how much vibration came through the arm. It's like a mini jackhammer. Nearly all the killer scrolls away guys I know prefer and use the dewalt some Excalibur and none were impressed enough with the Jet to switch. At least not yet.

After seeing this I'm now thinking about getting a scroll saw! Great explanation!
You know that all you would do with it is cut out varying profiles of Weenz.
***** YES!!!
This was helpful-thanks!

Am I mistaken, I seem to remember you doing video extolling the virtues of an Hegner saw. Perhaps you could confirm please.
Then you DEFINITELY have the best bang for the buck! That's a fantastic saw for $200 especially!
$200?

Sounds like it might be a little loud? Or maybe that was just in the angled cutting.
How does the head tilt? - what it the process?
You like this saw more than your Hegner?
Same question??
+Chad Chad well I bought a hegner based off your review on it. I was looking at the jet saws before the hegner. I'm just looking for a honest opinion.

+Chad Chad i go the hegner and I love it.
That's what I was thinking. Seems like I don't see any bad things said about Hegner other then the cost. Thanks for your reply and time.
It looks the same as the Excalibur.
Nope. Not even similar. The Excalibur is MUCH better.
J. B. Brackett You've used both?

J. B. Brackett Thanks. I have the Dewalt. I picked it up from an Auction for $200. I've been pleased with it.
its the most expensive scroll saw at Home depot at $1000. Way more than the Dewalt $600 which most people recommend.
