You are missing the point Seasmoke had a very strong bond with Laenor and they even mention that he missed Laenor. Dragon can sense the blood of their riders and knows Addam has the same blood as Laenor, as they are both Corlys’ sons.
Their bloodline mixed after Aenar left Valyria. I doubt there was any mixing before that in the valyrian freehold as the Targaryens were dragonlords while Velaryons were just an house. The dragonlords kept it to themselves
Not for centuries, only 1 century. The Velaryons lived in Driftmark way before the doom (maybe even a century before) and the Targaryens went to Dragonstone 14 years before the doom happened. They began marrying during the century of blood, the century that followed the fall of the Valyrian Freehold. The Velaryons were the only pure-blooded good enough ones left to marry for the Targaryens. So about 125 years ago.
In the book, I belive Alyn and Addam are officially Laenor’s children, but rumours say they are Corlys’. Making Laenor 100% gay as opposed to say bi does remove this ambiguity
@@Alejojojo6OP is correct, it’s been roughly two centuries they’ve been intermarrying. The dance of dragons takes place around 129AC, plus the century of blood you mentioned takes it to over two centuries.
Agreed about that scene and the actors really sold it Tom Glynn has really been quite good bringing so much to every scene he is in - more than what the writing even provides him. I think he’s an underrated actor. Larys lines were powerfully delivered but the lines themselves were really good too and were perfect for that dynamic between them Juxtapose that with the Mysaria Rhae scene.
@@astrojeet I've been watching interviews with the cast and Larys' actor seems naturally gentle and sensitive. I had a feeling he'd be great with emotional scenes, so I was so happy to see them give Larys more depth. It makes for a more interesting villain.

The detail I love about the first vision is that Daemon was able to get out of the throne room only after asking for it with "Please". I love watching Alys give him a proper psychotherapy treatment, they portray the arc very realistically for a tv show in my opinion (and that's why I don't mind it taking a whole season, because change requires time and push-and-pull from the person going through it).
There are a few of Daemon's hallucinations that actually makes sense in my opinion... So the problem isn't that it's slow but they were lazy when they wrote these scenes. Doesn't add anything to his character at all.
@@Hear.myvoice Maybe they just want to drive certain points to home to those viewers who weren't so keen on paying close attention to him during the first season? The director even had to explain people that Daemon wasn't knowingly sleeping with his mother in the dream last ep and was horrified when he realized it. Lol, I still can't believe that it had to be explicitly said when it was all there on the screen... But oh well, maybe people will understand Daemon better now, but most importantly Daemon will have the peace Rhaenyra said he has always lacked. I find the visions very on-point. Repetitive in a way, but Daemon has a lot of stuff he has to work through - guilt as a feeling is quite nasty to work with.
@@keltavuokko If you are a writer you have to accept that most of the viewers won't understand half of the scenes you dreamed to your story... But As a viewer who does understand this show I don't want watered down scenes gor the "dumb" people.
@@Hear.myvoice I have to disagree on the writer having to accept that most viewers won't understand the scenes. I think writers can choose their target audience, and they always have to. I agree, though, that I wouldn't mind the scenes being more complicated, but then again, processing guilt and self-image is not a A-to-B journey but one where the person goes back and forth in loops, so I find Daemon's arc very realistic and don't mind that most of the scenes have been very easy to read thus far for me. I find his inner process captivating regardless. Maybe we just have to agree to disagree.
@@keltavuokko I totally agree!!! I love seeing Daemon vulnerable like this. It just shows not even a rogue prince is invincible to emotions and bad deeds
I’m sure that’s how the show writers will make sense of it being that they are Corlys’ sons I also think though it plays more to the point that they are seemingly making - that the “idea the Targaryens (in particular) control the dragons - is an illusion
@@OpeningsOpeningsGood point they mentions in the previous episode that Targaryens often create legends around their House to maintain power and even in the first season the King says it is a lie that Targaryens control the dragons
Am I the only one that thinks Olivia Cooke is a stand-out this season, she brings so much to Alicent's character, I loved her scene with Gwayne... you could tell how happy she was to find out that Daeron was "kind" unlike his brothers. I definitely prefer Show Alicent to Book Alicent mainly because of Olivia Cooke's performance and just how complex Alicent is in the show whereas in the book she was pretty one-dimensional.
Yes I LOVE watching her this season. I haven’t read the books but from my understanding she’s much more one dimensional in the books. I’ve seen comments saying both Alicent and Rhaenyra are boring this season but I love their performances and the slow pace.
@@Jacob-j2otbh most of the characters in F&B are pretty one dimensional. It covers like 150 years so a lot of characters get like 1-2 chapters. Even the characters from HOTD barely get any development. I think it’s a book more focused on the events/history of the family, than the individuals in the family itself
I agree!! Sad to see people think she’s getting too much screentime. I also feel like people are hating her too much/not getting her character. If she was the way she was in the book it’d be understandable in my opinion.
