Really... you can't even begin to compare them. Neil is one of my very favorite artists as are the Dandys. Enjoy them for what they are. They can't possibly be compared.
The original is a hell of a classic and one of my favorite folk rock songs of all time, and this version is a great way to bring that classic into the modern world and transform it with a modern groove. Nothing beats the original, but this version sure as hell doesn't insult it.
I'm going to go way out on a limb here and say it would be sad to hear CSN sing it without the guy that originally wrote the tune and became the only legit solo artist after the breakup of the original 4
50 years ago today. 5/4/70. Never forget.

I'd have to disagree. This version is better than the original
I am addicted to this band every song is so good cant name a bad one
They've got a few turds, but overall still a powerhouse.
Everyone has a few turds to get out. That’s why we have a hole designed to get rid of it.
Yep. That first album was pretty bad. But the second one took off and they've never slowed down since. One of the best bands ever IMO.
First album was great. Odditorium was poor
@@thomasharman250 wow firstcalbum was SICK everything after 13 tales....is. eh?.....great covers of this and Wreck of Edmundfitzgeraled tho
This song is so good, and so poignant, it's hard to breathe when I hear it. Epic.
Great Track from the Dandys
The guitar in this always reminded me of wicked games by Chris Isaak. Very melodic
I love the Blue Monday-esque backing electronics.
Warhols giving Neil Young the Mazzy Star treatment... I love it. I kept waiting for Hope Sandoval to start singing.
This is speed metal for MAzzy Star. And WAY too upbeat...
Unfortunately, i remember this well. Song brought me to tears. Perfect.
This is perfect on a good weed high. Relevant but you won't stress over the situation.
Well said....well said!
Stunning cover
Paul Weller did a live cover during one of his early 2000’s tours - talk about fookin’ brilliant! Angry and musical -
I think this is a good tribute to the original and helps keep the memory of what happened at Kent State alive
Fuckin'~A.
Great version of this song. Saw CSN&Y do it in concert a week after the shooting at Kent State.
I was born in Ohio; now a west coaster, but visited the Kent State campus a month after the incident.
Angelic sounds
"Amen!"
I like danby,s song is favorite s
And li is my favorite style
Takes me away on a fluffy cloud
so relaxing
Nothing relaxing about the theme
Buona cover. Dandy Warhols sottovalutati.
ce sons peut reveiller les morts
The 20 dislkes are from those Gaurdsmen's kids.
@zombiesmasher I knew I wasn't the only one who heard the Blue Monday keyboards.
45 years ago today..
Sounds like "Stop draggin' my heart around" by Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks
I never noticed that before, but I think you're right! Well....Ohio was out beforehand, so it'd kinda' be the other way around, but...yeah!
cool beans
Hopefully we don't see this again this summer and fall..
I does sound different, but its still pretty good.
Portland dodged that scenario. It may still happen depending how hard you want to push it.
Roadkill on heroin? HTF does that work?
Chris Isaak should have covered this.
A one plane
It's an interesting cover I guess, but I'm an old fogey and it doesn't sound right coming from anybody but CSN.
&Y * jesus how could you leave that out
I'm going to go way out on a limb here and say it would be sad to hear CSN sing it without the guy that originally wrote the tune and became the only legit solo artist after the breakup of the original 4
A protest song. This doesn't sound angry enough.
Lacks the anger of the original. The usual excellent musicianship but this version is too baked to be a protest song.
Bad, bad cover. This is supposed to be a protest song not a roadkill on heroin
I Love this song but also totally appreciate your viewpoint as starkly valid.
this is godawful. the dandy warhols have butchered a fucking classic
Fuck you
Godawful??? Says a guy who might still be blasting 'When the levee breaks' for the 20 millionth time through his CraigPioneer?
@@thomasharman250 lmao thanks for reminding me I made this comment 11 years ago
You are welcome. Glad to see you're still up and kickin'
