This release of the 1/18 truck from Redcat caught me by surprise. If you follow the channel you saw that Christmas 2023 I purchased a new 1/10 Ascent. I really enjoy that truck and when I saw this for $99USD on release, it was a no brainer for me. Being in Canada we had to wait for a while for this to arrive after it's USA release date. I hope you like the overview and test on my crawler course. It wasn't sent to me for review so here's my video with my unbiased review. The body mount wingnut/key was a little tight on mine as well. A little adjustment with the hex screw made it operate easier. Haven’t tried it yet, but am thinking an o-ring in between the wingnut and hex would make it operate even better….just enough tension to hold the key in place when getting the body on, but enough flex to turn it easily.
Hey JT! Good call... makes sense. It's screwing into plastic so backing it out a touch shouldn't hurt. I'll give it a try. Also noticed you can flex the lexan in the front and the c clamp on the front comes free. If you move the ESC to the front you can do that to access the power button.

Mo e the esc to rock slider with two sided tape then you can reack power button
Hey Dan! That's a good idea. I've seen people do that and then it would be able to be reached. People remove the battery tray and velcro a smaller lipo on the opposite skid plate to balance the left and right weight. I think though what makes sense is to put the ESC in the front for more weight up front and then it's still not reachable. We'll see. Minor gripe but I appreciate your comment and idea. Let's just say I will own one in the future, but I don't think anytime soon! lol. You never know though!
I’m just waiting for the ascent fusion to come can’t wait, and will probably be the first one in the uk to have as dealers have to be Redcat certified and there are non in 🇬🇧 hopefully only a phew will make it over here heheee lol😂

@@waynoo774 I had to wait for the Ascent 18 to come to Canada and then had it shipped to me so that took longer too. I didn't know this model was in the works and this caught me by surprise. And the Fusion as well! No idea that was in the works. I'm very interested in one but I don't see getting one for a while. I do a lot of trading and been selling stuff here and there. My next project is taking my SCX10ii and swapping it over to a LCG frame kit I got my eye on. I got my trail trucks in the ascent and gen 7... the rock bouncer truck can do everything well too, the ascent and the injora rock buggy are great crawlers and now gonna move the scx10ii from trail truck to a comp style rock crawler. I can do it on a pretty good budget. Thanks for the comments my friend!
I have a MJX HYPER GO, DRIFT TANK and a WPL C24 are good starters but not that capable obviously they are only cheep tho, but by the time you put money into them might as-well spend a-bit more for already capable trucks, I just come across the fusion by mistake never heard of Redcat before and just thought wow got to get that lol
And it is coming today Thursday 🇬🇧 a week early
@@waynoo774 Yeah man I hear what you are saying. You can expect that stock tires and most times the shocks will need upgrading on most ready to run models. I tried a WPL model (c24 as well) and I was not a fan really. I pass on them. Hyper Go's are great though! Do your research on youtube and that should go a long way in helping you decide!
Could you compare it to the AUSTAR considering the price?
Hey Andre. Thanks for the idea! I will do a video to compare the two models. But if you are thinking of getting an Ascent 18, this is the introductory price for $99USD... then it goes up to $129 so now is the time to save the money if you want one. I'll say this off the top though, BOTH are great and you can't go wrong with either. Thanks for watching and thanks for a great comment.
