The Cefiros are Altimas in the middle east. Funny enough, '05 Altimas in the Middle east are Maximas in the US. Now to import parts you'd have to do some research haha.
If anyone wants to google these, this is an A31 Cefiro. The next model (A32) is a Maxima in the US. If you guys watch Haggard Garage, Grillo's "BBW Transporter" is an A32.
Another cool review David. This is so rare. I have seen a couple in Asia on my trips but WOW... this is awesome! The RHD cars are so disconcerting when you see them much less when you drive them but is awesome. Thanks for another great review.
There are LHD version available as they were imported to Europe and Turkey. The Turkish version had a carburated engine. My idea is to get one of those and front clip from a JDM A31, get a RB25, Tomei parts including cams, dump the twins and get a nasty big single, also 6 speed conversion.
These cars are really popular back home(Trinidad)...I remember my dad was going to buy one from a used car dealer and they wanted about TT$80.000...we also got another version that was badged "Laurel Altima"....those were over TT$200,000 brand new. They came with CA18, RB20 and RB25 engines...guys love to build and race these too...I know of one with a 2jz swap and another with an SR20 both pretty quick cars. Some guys use them as taxis too. Would love to get one of these here. Also like the C33 Laurel Medalist which is related to this car
Nice to see some JDM metal on here. I wonder how long it will take before you review one of the cars we exported. Though so many of them are gunmetal grey BNR32 GT-Rs. I don't know if I would recognize it.
I love this car, I currently have one of my own and I'm working on getting it back to the states, but it's not old enough yet since it's a 94 but it's nice to see there are some in the states already!
Cefiros are awesome, iv had one for nearly 10yrs and I still love it, I ran a couple of 25s with big turbo setups etc which go great but run a 2jz with a big single etc, no looking back
***** Well aware. They are on our streets like roaches here. I plan to buy an a33 after I sell the sentra so I used that in the reference. Also I thought it would convey the joke better since even two generations later it's still considered a 'Taxi-man' car.
Johnathan Burgess more like: wrong car sir! Ppl at Indonesia uses this cefiro to drift of course. My cousin did that. The one sold here is rb20e powered and they had popularity rising due to drifting. Going back to era before drifting happens here, this car is not even looked at all. It's hard to sell until recently price rises.
+Bitelaserkhalif *cringes* also don't forget it becomes easier to sell because it is significantly older. but yes the drive train is the most appealing part of the car.
I have one of these which originally came with an rb20det and HICAS steering. Swapped it for a rb25det neo. We have many in my country and some even came awd. They all come from the factory with RB engines and share the same suspension parts from other nissans such as the s13 silvia and c33 laurel.
Someone imported something other than a skyline into the US.... thats new! EDIT: The Cefiro had a LHD version produced in many other countries. Interesting enough, this car had a counterpart, Infiniti M30 or the Nissan Leopard in Japan. The M30 was only sold in the United States.
Mint! Its so strange seeing such a clean cefiro... In New Zealand these are common as hell, every single one has had the shit beaten out of it is rough as guts, just like mine xD I have the rb20e auto version which is sohc NA and slow as fuck, planning a manual conversion and rb30e upgrade sometime soon. So cool to see you review a ceffy! Love it man RFB
3:58 Final Konnexion is still around and making parts in JDM land. They are still pretty big in japan, but most of their business is for Kei cars. Glad to see an under appreciated platform getting some love.
thank u so much for reviewing that car ,waiting so long,i own one and i love them, and am from trinidad and tobago, should try comeing so u can review the ones we got down here,
The great thing about this car is that the suspension parts are interchangable with s13 suspension parts, r32 back suspension works as well as the four piston brakes from the r32 all the way up to the r34 works on this car...
I've wanted a Cefiro ever since I saw the white 88 model from Japanese Classics that was SR20-swapped and had ugly pink rims. Then when I saw they imported a gunmetal gray 89 Cefiro with 16" Rays wheels and it was like 99% stock, I was like "I must get one." Hopefully that day will come in the next year!
In the middle east those came out in 1989 as the new model of the nissan laurel c32 .. they were badged (laurel altima) kind of an introduction to the altima which came later without the laurel prefix. They came with the ca20s 4. Cyl. Carby engine and the rb24s 6cyl. Carby for the gts
Nice car. We have those cars in my country Saudi Arabia with left side steering wheel under the name of Nissan ALTIMA, they are most lighter cars produced in 1988 to 1995, and we love them. I used to have one with 1JZ twin turbo swap engine on it, and REALLY has aggressive power.
