you can change what spawners spawn by using a mod (that is not updated for 1.6.6) called spawner gui by risugami (i think) if you right click on a spawner you can choose what it spawns thus allowing you to spawn "monsters" as its called through the mod or "steve" by everyone else.
those were human mobs, an old monster from the creative version of minecraft. by pressing G while playing you used to be able to spawn them. they have since been disabled, but the code still remains, so a mob spawner and a map editor, both of which would be used on a custom map, can can spawn them. they just walk in imperfect circles until a player comes near them, then they attack the nearest player
@kli365 There isn't that option in the custom painterly pack used in this video. It's an old unused mob called "player". They used the spawner gui mod to make it spawn them.
For those of you who are new to the game the steve is actually a mob coded into the game simply named as "monster" and cannot spawn without programs such as MCedit.
the "steve" monster is here by default and it's actually named "monster". you can use McEdit to change the monster that spawner will spawn just make it to a "monster" spawner.
"Steve" is a mob called Monster that was never used in minecraft, it can only be used from third party things such as mob spawner mods and single player commands. Thats what the deafault skin monster was.
The human, is a mob. If you got singleplayer commands, you go do /spawn monster and it will actually spawn a human, se it's not textured or anything. You can put it on a mobspawner too.
i like how the blocks at 16:02 were arranged just like the painterly diamond sword, and he was using a painterly pack... It's a painterly inside of painterly
@nibble3450 that theory could not be true for these reasons: Zombie pigman are passive agressive even when spawned and if you see the steves attacked without warning Zombie pigmen squeal when hit There is a mob you can spawn called monster that fits the same description of what CP saw Zombie pigmen do a lot of damage when the things that attacked didnt do that much
I looked it up. the human (not actually steve, but just a human with the default player skin) was in the game in alpha, was removed, but a human spawner could still be edited into the game with a map editor or mod. they were completely removed in 1.8, and even if a human spawner was in the game, it would be blank and nothing will come out of it.
When notch remove the original Humans (the steves you saw) he didn't remove any of the code, except for the spawning code. In multiplayer if you have bukkit or single player with single player commands, if you type "/spawnmob Monster". With mods, you can set monster spawners to spawn Humans, that is why you have them.
@turrobby and now its actually called Monster, first it was called the Human mob,he was doing nothing, just running and jumping aimlessly.now that they are deleted they are attacking you if you mod/hack them in the game
Steve is a mob in the vanilla version of the game so he isn't used at the moment and if you look with SinglePlayer Command, if you say 'spawn monster' you'll pretty much spawn Steve. ;)
It's not a reskin or anything like that, there is a mob in the game if you have command called monster and if you do /spawn monster then it spawns a zombie with a Steve skin
Captainsparklez its because in the older version of minecraft you used to be able to spawn steve/humans with single player commands. He must have used the spawner modifier mod to change the spawning mob.
@kli365 the Steve?'s no there actual enemys. their just unable to spawn in the actual game with out a spawner. they're called "Monster" in the games code.
When you log in to Minecraft again.. in the launcher click on options and "Force update"... This will replace "minecraft.jar" in the bin folder therefore removing any mods you have installed as well. However your world saves, texture pack ect. will remain the same.
Since Beta 1.8, Humans can no longer be spawned in game even with a map editor or mob spawner, the mob spawner will appear blank, no model will be inside, and no mob appears. Humans used to be spawned by using a map editor or mod. Taken from the minecraft Wiki
steve was a new mob added to minecraft (also called moster) just like giants they only spawn through single player commands or mob spawners (risugami's mob spawner gui)
@STPfani Ummm no.They were actual humans . If you download spawner gui by risugami and somehow get a spawner you can spawn humans.but they are like zombies but dont burn in daylight
I think most people already know it, but what does CaptainSparklez use in Minecraft to get that lay-out, which has save slots on the left and all the blocks on the right? If anyone could tell me, that would be really helpfull! Thanks!
wow man how can you think in all that wais of solving problems and I think you don´t forgot any box but one question for what was all that little green thinks that you was colecting all the video??
The 'Steves' are called Herobrine you Minecraft genius!! They were an old idea, but Notch deleted them. After a while, someone found out about them and made them into a mod.
You neaded the iron to make a bucket at 2:13! You could gather the water, make lava in obsidian and go to the chamber that had more slime orbs. Thumbs up so he cane see! :)
he sparklez, i really want to start a minecraaft lets play of some sort but im having trouble finding a good program to record voice and capture minecraft footage at the same time. your help is greatly appreciated.
