  • Microsoft just launched Office Scripts. A new scripting language that can be used to replace what VBA has always done. Here I compare and contrast the two products, their script recorders, their code editors, which versions they work on plus where they do and don't work. We go through several examples to compare including formatting cells, building charts, relative and absolute referencing, charts as well as exploring if/then clauses plus how to create buttons inside workbooks. For the features you cannot do natively with the script recorder, I go through where you can find resources for more information, on either Excel or Excel Online and I run through the complex versioning which you need to know for both tools.

I really appreciate this - great simple examples, great comparisons with VBA, great summary of where we are now and may be going.
    Thanks.

Hi David, I'm trying in vain to create sections and pages via Excel vba via API in onenote sections. If you don't have any ideas for your content and are familiar with the matter, I would be very interested.
