    UPI is huge...
    You gotta be in India with someone Indian to believe how much integrated it is in common people lives. I rarely keep any cash with me and even if I do I don't need to spend it cuz 99% of the time I can pay from my phone. and the money goes directly from send to receiver bank account.. no e-wallet etc

    In India there is something called 'Aadhar' and PAN which can be used as such identifiers. These identifiers are linked to your bank accounts. In US, there is some similar identifier SSN, but not exactly of the same nature as compared to Aadhar id of India.

    Stripe is a payment gateway that uses a credit or debit card to process payments. UPI is an entire payment protocol in itself and is not a card based payment system.
    Essentially it allows for direct bank account to bank account transfers via a unique payment ID or address. And it’s 100% free. No fees or anything

    I guess for UPI to work (may be in any country), more than having the app in the phone, there should be some sort of system/framework which mandates every citizen to have one or more Unique identifier for each of them , against which some PII will be linked. These unique identifiers can be used by several govt. Tools for different purpose.

    For tapping a card vendor should have a device. While upi happens just by scanning the QR code or entering the phone no. Of the vendor. Mostly we don't carry cash anymore😊👍

  • @subinks1
    @subinks1 Год назад

    So if there is some govt. Approved unique identifier for each and everybody.. then fin. tools like UPI can come into existence, which basically makes use of these identifiers , and assign a upi id for you, which will be linked to your aadhar id, which in turn will be linked to your bank account. For making any payment, you can use your upi id inside any UPI app (linked to you bank account , via you aadhar and pan), and send money to another similar upi id (i e , this is in effect a direct bank a/c to beneficiary bank a/c money transfer which will get credited to your beneficiary bank accounts in seconds).
    No need to use ,paper currency for daily necessities, cheques, atm's, debit cards, or even credit cards (UPI will soon start supporting credit card accounts even)
