Had the pista GP RR for a week and sold it on marketplace. While it was very plush and felt high quality in my hands, on my head was another story. It was very loud and almost had a tin can like echo to it. At speed I would get all sorts of whistling and vibration like noises. Anything above 100 and I would get a whooshing noise that would make my ears ring for 2 hours post ride. After selling it I picked up a Bell Race Star Flex DLX and I have to say I like it way more than the pista. Photochromic visor, magnetic pads, extremely quiet, way better ventilation, and a way bigger field of view. For half the price the Race Star feels and rides like a helmet that should cost twice as much as the pista. I took an L on the AGV but I’m happy I went with the race Star at the end of the day.
@@gratz141 yeah, I use the Alpine MotoGP edition race earplugs. They helped with the noise but the Pista still didn’t do it for me. The whooshing noises made a sort of vibratory resonance that just made it uncomfortable to ride in. Noise aside, you could still feel the turbulence that the wind made as it entered the helmet. Everybody says “ohh it’s a race helmet, they are loud” but my Bell Race Star and Scorpion EXO R1 Air are race helmets too and they don’t have the brain rattling noise issues I experienced with the Pista GP RR. It’s a shame because the fit and finish of the Pista were very nice, but honestly, for $1800 you don’t get nearly the amount of features you should. The Bell Race Star comes with a transitioning photochromic face shield and the entire face shield has the pinlock anti fog gel coating on the inside, it has magnetic cheek pads so no dealing with snap buttons that wear out after removing the pads so many times, and the button at the end of the chin strap is magnetic so no trying to mess with a snap button with thick gloves on. All that for less than half the price of the Pista. As far as the Scorpion EXO R1 Air, it is FIM homologated, and it has an air bladder system in the cheek pads where you put the helmet on and pump up this little button inside the chin bar and it inflates the air sacks to give you a tight fit for less buffeting while racing. All that for a quarter of the cost of the Pista. Plus both those helmets have a five star SHARP rating and are just as aerodynamic as the Pista, both having been developed in a wind tunnel. Some riders won’t care about the noise, but seeing as I ride pretty fast on the freeways and my home tracks layout is very high speed, I just couldn’t handle it.
@@HighGrade_FireBlade I really want the agv just because of the exposed carbon. Alpine stars also released a helmet with my looks. But I just might go with shori x15
I have the same ear and face problem with my Shoei modular 2!! I took the liner out and trimmed where the pressure points were and added padding where it wasn't touching my face, basically tailoring it and now it is perfect. Way better than my AGV Sportmodular
I just learned the worth of a helmet for my first helmet upgrade. I originally bought a Sedici to go autocrossing and continue karting and it just kinda ended up as my first motorcycle helmet because I had it and decided to get my license on a whim because I had my dad's bike and a broken car. Just uograded to the RF1400 and the jump in quality was massive. It was a good amount of money for a broke college student like me but what i guess are considere mid level helmets (that 500 to 800$ range) are pretty worth the comfort, protection, and durability. Only got 3 years outta my Sedici before the shell, face shield, and even vents were a little worse for wear.
The biggest complaint I have about my AGV K6 is you can't get a photochromic visor. I hate having to change my visor or ride with a clear one on sunny days because I know I'm getting home late. Or carrying both visors. Yeah, I can, it's not the end of the world, it's just annoying.
Yep. If I'm doing any kind of a road trip, I'm taking my SHOEI and leaving the AGV at home for exactly that reason. Whatever the weather or time of day, I'm good with that transitions visor.
