    been here at least 6 times. In 1968, I was 18 YO: coming from Texas and it's general flatness, I was stunned by this park! The last time: an Amtrak trip from LA with my wife and daughters (ages 12 and 7) in 1999. We spent 4 days in the Park; my daughters loved the beaches, my wife the Rain Forest, and me, the Mountains! This Park, as well as Glacier in Montana are my favorites! This is an excellent presentation- well done!!!

    Thankyou for today's show on the Olympics National Park. Be still my heart. I worked 2 summers at Sol Duc Resort. We lived on site and between working, we hiked that beautiful hike to Sol Suc Falls and clambered all over the gorgeous wild coastline and rainforest. Fabulous. Some of the most pristine country one could possibly find. You are right. .pure gold treasure in this part of the world. Plus soaking in the natural hot springs was a superb treat. Love your show ...keep rockin those parks.

    This is such a gorgeous episode. I taped it, as always, but I am using some of the scenes for meditation.

    thanks, great vid. Ive spent endless time on the Peninsula, so i feel like there needs to be a part two to this vid to give it justice. I love what you guys do, so thanks. If you heed the call of my comment, just means you have to spend more time up there, darn, ha. Visiting all the (four) rainforest valleys up there would be a great focus, including the gorgeous Lake Quinalt. And Hurricane Ridge as well,... so much in such a "small" area.

      Totally agree! They always say it’s 3 parks in one. What a magical spot. I’d love to go back!

    I lived on the Olympic Penninsula in Port Angeles, 30 elk is a small herd. Try having the highway stopped until over 200 elk cross it. It was not uncommon.

    I liked the rain forest and coastal areas of ONP, but my favorite part was the mountain area. The peaks arent as high as some other ranges in the US, but going from sea level to 5k+ feet is quite an experience. My wife and I logged 5,500 feet of net elevation gain on a day hike near Port Angeles, it was epic!

      So awesome! I’ve always wanted to climb some of the peaks there

      Whoops, 1:45 does show Mt Rainier as part of the Olympics. Rainier National Park is about 3 hours to the East of Olympic National Park.

    Sol duc isn't the only waterfall in Olympic national park/forest that you can see from above.

    Is it muddy in the rainforest in the summer or just more dryer

    • @drewp.weiner4419
      @drewp.weiner4419 4 года назад

      It gets really dry the last couple summers and there have been a couple fires in the national forest, but not inside of the national park.

    Nature is therapeutic...............but remember, it is indifferent to humans. It does not care if you are cold, starving, injured, or suffering in any way. So we made cities where we can serve our interests best, with food, shelter, medicine, education, etc. Each has its place, and if you were ever really untethered to the benefits of the cities, you would cry for your mommy.

    30 in a herd of elk is NOT a “judge herd “. 100 or more is a large herd. I have seen judge herds.

    Most of Olympic National park is tree farms. Very little, less than 10% is “old growth forest”.