The Steves were added in Classic many years ago and the entites are still in the minecraft code, they just can not spawn, their official name is "monster"
@kli365 if they were, they'd do ALOT more damage and would still carry a gold sword i think they're probably from a mod that was used when making this and cpt. sparklez doesnt have it installed
KotaRio5 they couldn't have been zombies, you see the zombie skin throughout the map. It's not a Steve skin. The giant structure that the last door was on is a giant diamond sword too
You know, to scale that wall with water, I think what was intended was for you to place the water, then go back down to the infinite water pool to get more. =P Your way was fine, but I think they would have giving you a single thing of water instead of infinite.
I loved how at the end the really peaceful minecraft music came on :)
This is the best one you have done yet in my opinion :)
Epic. You and the yogscast are so awesome
"And if thou gaze long into Steve, He will also gaze into thee".
@firestar3452 It's for the TP that's recommended, which only works with 1.5. Also, it doesn't cost to update.
Your comments during game-play (especially fighting) are so amusing XD
you can change what spawners spawn by using a mod (that is not updated for 1.6.6) called spawner gui by risugami (i think) if you right click on a spawner you can choose what it spawns thus allowing you to spawn "monsters" as its called through the mod or "steve" by everyone else.
@2and2makes3 You mean the monsters are called steves :P

Steve spawner was hilarious! anyways , i loved the videos and i am looking forward to watch some more of your videos. thumbs up.
I love your use of music. Also, Steve is coded into the game, just not implemented, like giants.
@Slimer1998 The creature spawning from the monster spawner is called steve. Steve is the default player skin.
the "steve" monster is here by default and it's actually named "monster". you can use McEdit to change the monster that spawner will spawn just make it to a "monster" spawner.
"Steve" is a mob called Monster that was never used in minecraft, it can only be used from third party things such as mob spawner mods and single player commands.
Thats what the deafault skin monster was.
Nice vids you make, also a nice voice. You rock man! Thumps up, and you are better than the yogcasts for me
The human, is a mob. If you got singleplayer commands, you go do /spawn monster and it will actually spawn a human, se it's not textured or anything. You can put it on a mobspawner too.
i like how the blocks at 16:02 were arranged just like the painterly diamond sword, and he was using a painterly pack... It's a painterly inside of painterly
the 'Steve' is actually a mob notch made a long time a go called 'monster', it can be spawned using a mod to select the spawner mob.
13:00 "What is this?" This is madness!
@DEM0CO Not unless sparklez had a mod for it steves are in the code and was used ages ago perhaps a spawner was just made to use that code
@DionEngels I'm backin' up, backin' up, backin' up, backin' up, 'cause my daddy taught me good. (Backing up my save)
@TheBiglittle123 the steve is a mob that notch disable, you can spawn one using creative mod
@DEM0CO No they weren't, steve is actually an enemy which you can get into the game using MCEdit.
@nibble3450 that theory could not be true for these reasons:
Zombie pigman are passive agressive even when spawned and if you see the steves attacked without warning
Zombie pigmen squeal when hit
There is a mob you can spawn called monster that fits the same description of what CP saw

@MrPalawolf Slimeballs have no use yet.
But in this map Slimeballs counts as Points.
@2and2makes3 You created a awesome map so therefore you are awesome
Forgive me for asking but what texture pack and skin are you using?? :) sorry, I'm a new watcher, love the videos btw
When notch remove the original Humans (the steves you saw) he didn't remove any of the code, except for the spawning code. The mob at 12:48 is called Monster/human not Steve.
They are in the game but they don't spawn normally like Giant don't spawn normally.
Steve is a mob in the vanilla version of the game so he isn't used at the moment and if you look with SinglePlayer Command, if you say 'spawn monster' you'll pretty much spawn Steve. ;)
Omg this video he is so young brings so many memories :')
@charlierobertbint a mod named spawnergui is used to change them to "monster" spawners
Steve is in the vanilla
if you use some mods such as spawner GUI or ssp commands he goes by the name of monster.
@kli365 the Steve?'s no there actual enemys. their just unable to spawn in the actual game with out a spawner. they're called "Monster" in the games code.

I love how the music is timed so perfectly :L
12:48 you can get giants too. If u use the SpawnerGUI u see. In the Spawner GUI they are just 'Monster'
15:52 "rainbow bridge" like off zelda...is that the reference? If so I love you that much more!
Since Beta 1.8, Humans can no longer be spawned in game even with a map editor or mob spawner, the mob spawner will appear blank, no model will be inside, and no mob appears. Humans used to be spawned by using a map editor or mod. Taken from the minecraft Wiki

Great episode, I just subscribed to you and this is the first vid I watched from you. I hope the other ones are as good as well.
@zittertje You can use a program like MCEdit to change your spawn point.
I think most people already know it, but what does CaptainSparklez use in Minecraft to get that lay-out, which has save slots on the left and all the blocks on the right?
If anyone could tell me, that would be really helpfull! Thanks!
you can spawn any mob from a spawner it just depends how you do it.
steves were removed but you can hack them
@97sms they are windows i think, but his texture pack makes it look like that.
