Tips:
- Take out as much cash you think you will need for the entire trip! On a higher end we would spend about 100 CUC per day on drinks, taxis, tours, food etc. It definitely adds up and goes quickly so be sure to budget!
- We filled out/purchased our Visas and certification at the airport. We flew with Delta so make sure you confirm that you can do that the day of with your airline.
- Download this app! Trust me it will save you in so many ways. The map on here is amazing and its all "offline" (Just type in "Cuba" in the app store on your phone and its the green one, looks like this) : play.google.com/store/apps/de...

*Amazing place. Super nice couple that rents it. They gave us a phone that works with their numbers in case and everything is super secure. Great location too!
Places we went to:
- Plaza De La Cathedral: This is perfect for a photo-op plus it has an inlet street with the Cafe I mentioned and a bunch of resturants
- Plaza Vieja: Super pretty, definitely go here for lunch. Great views and a ton of restaurant options with live music.
- Parque Central / Paseo Del Prado : This is definitely a must see! You will find the Capitol building, great hotels with rooftop views and a plethora of classic cars to look at or pick one to ride in.
- Museum of Revolution : This is a great way to cool off and kill some time. It was once home to Presidents and is beyond beautiful as it was designed by Tiffany & Co.
- Hotel National- This is a super fancy hotel with amazing views! We stopped to check it out as a lot of our famous favorites have stayed there. It's definitely a taxi distance away from Old Habana though.
Bars:
Hotel Inglaterra- This is an amazing rooftop bar with an incredible view! I had my share of sangria's here :)
Floridita- One of Hemingway's must stop for a Daiquiri. I really loved these but keep in mind they are 6 CUC a piece compared to 3-4 CUC most other places.
La Bodeguita De Medio- Hemingway Bar #2. This was his go-to spot for Mojitos! Beware this is a tourist trap and you might be drinking your mojito on the street depending on the time of the day.
Cafe:
Cafe De O'Reilly- This was our go-to for breakfast and morning coffee. Try the Cafe Bombon, it was my favorite.
Dinner:
La Guarida- We found this to be our favorite spot. The restaurant requires reservations, but if you forget like us, you can go up to the roof for amazing sunset views and the best food we had the whole trip!
Tips:
- The classic cars you see are Taxi's and cost more than the regular cars. You can however rent one for around 20 CUC for an hour city tour. Definitely worth it. Plus they make for great photos ;)
- If you are staying in Old Habana, the entire area of Habana Vieja and everything I mentioned is super walkable.

Totally agree, some of the nicest people we've met on our travels! My husband and I went to Cuba the end of December and loved it! We were in Havana and then hopped over to Trinidad!

I'm first and second generation Cuban and have always wanted to go see Cuba for myself but being cuban and living in America, the laws make it difficult. It's such a shame that cuba is such a beautiful country with such rich culture but the government power is what makes it so poor. A doctor makes the same wage as a garbage man. Every family gets rations of food every week depending on the family size (and its never enough) 3 eggs a week 1 can of milk for a family of 4.
But I'm really glad you enjoyed it and saw the beauty of Cuba and it's culture. You really did a great job showing it's beauty through the camera! Thank you for the beautiful glimpse 💕 CUBA LIBRE 🇨🇺
JeanineElizabeth you can't blame Cuba's government for the fact that Cuba is poor. Cuba is poor cause USA's embargo. It's very difficult to be the only socialist country in the world. sorry for my English I'm Greek. And let me inform you that we suffer too because Usa Germany and these capitalist emperors.
Castro's revolution in Cuba began before the US embargo with Cuba began. The US stopped diplomatic relations with Cuba because Cuba was making trades with the soviet union which was not an ally of the United States and JFK deemed the Soviet Union dangerous and a threat. The government and Fidel's revolution is part of the problem.

My Family is from Cuba. But I have never been. I was born in Miami, Florida.. so, this was a nice way to see my family's homeland. Now with Castro finally gone, we may go one day! :)

I've heard many bad things about airbnb, so I'm really hesitant. Can we have a video about that (reviews, tips, advice, etc)? :)
It was my first time using airbnb and I had no issues. So this experience is all I have to go off of so far in regards to airbnb! I'll keep you updated if something changes :)
HCani i've used it a bunch of times, and there have been 1-2 bad experiences. honestly the only thing i can recommend is read the reviews!! don't just assume people are complaining, take their advice
HCani but personally i like it better than a hotel because of how local you are and you really get the authentic feel of the city
I've done Airbnb so many times! but yes i've heard bad things, dont be hesitant, always read the reviews and always speak to the hosts before hand so you have a level of certainty before you arrive at the country :) xx
I've used it quite a few times now in multiple countries and I've had really great experiences! I just always avoid booking anything that doesn't have any reviews and I make sure to read all of the reviews first as well.

Anyone who is planning on traveling to Cuba and are coming from America; don't forget to exchange your US dollars to Euros or Canadian Dollars before exchanging to CUC in Cuba. US Dollars to CUC is a 13% currency exchange fee. It's greatly recommended exchanging from Euros or Canadian dollars, the fee is 2%-3%. Happy travels~

So I am actually from Cuba! And it brings tears to my eyes to be able to see my country because I haven't been back for years myself. My dad just recently went to go see my family and I just wanted to let you know that although Cuba is beautiful, they treat tourists so well because its such a huge part of the economy! However, I encourage that if you go, support as many local businesses as you can. As well as you are being treated, the people who actually live there are suffering, specially in La Havana. The government is still oppressive towards the people, and I feel like that's not going to change in a matter of minutes, but I urge you to give your money to the people of Cuba, not to these huge establishments because they only benefit the government, who doesn't give to the people. I am telling you this from second hand. I lived there for over a third of my life, and my family still currently lives there. The poverty is immense and people struggle every day to survive. It is a GORGEOUS place full of culture and music, but take time to learn why it is the way it is. ALSO!!! Next time visit Veradero Beach! Its one of the most gorgeous beaches in the Caribbean. Also! the province of Santiago de Cuba!
