Though I never really knew him before Lawrence Leathers will be missed. It is a shame that we have to deal with our demons while we try to achieve the good of our lives whether it be drugs, alcohol, and violent relationships it is very hard to get around them, but thank you for what you did share and that we had the opportunity to be a part of it.
Listening to the Etude No 16 while knowing that the man who plays drums so beautifully on this tune is no longer with us makes me emotional... R.I.P. Lawrence Lethers +

Just watched this as I am a huge fan of Aaron Diehl, having seen perform him live. He’s one of the most dynamic and gifted jazz pianists of our day. However, the camera work left much to be desired. It’s as if the producer forgot that the trio is lead by Aaron. Often he is playing some of the most exquisite passages and the camera was focused on the bass player’s face or the back of the drummer’s head or the back of Aaron in such a way that you couldn’t see his hands! You only have three musicians in a trio but the rhythm section, although exceptional, are a support to the leader - the pianist. I wanted to see what the pianist was doing much more than was shown. So frustrating! I could go on but suffice it to say I felt a severe lack of proper focus where it needed to be when it needed to be on the leader! 🤷🏻♂️ Grade F for failing to produce properly. The performers were however superb.
The drummer Lawerence was my friend and classmate all through jazz band in high school R.I.P BROTHER
That was a really sad day.. I met the man once at a show in Jacksonville and he was the most confident but humble man I've ever met.
