"You may be able to notice that" *screeching sound makes my ears bleed* Nope, didn't notice. Joking, I love your videos, and how you give life back into these old consoles and games. It's amazing.
Thanks for the quick reply. I found some corroded traces right above a chip. I tried cleaning them with alcohol but nothing happened. Then I followed a bad trace and soldered a wire directly from a leg on the chip and the end of the trace. BAM I got perfect audio. If anyone has this problem I suggest checking all traces even slightly discolored ones. It made me really happy that it was an easy fix for $90 broken system. Not quite as good as your deal though ;)
I was hell bent on bidding on this and bloody missed it!! However now I know you got it, it eases the pain!! I'm just realy glad no spotty little scrote with a butane soldering iron and a burning desire to fix the world got hold of it!
They were mine, bet the seller was neofusedgames or dreamcastgamer? I noticed when it said location chesterfield and then i saw the dumb fragile stickers on the box. If I knew the exact month you purchased them i could find your name and addy lol since at the time I was self employed selling video games. I had a huge neo geo aes collection of over 250 carts and around 20 consoles. All sold now. What a blast from the past. Glad you sorted them out bruv.
Wow. That's got to be the deal of the decade. You almost never see Neo-Geo AESs on ebay or heck, anywhere. Awesome stuff, and I hope you fixed them. :)
Nice score! I hope you can fix the sound. Fragile stickers usually mean nothing. Most postage companies don't offer a fragile service, you have to pack expecting rough treatment. Ideally that box would have been full to the top with bubblewrap/peanuts/foam.
I've been watching your videos for awhile and I was wondering what do you do with your spare parts, and if you would do a video showing your "inventory"?
I genuinely thought they'd have been picked over and completely dead. A very nice surprise indeed! :) On closer inspection the UniBios install in the first console is the reason for the error screen. It's a total mess and needs redone/reworked. The cracked cart slot is the reason for the sound issues. The second console just needs that transistor replaced. Shouldn't be too hard to fix them both. I'll do an update when they're both 100% :)
Thanks, glad you like em! :). I ended up playing the TG for a week or 2 then sold it. It's a great system but the UK version is basically locked into 50Hz mode which I really didn't like. I'm now on the look out for a JAP or US model to buy and RGB mod :)
broken items when cheap are always worth looking at! i got a rare official ps2 neo geo controller for 20 bucks shipped out of japan and it wasnt even broken and not a scratch on it!
I just got lucky... again :P. On closer inspection that UniBios console will actually need a fair amount of reworking to put 100% right. But the other console with the bad PSU just needs one component replaced! :) Do you know exactly what's wrong with yours? Does it turn on at all?
I was watching these and debating with myself whether to bid or not. I'd love an AES but was certain that as the seller dealt in NEO GEO stuff that he'd have stripped the boards and they'd be beyond repair. AMazing price you got them for, gutted I didn't take a chance.
Hey Martin, I always enjoy your vids about more "exotic" (at least here in europe) consoles. What happened to your TurboGrafx? Even a short vid about your experience with it and your opinion would be really appreciated!
Hope you still get to reply to this but I'd love to see you review android pc, your channel is getting to the point where you can send emails to them and ask for review units, you're great at it.
This is the best bargain i have seen!! Well done mate. I think the unibios chips are different for the MVS, depending on the motherboard they just plug straight in (socket type) and i dont think you need to solder wires?? Or am i wrong
Those are definitely the best types of deal. You can sometimes just tell from someones auction listing that they either don't care or have no idea how to properly test something :P This occasion was just a very nice surprise. I thought I was only buying faulty parts boards! XD
Sorry, recently I've been getting loads of people PMing me with technical queries looking for help. As a result I sadly had to disable PMs altogether on my account. There're literally not enough hours in the day for me to sit down, read, work out a solution then write out a detailed response to everyone's questions. I tried to in the past but many people were either outright rude to me or didn't even say thanks. It's nothing personal. Keeping up with video comments is hard enough! :P
I bet you could get mine working maybe lol. Somone already said they could try, I just have to send it to them and pay to send it back to me, still haven't decided though entirely. Impressive.