Aegon’s Kingsguard are incompetent but tbh, what else was the guy who cut that man’s hand supposed to do? He just laid his hand on the dowager queen without her permission. That’s to be expected.
But the guy who grabbed her arm was seemingly trying to help her - not hurt her. He was the one who said “MY queen” where those who were attacking were disdainful and shouting that Rhaenyra was the rightful queen So they messed up there
Even Aegon The Conqueror himself wasn´t himself a full Targaryen, his mother was Velaryon. So, this 2 families have mixed blood between the two, and Lord Corlys had Targaryens on his family time after time.
he did not Velaryon married into Targarens but Targaryens never married into Velaryons and Velarons are not dragon lords even it was stated in s1 and so are not Celtigars dragons that we see came to Westeros with Targaryen they got bonded with them with blood magic so they only listen to their blood
@@queenxx1690 Aegon the Conqueror's Velaryon mother herself had a Targaryen mother. @@queenxx1690 You say you know it but then you say the opposite. If I can point out one occasion where a Targaryen woman married a Velaryon man, then that disproves your claim that it never happened. I do agree the Velaryons weren't dragonlords as they never had dragons (until Laena and Laenor that is), but it's not impossible that they inherited dragonriding blood (if that is a thing) from that Targaryen ancestor.
@@thomasvrielink299 The Targaryen line has been well fleshed out. It didn't happen. At least not in recent history. And if it was during the Doom, then Steffon Darklyn would have more that the two brothers, and he was still burned alive. It's more likely that Alyn and Addams mother had Targaryen blood, as its mentioned that plenty of the smallfolk on both Driftmark and Dragonstone have a touch of their blood.
House Velaryon of Driftmark has been marrying their prince and princess with House Targaryen for hundreds of year even before Aegon Conquest. Aegon's the Conqueror's mother is a Velaryon. His son also married a Velaryon; because despite not being dragonlords, the Velaryon shared the blood of Old Valyria, costume and history which House Targaryen took pride of.
Everyone in the castle can see Alys, but they never look her in the eye or talk to her because they are all afraid of her. She pretty much owns Harrenhal Castle.
@@davidschwake8274 Or there is an Alys, but it is not the one Daemon is seeing. The real Alys maybe already with Lord Tully, how else should she have been able to make the journey in 3 days (or even less, depending on how fast a raven from Riverrun to Harrenhal is ;-) )
@@rexibhazoboa7097: Not very reasonable. Harrenhal is at least 250 miles from Riverrun based on maps (and that's being generous for the sake of argument). A horse is generally assumed to be able to cover 25-35 miles each day with a rider, but not for too many days, so that's already pushing it. If we assume the most extremely endurant horse in all of Westeros, capable of traveling 50 miles per day for well over a week, then we're still talking at least 5 days each way. More realistic would probably be that it'd take at least 10 days each way, and probably more. The estimate for the raven is probably fair though, it'd likely take 4-7 hours each way depending on the exact speed.
We are probably supposed to be unsure about the way dragons choose a rider.Seasmoke could be simply choosing Laenors halfbrother because he reminds him of Laenor ,or it could be because Velaryons got a drop or two of Targaryen blood by marriages,or he likes him because Addam is ambitious and adventurous(a bit like Laenor again)as we see in his conversation with Alyn,in contrast to ser Steffon who is all about jumping this hurdle just to please his queen,or all of the above
I LOVED the concept that dragons choose their riders in more ways than one! Seasmoke went and chose Addam to be his rider. Most likely because he sees/senses Laenor in him since he's Corly's son too, but gosh I loved this!

So glad to read people are understanding. I've seen reactors and commenter act completely dense man. Like wth do you think they've been showing these guys since the beginning of the season for? 😂😂
Alys Rivers has become one of my favorite characters, she's so oddly arrogant and mysterious. The very first time I saw her, she just walks in, glaring at everybody while they are all bending the knee to Daemon. She treats Daemon Targaryen like he's a wayward child and walks around like she owns Harrenhal Castle. No one ever confronts her about anything, plus she can control owls. Is Alys Rivers even her real name, who or what is she, in reality?
Most likely an agent of the children of the forest and the old gods, as well as a champion of innocent… buuut theres the risk shes an agent of the night king and seeks all dragons to die for the future invasion to take place
There's a good amount of theories as to her exact identity/role but what IS known about her is that she is indeed a witch, multiple centuries old, and is very protective of Harrenhal because it's right at the known epicenter of the Old Gods' magic. Harren Hoare's story is a lot like Icarus mixed with the Tower of Babel. Harren commanded the building of the largest and most impenetrable castle in all of Westeros, cut down numerous fields of Wierwood trees to do it, and then on the same day the castle is completed his entire line is extinguished by the one thing they didn't account for. It's about man's pride in spite of the Gods, and I believe Alys Rivers is indeed this 'Ghost of Harrenhal' that haunts every family that takes dominion over what is essentially sacred ground. Perhaps Balerion burning Harren the Black was divine intervention, and Alys Rivers' continued protection over it is simply her carrying out the will of the Gods. Knowing all of this and also knowing the actual mysterious magic that surrounds and protects the Gods' Eye, personally I believe she's a Child of the Forest using glamour magic to make herself appear human. She has a bastard name which conveniently means she has no known parentage or ties in any family in the country.