Click the link in the description that is entitled; "Download this map". On that forum post, there's a link to download the texture pack too. ;)
@SuperNever09 no, because zombie pigmen only attack you if you attack them
wow man how can you think in all that wais of solving problems and I think you don´t forgot any box but one question for what was all that little green thinks that you was colecting all the video??
@JonathonW2011 Just cause they come out of spawners doesn't mean they're enemies, pigs are the default mob for spawners
the Steve is a character called Monster.if you have single player commands type spawnlist it says there Monster.Spawn it and Steve comes up.
@paulins2012 it's not a hero brine spawner it's just a brine spawner
13:27 they are monsters, you can spawn them in the Single player commands
i love how he kept the music playing when he fast forwerded
Hay Sparkles if you press the "o" button then you can toggle the too many items mod on or off
That kind of looks like the old hatreds texture pack but without some of the textures. I like it:D
nice armor also steve was a deleted mob that was spouse to drop string
The 'Steves' are called Herobrine you Minecraft genius!! They were an old idea, but Notch deleted them. After a while, someone found out about them and made them into a mod.
no they are just called monster and you can spawn them if you have single player commands I've spawn one before
the steves are a mob unused in game just called monster, you can only get them with single player commands and with a mob spawner editor.
You neaded the iron to make a bucket at 2:13! You could gather the water, make lava in obsidian and go to the chamber that had more slime orbs.
Thumbs up so he cane see! :)
@DzikaKostkaToaletowa it is a texture pack used only for this map
lets organize our inventory real quickly... -moves the flint and steel over one space- there we go!
why jordan WHYYYYYY.
those steves are whats labeled "Mob"s. if you get the API spawnlist and spawnerGUI mob you can spawn them. with mob spawners.
"Let's organize our inventory really quickly" *moves flint and still* "that's good."
he sparklez, i really want to start a minecraaft lets play of some sort but im having trouble finding a good program to record voice and capture minecraft footage at the same time. your help is greatly appreciated.
A Steve spawner is like a thing notch put in right? Like a mob in the way early days of minecraft?
That steve stuff was crazy!!
The Steves were added in Classic many years ago and the entites are still in the minecraft code, they just can not spawn, their official name is "monster"
@SuperCoverMania No, Herobrine has glowing eyes, but otherwise looks like Steve. The uh, things that spawned did't have glowing eyes.
@ReccaBlaze1 that was the original basis that all the monsters were created off of
@asddsa76 Steve is an unused mob; a mob thats in the coding but cant spawn in the wild.
In other words, its the unused Human mob
@BryannaFTW Its a custom Paintlery
@kli365 if they were, they'd do ALOT more damage and would still carry a gold sword
i think they're probably from a mod that was used when making this and cpt. sparklez doesnt have it installed
The Steves are called monsters if you have single player commands you can spawn it but they delete it after awhile
KotaRio5 they couldn't have been zombies, you see the zombie skin throughout the map. It's not a Steve skin. The giant structure that the last door was on is a giant diamond sword too
its from the gui spawner mod its caled a monster (steve) theyll attack other mods for you i think too
you can hold shift and click to instantly get stuff out of chests without dragging it
steve (the humans) are programed int the game by notch, but has not been used. you can only meet them by modded mob-spawners or singelplayercommands
You know, to scale that wall with water, I think what was intended was for you to place the water, then go back down to the infinite water pool to get more. =P Your way was fine, but I think they would have giving you a single thing of water instead of infinite.
For those who want to know the Steve spawner was a slime spawner only retextured!
Jordan's voice is awesome when your hungover.
If you hold shift and press on the item in the chest it will automatically start a stack in your inventory! and vice versa
I don't get why you don't just pick up the water as you swim up, because you can pick up the water from beneath it. Its much more efficient
the "steve" are not steve they are "monster" you could spawn them with spc they STILL EXIST AND ARE NOT HEROBRINE btw what's the texturepack?
@RondiakN I know that but those were slimes because i got slimeball from killin one. I've played that map.
@Gannon171 Yea that's a good one I I don't think it's an HD texture the one he using
The steves were Planned to be NPCs but were removed. There still in the games code though.
Dude, with SPC type Spawn Monster and it will spawn steves. That's what it does for some reason.
@kli365 if you read at minecraft wiki ..... it says that u can use inv edit to get human spawners
CaptainSparklez, just out of curiosity, how should we contact you if we have suggestions for future custom map playthroughs?
One of risugmi's mods lets you right click on a mob spawner and let you change it to anything including steve
the humans are actually "monsters" and do not need a mod to spawn and i think that the only way to get a spawner is via inv-edit/sp commands
@DEM0CO No, it's not. Where's the sword? Why is it Steve? Derp.