What a F ing result for you. Nice video as always fella. I hear you on the AES Vs MVS argument. It borders on the ridiculous for the price of some AES carts.
I thought the same :P . I really only bought them for the parts and that UniBios chip to put in my MVS. I was surprised it went for such a low bid. Even more surprised the consoles aren't completely dead! :P Win some lose some I guess :)
I've worked with a few ex-postal workers in the past and some of their stories about what goes on in the distribution centers is pretty disgusting. So to answer your question, yes :(
It's kinda funny for me watching this because about 10 years ago I got one of these consoles from someone for $15-$20 US that wasn't working. Turned out the issue was a damaged GPU. Fortunately I managed to fix it, (won't go into details unless someone is really interested. It was not easy to find the issue or a solution to it.), now I have a working console with three games. I just need to find a controller or two... :P
thats fuckin terrible about the broken box. and its got 'fragile' stickers on and everything! man, they put their prices up, take the piss, then treat packages like shit.. GRRRR!! dude, you are a tech legend. what a result.
Nice buys there, I was going to ask, if you would consider selling the big 'on' button and the slider (I found an AES at a car boot sales a few years ago, it was in pieces but as I found out it worked but was missing the two switches), no problem if you want to keep them, I also have a few ngage goodies I could trade if you prefer. Anyway, keep up the good work.
It would be cool to have an AES and a nice selection of good games. It would be even cooler just to have that kind of money to spend on video games :P . In reality I think it would just really bother me that I had so much capital tied up in just a few fragile game carts :/ . I'd rather spend the cash on a car or holiday etc :P
or you could get the neo geo x gold...? Would be interested in seeing what you think of that system if you have one. I brought one and I like it but cant really compare it to the real thing!
hello i'm from italy and i wrote you for a problem... I bought a neo geo at the flea market complete with viedo cable, power supply, a game and two joypads all in good conditions but if I connect it to the TV, nothing can be seen. Given your skill and experience could you tell me how to proceed step by step to understand what the problem is? keep in mind that I am not as good as you but I am quite good at electronics and I have almost all the equipment you need and the necessary manual skills but unfortunately I lack your experience! if I turn on the console WITHOUT the game card the screen becomes BLUE if instead I turn it on with the game for a moment you see a green screen with ASCII characters written vertically after which the screen turns black. I haven't opened the console yet but I'll do it if you tell me how to proceed. thank you for your very interesting videos and if you want to spend some of your time helping me. thank you
I could just cry I've wanted a neo geo aes console since 1995 and I know I'll never be able to afford one unless I get it for under 200 dollar Canadian with a game.
Sometime I think fragile stickers have the opposite effect of doing what their supposed to :P. I saw that, nice catch! It surprising that Xbox consoles are still relatively valuable in Aus. Over here they're pretty worthless from a resellers point of view. I've accumulated a few over the years :) . Btw were you an active member over on XS at one time?
Just got two welding helmets from UK. Royal mail and Lithuania mail almost completely crushed both boxes too :) good thing these are not fragile. Do people in mail crunch boxes for fun or something? :D
How ridiculous was that?! What an amazing bargain, you'll make a pretty penny out of those, I kind of ignored my AES after picking up most of the cheap games, MVS is so much more convenient :) As always, an impressive video of your skills :D
They didn't need much doing to them to be fair :P . Actually they still need a bit of work to get them 100% but I don't think I can complain at that price! :)
"You may be able to notice that" *screeching sound makes my ears bleed* Nope, didn't notice.
Joking, I love your videos, and how you give life back into these old consoles and games. It's amazing.
Great job, man! It's always good to know that another original SNK beast was saved from the death!
Awesome pickup! always fun to get a 'parts lot' and end up having it all working with just a little bit of effort.