After crash testing hard a corsa r (worked perfectly) i went and bought the pista r and 4-5 years now couldnt be happier. Only 1 spoiler down and after buying new cheek pads feels and seems like new. Havent test this 1 yet on a crash but its a win only by the looks

That being said i personally run the shoei rf1400 and i love it. Biggest advice for buying a helmet is you have to try one on to see how it fits your head. Each manufacture has a certain shape of their helmet molds. I tried on the Arai and they just didn’t fit as nice as the Shoei for my head shape. I wanted a premium helmet but not quite ready for $2000. So I settled around $700 for the Shoei. Where I live there is not a ton of availability for trying things on, just a smaller cycle gear in town. And they’re not carrying $2k Pista’s haha
Holy smokes, I thought $900 was a lot to pay for my Arai signet. I wore Shoei X8s for years and loved them. Last two helmets have been signets and have been pretty happy with those. That AGV does look sweet though. 👌

Any of the top brands' helmets will protect your head the same. The difference will be in the features. The $2000 tag is for the carbon fiber, which is debatable whether or not it's worth paying twice as much. As you said, if you can afford it, then go for it. With lighter weight also comes more noise as you've said. The spoiler is probably designed to break off easily in the case of a crash. The round shape of the helmet is what protects you, so any aero additions need to break away quickly in the case of a crash. Arai does the same thing. As for the expiration dates of the helmets, it's a few things. Plastic does degrade over time. You will notice that after about 10 years, plastic can become very brittle and fall apart. The other thing that degrades is the styrofoam inside the helmet which deals with a lot of the impact absorption. Manufacturers believe that stuff like sweat, heat, and chemicals can degrade the quality of it over time. In reality, a good helmet can probably still function well up to 10 years, but for safety's sake, manufacturers will not put their guarantee on that, and give themselves a buffer. It's probably a good idea to replace your helmet after about 5-7 years. I've never been an AGV guy, I've always been with Arai, but tried out Shoei for the first time a couple of years ago. It's a nice helmet but doesn't match the premium feeling Arai has. I also found the liner not as comfortable, and the design of the interior not as comfortable. I had the Corsair V before and now I have a Shoei X-14. There isn't enough room in the ear area in the Shoei, and the foam around the temples is very hard. I also had to change out the cheekpads to a slimmer one to fit my face. The helmet felt like it needed more break in than my Arai. This year I'll be getting a second helmet, another Arai Corsair X, and swapping between the two.

i'm a bit of an expert on tinted visors. black is by far the best for filtering sunlight. but they quickly lose their usefulness after sunset. my gold visor has been awesome because it filters almost as much as a black tint, but isn't tinted quite as dark, so there's no need for sunglasses and visor up when the sun goes down. Blue and yellow tints have been the best for overcast/cloudy days. i use the blue-tinted sunglasses when i go fishing, it makes the colors pop more and i'm able to see fish easier
for the front ventilation it closes its on the front u dont need to duck tape them just try and reach on the front inside the helmet u will see a switch
I'm a BELL guy as far back as 1976 . I had 1 Shoei rf1200 was giving me headaches . 1 cheap Nolan , I was very poor then . Still somewhat poor but even if I had money , Bell is my brand . Still using my Bell vortex from 2012 and a Bell qualifier dlx from 2016 . Could easily change visor from 1 to the other and a new visor is like $50 .
As soon as I got the tuono I realized all helmets are not the same. I now have 2 agv pista/corsa. Cuts through air different than all the others on a naked bike
My.02 get the corsa and if you must just add a pista spoiler. Corsa is quieter and has vents that close. If you treat it as an investment I would buy the pista in Rossi colors since they seem to retain a value. I have the sweet home misano and literally get offers to buy it whenever I go to bike nights
I was wanting the Pista put settled for the K1 with plans to upgrade after a year of riding. The K1 is definitely lackluster, cheek pads are so worn out, even after washing them. That along with the sheer oversaturation of 19-23 year olds on financed liter bikes wearing financed Pistas is to make me elect to try a new brand when I upgrade. Probably going to go for the Suomy SRGP or try to get my hands on an Airoh GP800
I personally am a Schuberth guy, have a Shoei as well, but the quality of the Schuberth’s for me is as good as it gets. Spending serious money on riding equipments is more than justified? My life is worth more than the equipment I wear to pretext myself!
I have a rf1200 as well as my first helmet and it did raise the bar of expectations on helmets. I tried ruroc 3.0 and 4.0 but my shoei is still the best for me. I bought the agv pista but I have not get used to it, although my first used I notice how terrible the wind noise is. Still positive on keeping it. If not I might go for an x14
Great video and great helmet only thing i dislike about the pista is that the visor is either opened or closed if anyone has found a solution to keep it up could you please let me know Many thanks :)
Idk if it varies with insurance or by state, but with GEICO in PA, if you get in an accident they will reimburse you for damaged gear. So if you did get into an accident 1st year and wreck your helmet it's not a "issue"
have you ever tried the bell racestar dlx? I plan on picking up a fz07 this summer for a stunt/hoonbike since all i've ridden is a dirt bike. If you've tried the racestar, do you recommend the shoei above it? since they are in the same price range of around $1000 and I'm just looking for a comfortable but protective helmet I can trust in a crash
I'm rocking a LS2 FF353, I prob have the cheapest helmet in this comment section lol. However it hits all the safety marks and its super comfortable for my head. Kinda just waiting for some helmet deals to roll around and see what gets discounted.
