    We can all agree that whole life policies can be terribly structured as well as any IUL. When structured & funded correctly, both could bring great benefit the clients! It's all is based on how well educated the agent is/was. Whether you believe in whole life, ul, vul, or iul, the goal should be the same to protect families, build their cash value, and leave a legacy generations. I think it's pointless to say one is so much better than the other. They all have pros & cons.
    Although i haven't been in the industry for long, i strive to be as transparent as possible and follow Oregon cash flow example!

      Thanks for the comment. Love the transparency! We work with James. See the below podcast.

      Yes, we can agree that whole life policies can be terribly structured as well. The difference though, is the whole life policy, even if poorly designed, will eventually be bailed out over time and it will be there when the client/family needs it. A poorly designed IUL will most likely lapse, leaving the client/family with nothing. You're right, the goal should always be to protect families, and one aspect of that, is to make sure they're educated about how these products actually work, because most people who purchase IUL have absolutely no idea what they're actually putting their money into and what the risks are, which I think we can agree that Steve does a really good job at!

    what happens when an insurance company doesn’t have a cap rate. Nationwide is a company that my friend is selling that he pitched on me is that IUL wins because they don’t have a cap rate.

  • @vangustia

    Why not show the MId Point of the IUL?

  • @vangustia

    Steve do you understand Net Amount at Risk? If you don't explain it you cannot talk about cost of insurance going up in an IUL.

    i have 2 Par WL policies(Mass n Penn) and 1 IUL with NorthAmer I am devistated by the performance of my IUL! cap rate tops out at 6.7% my current irr after what 7 years is prob around 4% maybe less def not more . smh I will say the loan provisions seems to be amazing ...much better than my wL policies because the loan rate is simply lower I think if i left my crediting in the FIXed account I would fair better or the same to the variable loan S&P500 index which is sad ...the Par WL is literally the rabbit in the turtle(IUL) and the rabbit race we know who won that race I think this is very much the same story in this IUL vs Par WL thing

      @IBCGlobalInc  10 месяцев назад

      Wow, thank you for your comment and sharing this info. Much appreciated. I would ask your agent with North American if the Face amount can be reduced to the non-MEC minimum. I would also ask to stop or reduce premium payments to prevent a MEC if needed.
      This might reduce the expenses and help the cash value grow at a faster pace. I would request inforce illustrations first to see what it will look like before making any changes.

  • @vangustia

    It was not designed correctly. It would be like designing a whole life policy with all base premium and no pua.

  • @CdotForbes13

    Wouldn't a good strategy be to have a whole life policy and a IUL. The whole life for the liquidity/access to cash plus the guarantees and the IUL for more of a safer option than putting money in the market but still with some exposure (as long as it is structured correctly meaning least COI and max funded). Both serve a slightly different purpose.

    • @IBCGlobalInc
      @IBCGlobalInc  3 года назад

      Hey Chris, good to hear from you. Nothing wrong with that strategy at all. IUL's definiltey have potential. Whole Life is more of a fixed assets (Is what it is).

    • @hanswhite
      @hanswhite 11 месяцев назад

      With an IUL you are never actually participating in the market. Instead the life insurance company buys options on a particular index. I think whole life is better than IUL from a savings/bond perspective. With IUL there are years where you can get a negative return due to fees. Cash Value Life Insurance should never be considered an investment and I hate when people classify it as such. If you don't understand options and you bought an IUL product, well unfortunately you made a huge mistake. I know you posted this a couple years ago but I hope you did your research before buying.

    Great video, Steve! Of course someone might point out that dividend rates on whole life policies have generally declined since 2008. It would be great to compare this IUL case with a whole life policy issued in 2008 with similar cash flows. Thank you./Warren

      Thanks Warren. We can work on creating that comparison. We've struggled to get our hands on historical IUL's. We'll keep digging. Appreciate the support.

    Steve to do a proper audit, I’d get the details on this policy. To perform a PROPER audit, we’d want to know what the Guideline Single Premium is, as well Guideline Level/Annual premium, what the 7-pay was, and premiums paid to date.
    The surrender in year one looks a little low, not sure what company that was written with, but it looks like no term rider was included to help drive down the cost. The surrender is directly tied to the “target premium”
    Also why is there a hesitation on a 1035? If you get with the company and they have newer products, I’ve had some companies allow the agent to volunteer their commissions to transfer into a new product and not charge the surrender on an internal 1035.

    • @IBCGlobalInc
      @IBCGlobalInc  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the comment and additional info! Fully agree! For the 1035 exchange, if an agent can elect not to take commissions to improve cash value, that would work great. We 1035 exchanges sometimes make sense. We like to analyze the guaranteed & non-guaranteed values before making any moves.
      Thanks again!

    What company is that IUL? That is a bad company or policy. That might be a MOO policy. Do not conflate all IUL's as the same just like not all WL companies are the same.

    To max cv it should have been his designed for increasing DB switching it to let's say to a level around 65 with a min DB max cv? What was the point of him setting it with a level db especially if all he is looking for supplemental income other than higher commission? I don't care what year it was that was crazy to project 9.61%

      Thanks for the comment Sam. We'll have to check with the agent. Unfortunately, it is difficult to get our hands on a lot of historical IUL's. We'd love to see some historical ones that have been designed well and have performed. Thanks again for the comment.

    GADGETS! The financial industry tries to produce "new" gadgets so they have something new to sell. I remember a couple of years back attending 2 different "dinner" presentations for this product. We talked about it with our Financial Advisor (and yes, we have one of the good ones). He told us it was the "new" wave and everybody is jumping up and down about it. He also told us the phase will pass.

      That's an interesting comment he made. Will be interesting to see what happens with time. IUL sales continue to increase when we analyze industry statistics.

      @@IBCGlobalInc Correct me if I'm wrong but IUL's have not been around long enough to pass the test of time. Whole Life, however, has been.

    What was his investment strategy within the IUL? Did he invest 100% in S&P 500 or did he diversify with other markets? The main issue with IUL now is that the illustration can only be ran based on S&P 500 without considering the other markets that can be invested

    • @johnp7739
      @johnp7739 3 года назад +1

      That's not the main issue. Markets are highly correlated over time. It's very unlikely some other major index will double the S&P's performance or anything. The issue is policy design and insurance costs eating up profits. The S&P 500 has done VERY well since 2008. The owner of the policy just didn't get much of it and his policy had too many expenses.

      Thanks for the comment Darrick. Sorry for the late reply. This one, I believe, was 100% S&P 500. As John P. mentioned, the S&P 500 had done well, but the expenses were too high.