I can't believe you got these. I never get that lucky on eBay truly you are a master of your craft.
Thanks for the quick reply. I found some corroded traces right above a chip. I tried cleaning them with alcohol but nothing happened. Then I followed a bad trace and soldered a wire directly from a leg on the chip and the end of the trace. BAM I got perfect audio. I'm just realy glad no spotty little scrote with a butane soldering iron and a burning desire to fix the world got hold of it!
Legend goes that a bunch of guys is still looking up and down eBay to find a NeoGeo AES that cheap.
They were mine, bet the seller was neofusedgames or dreamcastgamer? I noticed when it said location chesterfield and then i saw the dumb fragile stickers on the box. If I knew the exact month you purchased them i could find your name and addy lol since at the time I was self employed selling video games. Great price and great ending.
As Hannibal Smith used to say "I love it when a plan comes together!!"
Wow. That's got to be the deal of the decade. You almost never see Neo-Geo AESs on ebay or heck, anywhere. Awesome stuff, and I hope you fixed them. :)
Not sure. But once they're fully functional again they should be worth a lot more than what I paid. They'll be a bare bones unit/replacement board.
What a bargain! 2 almost (and now fully) working AES for that price is awesome!
Nice score! I hope you can fix the sound. Fragile stickers usually mean nothing. Most postage companies don't offer a fragile service, you have to pack expecting rough treatment. Ideally that box would have been full to the top with bubblewrap/peanuts/foam.

Lots of good info man. Thanks for this great resource and good luck with your future endeavors.
@harry,the lcd screen is for the modchip thats in the xbox, its a optional purchase when you buy the chip
I bought an AES Cart that had the same sound issue, quick clean of the connectors with some Isopropyl and it worked fine.
broken items when cheap are always worth looking at! i got a rare official ps2 neo geo controller for 20 bucks shipped out of japan and it wasnt even broken and not a scratch on it!
SWEET both Neos are back from beyond!!! Hoooray! =)
I just got lucky... again :P. On closer inspection that UniBios console will actually need a fair amount of reworking to put 100% right. But the other console with the bad PSU just needs one component replaced! :)

Wow great stuff! I have been thinking about getting a Neo Geo CDZ myself
I had noise like that with my metal slug, gave the cart connectors and the cartridge slot a clean with isopropanol and it worked fine.
Love these videos mate, my favourite RUclips channel by a mile. Please keep them coming.
I would love to see an update video on these 2 consoles in the future! ;D
Did ace ventura deliver your package? lol
haha, good one. Jim Carrey rules!
Royal Mail, apparently the same thing though.
Sounds broken, probably is,bet it was nice though!!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wow, excellent work. What a deal! You could easily make like 150 quid if you resold them, right?
Looking forward to your update video.
Have you check the cable? If the cable is ok you have to check for leaking capacitor in the sound area of the mainboard.
Love this channel, it's like my crack.
+GamerGuy51 Leave your crack out of this ;)
*****
What?
Your BUTT CRACK
I would of filed a complaint with the post office, Btw , shows how much I like your vids, I forgot I had already watched & commented 2 years ago! )
Hey Martin, I always enjoy your vids about more "exotic" (at least here in europe) consoles. What happened to your TurboGrafx? Even a short vid about your experience with it and your opinion would be really appreciated!
Best TV show of the 80's! :)
Very well done mate, you have done it again!!
Those are definitely the best types of deal. You can sometimes just tell from someones auction listing that they either don't care or have no idea how to properly test something :P

Keeping up with video comments is hard enough! :P
So jealous. I would love to pick one of these up and a flashcart.
nice hit you got there with those 2 consoles.
£10 Neo Geo? In 2013? Even faulty?
Thanks for answering! You have a great channel - keep up your excellent work and good luck for your ebay hunting :-)
Greetings from Germany!
I bet you could get mine working maybe lol. Somone already said they could try, I just have to send it to them and pay to send it back to me, still haven't decided though entirely. Impressive.
