There is a local reporter in Denver who is named, Tak Landrock. He always reminds me of this episode. It would have been a perfect addition to the many names of David Ryder.
I showed this while hanging with some 15 year olds (I was like, 19?) they were so bored and hated it. Anyway this is why you shouldn't hang out with 15 year olds. Even if you are 15, maybe find an older cousin to chill with.
I love how all the computers on the set are actual functioning home computers from 1988 or earlier. If you freeze frame on the one that Sting puts David Ryder's ID card into, it is very clearly an IBM clone.
7 years ago i was watching this with my girlfriend and we were crying. my sides were sore the next day and well, her insides were. i miss those nights.
Oh man, this episode is def up there with the list of ones I laughed so hard I cried. ESPECIALLY the end of the final showdown... those comments. And the thing about the 'hey you're dead', haha. One of the biggest continuity blunders I've ever seen in a movie, given it was literally the next scene and there she was.
The world suffered a great loss with the death of West Side Story star David Winters just three weeks. He's signing Cherie's birthday card in heaven now.
but that actually was ILM doing the effects. i always wondered "why does this movie look like shit but the special effects look cool?" then realized they just ripped off the original battlestar galactica ship shots. one of the best MST3K riffs ever.
ILM didn't do the F/X for the 70s Battlestar Galactica. They were done by John Dykstra, who did the effects for the first Star Wars but then he & his company did BG instead of Empire. The name ILM wasn't even coined yet...
I can't believe they never mentioned the parts this movie literally stole directly from Battlestar Galactica and inserted into their movie as if it were their own work LOL. Seems like that would have been a great opportunity for jokes.
I MST3K! Pluto TV is showing new episodes on the MST3K channel (on Pluto TV, 13 new episodes featured this month). How exciting indeed! Aw yeah #MST3K #PlutoTV #MST3KOnPlutoTV

I had a boss named Bob Johnson. After a week or so, I felt the need to explain why I was always laughing at him.
Why we love Space Mutiny? Because we put our faith in Blast Hardcheese!
This is not only my favorite MST3K episode but the one I introduce friends and family to who have never seen the show, as shocking as that sounds.
I've used itcas an intoductory epiode too. It perfectly showcases what MST3K is about.
Agree completely, its an enjoyable crappy movie in its own right, the riffs make it fantastic!
I usually go with "A case of spring fever," but this is a magnificent episode.

There is no godly reason why this should delight me as intensely as it does, but you can't fight Chuck Beefsteak.