Mint review man . I'm in new Zealand and have owned many cefiros a little over 27 to be exact all a31 and even 1 factory turbo 4wd running the rb20det with gtr gearbox. had many factory turbo ones very popular car in nz. drifted the shit out of them all . love the white one you have reviewed especially with the factory autech kit. nice job
these are as normal as they get in trinidad, we have them by the hundreds over here, boosted as well as n/a. From rotary's, sr's, rb's to jz's, these are pretty much a canvas for any rwd engine there is, beautiful car.
I have always wanted to drive a right hand side car maybe one day. That is a beauty beat up a little like you said but who would not want that car. They have kept it up
are there any full reviews on the smurf like you have with everyone else's cars?! I need to see it! also do you have a track list for all these awesome songs you use in the beginning of a car review?
Not heard of this car... but definitely have heard of the engine! Yeaaa....RB20!! Looks and sounds clean too! The car makes me think of the Silvia and the 240sx.
its funny you say about the novelty of seeing a RHD JDM car because thats basically all we have where I live, a few Euros and rarely you'll see a LHD USDM vehicle its pretty cool for us.
In middle east like Dubai they have a left hand drive cefiro usually with different name & engine... nissan laurel altima & the engine was rb24s which a single cam inline 6 2.4 liters with carburetor...
The A31 Cefiro shared the same Engine, Transmission and rear Suspension as the R32 Skyline! Ive got a review coming up of one this week if you guys want to check it out :)
Nissan took the unusual step of making a left-hand drive version of the Cefiro A31, sold in Latin America, Turkey and other Eurasian countries as a Nissan Laurel ALTIMA - in most export markets this slot was filled by the Nissan Maxima. Unlike the Japanese versions, export models are fitted with a carburetted single cam CA20S inline-four producing 102 hp (76 kW) and RB24 engine which was a single-cam 2.4-liter RB inline-six producing 141 hp (105 kW). Left hand drive Laurel Altimas was the flagship vehicle of Nissan's Turkish lineup for the early 1990s.
Brother has one of these, 9/10 depends on the motor to be honest. Although it still doesnt beat my high liking of HR31 GTSXs, dad has one with an RB30/25 Turbo in it, makes so much power, and could easily wipe out this.
love the looks of it, alot wow, and the Richmond crew reference, you can drive it better so you can have it, after review, wow David you drove that so well why don't you keep it ahahah, and if you do can I have it its such an interesting cool car
it does have a 'counterpart' , maybe not an American model but The cefiro A31 was exported to the middle east and some other parts of the world under the name of Nissan Laurel Altima with a 2.0 4 cylinder and a 2.4 l6 both carburetor engines. here in dubai we have got some serious JZ and RB cefiros pushing 1000+ hp, so yeah..
Haha I've owned 3 of these they have exactly the same suspension and floor pan as a s13/240sx they have the Rb engine factory exactly the same as skylines only come 4 door! Great cars!
were i am from there are a lot of these on the road...most of the guys use the complete R32 Skyline suspension and brakes also the LSD diff will work :)
Cool to see one on here. They common as hell in New Zealand. Its one of the cool things about here. Any car that is jdm only ends up here in bucket loads. 500+ Evo 6.5s here
They made 1750 6.5's, 1000 for Japan and 500 were allocated to AUS/NZ and 250 for the UK. Australia wouldnt allow them to be imported so NZ got all 500. Then u add the ones that have been imported from Japan since. Heap have been turned into rally cars tho
EVERYTIME I find there is some neat looking jdm rwd manual sedan that we didn't get I wanna cry lmao. Cefiro's need more attention. They are a big thing here in New Zealand
How do they go as far as for a daily driver
Jarett Great car to drive around if you dont care about the FC.
New Zealand is JDM heaven. I feel sorry for the rest of the world lol

Isn't the RB20 like the black sheep of the RB family? I've heard they are really unreliable.
+Lhon Leal rear wheel drive?
+ThatDudeinBlue Good as always. But I got one thing I want to point out. You never told us the horsepower and torque...

Those cars are super popular in New Zealand.
Yep... my dad used to have 2 of 'em. A matte black one and a metallic white one.
