    The fact that “not everyone agreed to the glass bridge plan” excuse is total BS. So the fact that Ashley wouldn’t go in front of Trey until he fell, everyone behind her should’ve done the same for her. If Ashley didn’t agree to the plan during the glass bridge game, she should’ve raised her voice immediately, not avoiding and hiding from her responsibility. I believe they key problem with what happened on the bridge is that, if you are a low number, then the plan was perfect. I think Ashley probably didn’t think it through, but taking over Trey meant she just had to do one jump and be safe. Not doing so would set the standard that nobody helps each other and she’s on her own for, like, 13 steps. In the end, she did cross the bridge, but that only happened because everyone else luckily played game. I’m just pointing out that the best move was to take over Trey, despite knowing in hindsight she made it either way. It was a riskier move, even if it felt the opposite at the moment.

    • @alvarocalmet
      @alvarocalmet 10 месяцев назад +9

      As for Mai, during the dinner scene, taking the first turn to press the button was a genius move. The first to press the button has a 2/3 chance of staying in the game. While grey didn’t guarantee she would pass, it also made the choice for the others come down to 50/50 between red and green. Those are better odds than the others picking first. And the move worked and she won. It seems like there was a lot of chance, but even in games of chance, the choices you make and the moment you take a risk can completely determine the outcome.

      @@purlipurright but y’all are missing the point of her decision. Trey gives the final clue here. He looked back and asked if *anyone* is going to step up and nobody did. So it seemed like the entire group abandoned the plan. In that case, it would have been best to let trey make a few jumps. And, after you made your jump, check in with the group and ask to see if they were down to go back to the plan, which they were because watching trey fall made them realize, multiple jumps was a disaster.
      It’s not just about beating the game but it’s a mind game.

I am all for being a team player however Ashley never agreed to be apart of their plan with the glass game.
    In addition, Mai wasn't a "team player" when everyone nominated themselves for the dice game yet she didn't and she was cut throat one other games. Mai also spoke horrible about TJ yet he was loyal and saved her from being eliminated more than once. All she said was she’s not sure if she can trust him because he was a showman and flashy so she wasn’t sure if his words were genuine or if he was just being a showman and telling others what they wanna hear to instill a false sense of security. In this game, she’s trying to decipher the fake relationships from the real and genuine. Once she realized TJ was sincere and a trustworthy person, she felt bad and figured that she was wrong about him. He proved to her that he was a solid guy and his word is his truth. She fully trusted him after he gave her the last number on the bridge, which she never expected him to do and she wanted to return the favor and protect him but he got eliminated before she ever had the chance to help him.

      it was fair for her to show doubts cause she didn't know what type of person he was, until that point in the show they weren't close at all except in TJ's mind because he saw the similar characteristics between them. I'd like to think that in the long run she was willing to return the unexplained trust TJ showed towards her.
      TJ is the true winner!

      She only said she didn't trust TJ, she didn't do anything to sabotage him. And what she did to Roland was not spiteful, go watch the episode again. She can't choose Ashley obviously and she was the target in everyone else's eyes for nominating Ashley in the previous game. Choosing the person she was closest to was probably the best move at that point

    Man. I don't really know how, but this show has repeatedly proven to be able to generate such opposite reactions in me. (Putting all controversies and accusations aside,) Something that intrigued me a lot was the editing itself. When at the beginning you start to get to know all those characters like Bryton, Figgy, Stephen, (...) in a much more individualized way than the rest, you think "hm, these will probably go far" - only so that, after all, their elimination is way more dramatic.
    I completely understand this, from an entertainment and audience standpoint (and need). However, in my view, it becomes a bit annoying when in the middle of the show you suddenly have just 20 players who (apart from 2 or 3 exceptions) you practically don't know. I mean, yes, we all know about the non-(tug-of)-war of pawns vs. protagonists, but it's so disconcerting to see players like Chaz, Rose or 269(?) get so far without having practically heard them speak and have any idea of what contribution they had to the game.
    The result, for me? Because I don't have a great appreciation for Mai (mostly since TJ) - a final with 3 players in which I can't root for any of them. And in a game where personal decisions were as much or more decisive than the challenges, it's kind of sad to reach such an unexciting final.
    Anyway, it's a (tv) game (and all that entails). And this one, is definitely a test of what you can believe in and to your endurance to digest games of luck.

    when I watched the first 2 or 3 episodes I really thought it was boring and mostly scripted, and wasn't honestly finding any player to root for (maybe doc) but all that changed when TJ was a key player, I stuck around because I was rooting for him. he was a true leader! a Team player! and definitely showed that you could play the game to win while being selfless which no other key player did (maybe doc also)

    I don’t agree with Ashley’s logic but she was funny as hell so I’m over it now.
    I’m glad Trey is mature and understanding about it. He definitely should have stood up for himself though. In Squid Games you gotta figure out when to be friendly and when to be ruthless and that was a ruthless moment. I think the guy behind Ashley would have stepped up eventually, I swear I remember hearing him say I’ll do it just before Trey took his final leap. It’s his own fault he got eliminated, he’s a grown human with full autonomy.

    People like TJ are tricky to read at times, they make themselves targets and come off as hard to trust bc they’re people pleasers and they feed off attention and always have to be the center of what’s going on or the leader of the group so it can be confusing and off putting to some people. I get why he would rub people the wrong way. He’s a showman but he is also trustworthy, that’s what’s confusing. Usually people who talk too much but have really nothing substantive to say and draw attention to themselves are not good or trustworthy but selfish opportunist and in it for themselves. Look at the workplace environment, the ones who get promoted are not the qualified, experienced workers who are good at their jobs but the self-serving idiots who don’t know jack but just talk a lot and kiss ass and play workplace politics and act like they’re ‘leaders.’ It’s all fake and posturing.