The top helmet liner to my Shoei 1200 Marquez helmet has literally disintegrated after being in storage. I thought about replacing it but it’s hard to find and about $45 just for one portion of it. I’m thinking I might try a AGV K1, K3 or K6.
There are euro websites with older model AGV Pista GP RR's for under $1000. Even under $900. I have two, One for the street and one for the track. Both came within a week of ordering via UPS.. The model you want is not discounted that low though. I love the fit, feel and lightweight. I always wear earplugs so I'm not concerned about noise.
No, I'm talking about a different site. But it looks like they only have one Pista under $1k at the moment. Usually they have three or four different ones under $1k. I got both of mine from there for under $900.
The front chin vent can be closed, you need to slide it up or down on the chin part inside the helmet. Also complaining about the noise when riding, just wear some ear plugs. Everything sounds better with plugs in.
I'll check this one out. You check out my helmet, the X-Lite X803 RS Ultra Carbon. I absolutely love it! It seems a lot like how you described your helmet, except it has functional vents, and the spoiler is tough and changeable from full race to more street compact.
I bought yesterday an AGV pista gp rr matt carbon in xxl size from dainsese for 390 euros from a physical store here in Italy at 70% discount due to the size
About the visor, any visor can last long but if you take care of them (not saying you take bad care of yout helmet, dont get me wrong) they can last reaalyyy long, for example, my dad has owned an arai quantum or Giga (im not sure) lucca cadallora with a tinted viser for 20 years and the visor is still like brand new.
K3 fits my head going on with my 9/16 gauges on but taking it off I gotta take off my gauges under my helmet first then pull off my ears while taking it off. Definitely fun to put on terrible to take off 💀
Had the GPRR since day one. Wasn’t interested that much at first but when i had the chance to try one i fall in love with the new liner. To sums it up it’s definitely more comfortable and better. Although i’m agree that maintaining the helmet could be pricey especially the spoiler. Friend of mine say that there’s so many counterfeit of this helmet in asia therefore why not gettin the counterfeit spareparts? I look for one in Ali and i hate to admit it but they all works flawlessly even some part actually have better durability than the oem parts but they’re more heavy. I got the spoiler for 15-30 bucks and i have 6 of em for spare 😂😂
Honestly the way I see it is a helmet is meant to protect your head. Anything else is a bonus, if your willing to pay for those bonuses go ahead but know what your paying for. I personally wouldn’t pay more than $500 for a helmet, I don’t need much other than chin mount comparability, some vents and a modular visor. Given I’ll throw it away in 5 years why get something super fancy. This is the case for almost every piece of gear as it wears out. $500 gloves which you’ll get 1-2 years out of for example is insane to me.
Can't imagine how much of a fragile flower one would have to be to find the SHOEI liner "painful" - lolled so hard at that claim! 😅 My RF1400 is every bit as comfortable as my K6S. The RF is quieter and vents better. The K6S is lighter. That's it.
Hello I just bought the pista GP soleluna 2017 But i would to remove and wash the padding ? Is it easy ? Im scared to remove it .. Thanks to you i like you vids.. i follos you on tiktok 👍

The X14 is litterally Half the price of the pista, you could replace pads and etc and still be cheaper. I think if you can afford the pista is worth it, but if not the X-14 probably you best option
I’ve the pista RR .. ( it’s iconic - 😉 inside joke ) no but really I’ve had it just 3 months now .. prior I was rocking the AGV K6 in medium / large .. my pista RR is large .. and it’s just now forming to my head .. where as the K6 Was a quick fit .. go figure .. long story short I paid a $1,000 for my pista .. best helmet I’ve ever had.. however it sure was a pain to wear the first 2 months.. loud ?? I dunno I always wear ear pods to listen for cops on Waze 😉😉😉.. what I found most amazing with the pista was zero head wind buffet .. turn your head it’s just as good as forward .. that seriously amazed me
I agree 👍 I'm to cheap ❗️I got a helmet that fits right at XL then To improve cutting the roar out I bought a just plain L , as going from XL down makes it snugger and getting the ears 👂 flat is a wiggle thing ❗️but music 🎶 is crip can hold a half ass ledglable conversion on phone 90➕️ and I'm the same way 100 is good enough for a public road. AGV are good helmets but I think Photochromic Helmets/visor is where it’s at. Shoei has that Photochromic visor which is great. Bell makes Photochromic Helmets have yet to try one. But replacing a helmet every 5 years is so 😢.
