As an aspirering banjo student, I was in "Rapt" attention. That was the most beautiful rendition of that song I've ever heard. Absolutely fabulous. Thank You
You gotta be kiddin me!!! In the meantime I'll pick my jaw up off the floor and continue to listen. I play and Orlando 5 stg and I am just shocked at this. Its amazing ,really! I'd love to have the tabs for it,so I can butcher my way thru it and hang my head, and go kick cans....
Classic was the dominant banjo style in the world from the 1870s until around 1920 and was based on classic guitar. Ragtime banjoists were quite prominent. Joplin dedicated sections of his rags to banjoists. One of the roots of ragtime was what was called banjo piano by pianists who immitated the syncopations Black ande black imitting banjoist played in the mid 19th Century still this is fine music
This is awesome! I've always thought this would be a good song for the banjo. Been playin' for a while now but have never come across a banjo tab or lesson online. Kudos though man.
Michael DelPrincipe - Knopf has a whole tablature booklet you can buy online. Its has this and Maple Leaf Rag, amongst other Scott Joplin songs. Pretty sweet!
If you can play this song on banjo, that damn well, you have mastered the Banjo- for sure! soooooooo friggin hard (odd notes and timing) i love Ragtime :D so cool :)
kudos kudos kudos. your sense of cadence is impeccable. so many other people try and put up bits where they play too fast and end up playing sloppily or their cadence shifts during the tune because they never learned to play by starting slowly. you sir obviously do not have that problem. egggcellent!
hahah very nice. and i thought i was good cause i could finally play when johnny comes marching home and the hawaiian war chant all the way through now.
this ios great but just an extention of classic banjo which was dominant in the time of Ragtime, with more rag recordings on cyclinders than done by piano. The masters like Van Eps and Ossmon played much faster than this
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! I have played a 5 string ever since Kennedy was President, but I couldn’t touch this!! Lovely top tension banjo too!
Are you really? It's not look so hard and complicated.

Wonderful playing, thank you very much! Best wishes from Switzerland!

absolutely lovely ! you inspire me to get better with my banjo
i was thinking about taking up the Banjo... Now I'm not so sure lol. Excellent job Mr. Knopf
I like the smile at the end with the little laugh, like "I did it."
It is in my book "Bill Knopf Plays Scott Joplin". There is a companion CD. They are available through my website. Thanks
Very well preformed
Clap clap clap!! Bravo! bravo! Magnifico!
Scott Joplin sell a tab book on his website. I am using this to work on the tune
This song suits the BANJO!!! :D I can imagine a cowboy playing this while biting on a grass stem while taking care of a herd of cows

Wow amazing playing
its really good when you play at speed 1.25
Its really good the way it is, this guy is amazing. But it does sound more lively at 1.25.
Frances Jhay Acain Right? He makes it sound Extremely Awesome slower too, though!..

Nice Bill
yeah cool
Aurthur Morgan Entertainer
Song is fire till you crank the speed to 1.50
Then it's extra fire
Either instrument can be as complicated as you want to make it, but the banjo is physically easier to play. Fewer strings and lighter gauge.
BBaw check six
ctually it was Bill Knoph who did the tab book. My bad
