Classic was the dominant banjo style in the world from the 1870s until around 1920 and was based on classic guitar. Ragtime banjoists were quite prominent. Joplin dedicated sections of his rags to banjoists. One of the roots of ragtime was what was called banjo piano by pianists who immitated the syncopations Black ande black imitting banjoist played in the mid 19th Century still this is fine music

This is awesome! I've always thought this would be a good song for the banjo. Been playin' for a while now but have never come across a banjo tab or lesson online. Kudos though man.

    kudos kudos kudos.
your sense of cadence is impeccable. so many other people try and put up bits where they play too fast and end up playing sloppily or their cadence shifts during the tune because they never learned to play by starting slowly.
you sir obviously do not have that problem. egggcellent!

Either instrument can be as complicated as you want to make it, but the banjo is physically easier to play. Fewer strings and lighter gauge.

this ios great but just an extention of classic banjo which was dominant in the time of Ragtime, with more rag recordings on cyclinders than done by piano. The masters like Van Eps and Ossmon played much faster than this