I’ve been wanting a pista so bad, but can’t realistically afford one, I had a K1 and I’ve had a Scorpion exo r1 air, maybe one day I’ll be able to afford one 😂

Owning a premium RACING helmet will always be a noisy expirience. I personaly wear earplugs especialy when on track. Second if you say 2000 dolars and bin it in a crash first year, but your priceless head remains whole, i thing 2000 for a head is a good option, that anyone will take
I’ve tryed that helmet a few times. It’s ok but the price doesn’t list with me. Plus everything for that helmet is expensive. I wear shoei for the most part and love the helmets. If I ever wanna spend some cash on a agv id buy one. But probably won’t ride in it to much. Just more for collection.
i disagree on so much of this... i got the pista gpr RR thoe, but same shell. The liner i "okay" but not directly good. The pros are a good "thicc" visor, the helmet cuts through the wind and it looks great. Worth the money? no not at all but it is a nice collector item.

Probably going to go for the Suomy SRGP or try to get my hands on an Airoh GP800
it's gotta fit the shape of your head, without that it'll never be comfortable. After that I'd pick the quietest one.
Wait for the x15. Coming soon
@Goldie anyone know when it will come out here in the US? Just sold my AGV and can't wait for the x-15
@@paul0493 I’m still waiting. It’s out in Europe and Japan
@@goldie6579 I know! some websites in EU won't ship to US. I found a few that can but most of them are out of stock :(
Got a corsa r 2 months ago and love it
Great video and great helmet only thing i dislike about the pista is that the visor is either opened or closed if anyone has found a solution to keep it up could you please let me know
Many thanks :)
I've had a Shoei X14 for a few years now. Just bought a Pista RR
Idk if it varies with insurance or by state, but with GEICO in PA, if you get in an accident they will reimburse you for damaged gear. So if you did get into an accident 1st year and wreck your helmet it's not a "issue"
U can close the vents on the face there is a slider in the inside, of the helmet Wich u can slide up and down. It took me like 1 year to find out 😂
u can close die front down fans from the inside just that u know and have more fun
have you ever tried the bell racestar dlx? I plan on picking up a fz07 this summer for a stunt/hoonbike since all i've ridden is a dirt bike. If you've tried the racestar, do you recommend the shoei above it? since they are in the same price range of around $1000 and I'm just looking for a comfortable but protective helmet I can trust in a crash
Having both the gp rr and the rf1400, my main concern is where did you get that shirt. That shirt is fire. Where do I get that?
i just ordered a forged gp rr im so excited
I have a shoei rf1200 and arai Corsair x but I use the shoei more. You have a nice helmet
You’re talking about motocard
I'll stick with my beginner HJC while I learn lol.
Looks same as the k6 but has a spoiler an full carbon. K6 weighs 3.46 lbs an has vents that can open an close
I got the spoiler for 15-30 bucks and i have 6 of em for spare 😂😂
got agv K6 love it 👍😊
Honestly the way I see it is a helmet is meant to protect your head. $500 gloves which you’ll get 1-2 years out of for example is insane to me.
do you already try the shoei helmet?
I got one for 1700$ , the gp rr mini iridium carbon in medium . It is f dope
Can't imagine how much of a fragile flower one would have to be to find the SHOEI liner "painful" - lolled so hard at that claim! 😅 My RF1400 is every bit as comfortable as my K6S. The RF is quieter and vents better. The K6S is lighter. That's it.
Hello
I just bought the pista GP soleluna 2017
But i would to remove and wash the padding ? Is it easy ?
Im scared to remove it ..
Thanks to you i like you vids.. i follos you on tiktok 👍
I have the rf-800 lmao from 1998 my dad bought it never used it once say in nice bag in his closet since 98 this year I got a new gsxr 750 and he gave it to me lol it’s bad ass
The X14 is litterally Half the price of the pista, you could replace pads and etc and still be cheaper. I think if you can afford the pista is worth it, but if not the X-14 probably you best option
I’ve got $1,450 in a Corsair x, and I’ll never buy another icon airmada again. It’s freakin amazing.
