Get a roll or 2 of black gorilla tape and rip off 2 or 3 pieces to put on corners. Takes time and a pain but will save your tarps. Liad blankets need to be doubled or tripled to keep from poking thru corners
Becca, you have to double up your blankets you double fold them and put them on the corners and if you’re gonna use corner protectors, put them underneath the blanket put the blanket on top but you have to double and triple fold your blankets on not single

This one time in Band camp, my wife and I picked up a load in orange, CA. Tarped , headed out and for 500 miles we tried to out run a winter storm headed across central U.S. it finally caught up with us in CO and my bungees turned to rock hard because of the temps and kept snapping. We finally had to stop in Eastern CO and let it pass to head out to Jersey.

I was told that those commercial rugs that they put in businesses work good for protecting tarps. Not sure if they would be easy to use though. They have that heavy rubber backing.

When you get knew tarps you should always keep one of the old tarps on the trailer so you can use it when you have a load that may mess your knew tarps up.
To save those tarps try folding the blankets in half or twice. If you don’t have the super thick ones. Those metal edges will cut through everything. You want the moving blankets loose and the tarps tight atleast that’s what’s worked for me
I use those moving blankets a lot and don't hold up. I you have to fold them to 4 or more layers to hold up and not poke through and damage your tarps.
You need some carpet pieces. Or some old school V boards. Remember tarp is a 4 letter word. Do they let you use straps on steel loads? It use to be chains. A little help if you turn sideways and you loosen the outside strap loop you can throw the strap over your head. Easier for higher loads and the strap will roll to the other side. Hard to explain.
There's a TA Express truckstop in Mount Vernon, TX that has paid parking that's like $10. I love staying there because it's not crowded at all like the other ones.

When you have a tall load like the one I had the wind gets a hold of the straps making them flap in the wind and don’t tend to stay tight long. When you twist them the wind goes through the straps! 😅
Try the kettle bell method backwards when throwing straps over hight items much easier for us short people and easier on the body just a tip from a kiwi truck driver ☺️

Felt pads are amazing for this reason. I have felt pads from hauling aluminum coils out of Logan Aluminum and Arconic.

When I haul flat steel I have them put the stacks together. It's easier to protect the tarp that way