Love all your videos. Modded my sega nomad after watching one. I don't have any sound on my Japanese Neo Geo AES. Any suggestions?
What a F ing result for you. Nice video as always fella. I hear you on the AES Vs MVS argument. It borders on the ridiculous for the price of some AES carts.
Thanks dude. Pretty happy with the outcome :)
I thought the same :P . I really only bought them for the parts and that UniBios chip to put in my MVS. I was surprised it went for such a low bid. Even more surprised the consoles aren't completely dead! :P Win some lose some I guess :)
What luck on those working as well as they are, eh? Awesome dude!
Thats awesome find Martin...Nice!
I've worked with a few ex-postal workers in the past and some of their stories about what goes on in the distribution centers is pretty disgusting. So to answer your question, yes :(
I almost did the same :P . I was pretty convinced they'd have been picked over and 100 dead. Glad I took the gamble :)
What an amazing deal, great video!

Very well done, hope the profit on them helps you with other projects, or something boring like bills ;)
thats fuckin terrible about the broken box. and its got 'fragile' stickers on and everything! man, they put their prices up, take the piss, then treat packages like shit.. GRRRR!!
dude, you are a tech legend. what a result.
Good thing they didn't end up in the hands of a scrapper wanting "all that gold".
The Dollar Guy I´d buy that for a dollar!
pretty savy , dealings , bloody brilliant.
You should get a tripod so we could see you working, really a shame you skip all the parts where you're fixing things
Thanks. The sound is due to the cracked cart slot. Should be an easy fix :).
Cheers! :)
The prices for some AES games is obscene! Very cool console but prohibitively expensive :(
MVS FTW! :)
Absolutely fascinating
Thanks, dude! They still need a bit of work but still a good deal.
I see you have internet again? :)
Once they're fully reworked and cleaned up they'll definitely be worth a little more than what I paid for them, that's for sure! :P
Awesome video man.
Greetings from Fife!
Amazing score congratulations!!!!
hi , thanks for the great video.
can you please tell me how much the neo geo console alone weights?
thanks allot
Nice deal i had two once but i never had a cart to test them.
Thanks. Just luck :P.
I still need to put a few hours work into each console to get them 100%. Otherwise I'm pretty happy :)
I'll let you know when they're fully refurbished and working again :)
or you could get the neo geo x gold...? Would be interested in seeing what you think of that system if you have one. I brought one and I like it but cant really compare it to the real thing!

As usual, you managed to bag yourself a bargain!
Thanks :). I'll drop you a PM when I get round to selling them :)
my experience with postage.the more fragile stickers you put on there, the more it gets kicked around.
I could just cry I've wanted a neo geo aes console since 1995 and I know I'll never be able to afford one unless I get it for under 200 dollar Canadian with a game.
Yup, but its not the greatest, 2mbps only, but for now at least its good enough to what the youtubers I like, will do a update video soon though :)
Wow man. Nice surprise video.
Great vid as usual. Well done
both are fully working now
Bloomin' great pick up, you lucky bugger! ;o)
loving your channel and videos btw
Thanks. Another lucky win :)
Yeah that's what I'm going to do also is get a mvs at least I hope I can.
what do you do for a living?
The problem I had with sound just happened when I played that game all my another games worked perfectly
Will you be buying Ouya?
You should look into getting an MVS :)
Hope you made a recent markup on them?
How much would it cost to fix a megadrive which is given out a black and white pitcture?
It depends maybe 50 to 100 $ it mainly depends
excellent vid, subscribed! miss my neo geo
Thanks! I really appreciate that :)
You need to be checking ebay multiple times a day to find the good stuff ;-)
lol, yes i would. let me know when you want got get rid of them and the price you want. would love to take one of these bad boys of ya hands.
They didn't need much doing to them to be fair :P . Actually they still need a bit of work to get them 100% but I don't think I can complain at that price! :)