I’ve the pista RR .. ( it’s iconic - 😉 inside joke ) no but really I’ve had it just 3 months now .. prior I was rocking the AGV K6 in medium / large .. my pista RR is large .. and it’s just now forming to my head .. where as the K6 Was a quick fit .. go figure .. long story short I paid a $1,000 for my pista .. best helmet I’ve ever had.. however it sure was a pain to wear the first 2 months.. loud ?? I dunno I always wear ear pods to listen for cops on Waze 😉😉😉.. what I found most amazing with the pista was zero head wind buffet .. turn your head it’s just as good as forward .. that seriously amazed me
I agree 👍 I'm to cheap ❗️I got a helmet that fits right at XL then
To improve cutting the roar out I bought a just plain L , as going from XL down makes it snugger and getting the ears 👂 flat is a wiggle thing ❗️but music 🎶 is crip can hold a half ass ledglable conversion on phone 90➕️ and I'm the same way 100 is good enough for a public road. If you've got the need to see 140 head to the track unless you are stupid and give us all a bad wrap 🏍💨⚡️💥
My ninja 1,000 does 135145 and not at Redline fast enough for me anyway ⚡️⚡️
I had to get a helmet that I can wear my glasses with
I have the Corsa R and it is my favorite helmet I’ve owned. But it looks like AGV doesn’t make the Corsa R anymore😢
I’ve never worn anything other than Arai. I think I’d buy a Icon before an AGV or a Shoei! Lol
Sounds like you’re in a cult
@@adobomoto yeah I watch you!
I really wanted to like Arai but they just don't fit right at all so I picked up a pista gp rr fits amazing
Edit* I didn't know you couldn't close the bottom vent on the gpR. They are having a sale on the GP RR's right now and you can close the chin vent
What's the quietest helmet in your opinion?
i heard shark is
maybe arai quantum x is better fit? because round oval. asians have more rounded head. I was medium on shoei but small on arai.
AGV are good helmets but I think Photochromic Helmets/visor is where it’s at. Shoei has that Photochromic visor which is great. Bell makes Photochromic Helmets have yet to try one. But replacing a helmet every 5 years is so 😢.
I use aeroh helmets mine is made of carbon kevlar and its the best helmet ive ever had
How do you feel about arai
The reason why I use Shoei is their transitional visors. It’s a one and done visor
Your helmet is worth more than my motorcycle
If I'm laying 1k+ for a helmet it's going to be an arai. Best helmets on the market by far.
Here in the uk they recommend helmets to be replaced every 5years.
I’ve been wanting a pista so bad, but can’t realistically afford one, I had a K1 and I’ve had a Scorpion exo r1 air, maybe one day I’ll be able to afford one 😂
I have a cheap Bilt Vertex Helmet for karting and was hoping to use it for riding down the line. I just recently bought a Sedici Strada 2 Primo Prestigio Helmet for 150 at Cycle Gear that's Snell rated and damn it feels so much better 😂 maybe down the line ill get something better like a Shoei or Arai but I just don't wanna spend 800 bucks on a helmet 🤣
Arai has the most comfortable in my opinion
"The visor is not quick change" then proceeds to literally remove the visor and replace it in 1 second flat
IM BATMAN
Is it as loud as people claim?
Yup. Specially with the vents open
YES, I ride with one daily and I have ear buds designed to block wind noise but wind still leaks through 😵💫
YES, I ride with one daily and I have ear buds designed to block wind noise but wind still leaks through 😵💫
And I thought $800 was a lot
Am i the only one who finds it wierd that these days we can talk this and that about a helmut but never touch on the safety factor of a helmut. Lol
i disagree on so much of this... i got the pista gpr RR thoe, but same shell. The liner i "okay" but not directly good. The pros are a good "thicc" visor, the helmet cuts through the wind and it looks great. Worth the money? no not at all but it is a nice collector item.
Arai RX7V all the way.
I enjoy RF-1400.
Just dumped my bike for the first time this morning 😔. Light cosmetic damage. Front tire fell into tram tracks and she went down.
Adobo: this helmet doesn’t hurt my head
Also Adobo: I tape up the vents because they hurt my ears
😂 i tape the vents for motovlogging
I have the rf1400 and it doesn’t bother my ears so I’ll be sticking with the “cheap” option
noise like you work in fabrick, air can be closed, visor close or open, no sun visor, only think is that is good looking and thats ok for you for 2k?? No WAY!
A $2000 helmet......😂😂. Bring on the obligatory "you can't put a price on safety".
Actually a full carbon fiber helmet last 10 years not just 4 as usual helmets so year per euro its one of the cheapest helmets
I wanted K6 thr ms and ML didn't fit
Bro you can never put a price for your head. That why I never settled on my helmets
I just can’t justify 2000 dollars for a helmet I personally would never go above 1K
Who else here in 2024 when adobo hates on agv and says they are not worth it
You are laughing about waxing your helmet? I have ceramic coated my helmet haha. I have the HJC Ralph 11 Carbon.
Lmfao. I put my helmet on the ground at the track 😂
This is one of the most overrated helmets. Saying AGV is better than Shoei is like saying KTM makes better bikes than Yamaha.