I know I am super late to this reaction but I did want to say - there WERE other Dragonlord families in Valyria, the Targs were just the only ones who made it out. However, both the Velaryon and Celtigar families are of direct Valyrian descent, but were not high enough in the nobility of Valyria to have dragons. It's a mystery in the book if Alyn and Addam are Laenor's bastards or Coryls', but it's pretty clear by their ages that they are Corlys' in the show. What this means for the laws of dragon-taming I can't really say (but in-universe no one really knows anyway). However, in the book, there is also a character named Nettles who is a commonborn person with NO Valyrian features who only knew her mother (she was also a bastard) and tamed a dragon (actually, probably the dragon Rhaena is after right now - she gets a different one in the book via hatching an egg) by feeding it sheep every day until the dragon Sheepstealer let her mount him. There is also the thought that Nettles was Daemon's bastard, but never confirmed - so if she was, that makes sense, but if she wasn't, she was just a random person able to gain the dragon's trust by feeding it (quite similarly to how the Valyrians, who were originally shepherds, first tamed dragons: by feeding them sheep lol).
@@queenxx1690 lied about what? She did tell him it was dangerous. He shouldn't have celebrated too early. The dragon was ready to let Ser Steffon ride him and he said "i've done it" before he was even sitting in the saddle. Pretty dumb move tbh.
Haelana could have been talking about Daeron. He’s a musician so it probably means he dies at some point or he drops the music and is ready for war. He stops singing.
its probably the fact 3 crickets were there, 3 known untamed dragons in vermithor, silverwing and seasmoke and one stops singing cause seasmoke has a new rider
@@joemcauley5800 it’s her wording that matters more she specifically saids stops singing after they’ve been talking about Daeron who we know is a musician. Not saying you’re wrong but don’t come dismissing my theory like you 100% correct. We all guessing here.
Interesting theory. But you think they would mention that now, when he won't show up until next season? Normally her dreams come true in the same season.
She was talking about Aegon he stopped talking which is strange for him but Aemond forced him 3 crickets represent Aegon Aemond and Helaena in cages (in red keep)and she knows it is weird for him...Aegon to stop singing
About Rhaenyra, it's been implied since S1E1 that Rhaenyra and Alicent might have been having feeling for each other as more than friends, and that's why Rhaenyra was so angry and hurt that Alicent married her father and why Alicent was so angry and judgemental about Rhaenyra and Daemon/Cole/Harwin. The actresses themselves (Mille and Emily) said that they played them like that. I started picking up on Rhaenyra and Mysarias chemistry since the first time they met again after the timeskip, but I agree that it is a little bit questionable to have the kiss right after Mysaria opening up about abuse. But I still think how the scene out was good. I don't think she went in for it expecting a kiss, she genuinely just wanted to hug and support her. And then they were both just not letting go, and Mysaria was the one who started kissing Rs neck.
I think the topic of conversation wasn’t solely on Mysaria’s tragic past, it’s more the fact that they share their vulnerability with one another and the reason why Mysaria sees Rhaenyra as a worthy leader. They are two very sensual people. It makes sense they’d want to explore intimacy in someone they respect. Rhaenyra said a long time ago that part of the difficulty in creating heirs with Leanor was that he didn’t desire her. She gravitates to that.
In S2E2 I remember how Rhaenyra circled around Mysaria, eyeing her almost like a hungry lioness, she studied Mysaria intensely, there was a strong sensual undercurrent to her curiosity for sure and it was mirrored in Mysaria's gaze as well
@@bluegypsy71 I noticed a lot of people in the LGBTQ+ community always clock it early lol. I’m bisexual and felt it but was hoping they’d keep it all business. Rhae Rhae can get a pretty side piece from elsewhere
I wasn't surprised at the kiss since I always thought that Targs were open/ fluid sexually anyway (based on the tapestries in S1). I just didn't think the kiss fit the vibe of the scene which was quite serious. On the other hand, since Mysaria was the one initiating taking it further, it really made me think she was the one manipulating Rhaenyra. The sinister music was playing during that scene too.
The blood of old Valyria is what gives the traits of white hair, pale skin and purple eyes in the books, Targaryens have the blood of old Valyria and Velaryons are referred to as most mythical so Targaryens inbred to keep the traits in there line. Living in or being from Valyria doesn’t mean you have the blood of old Valyria so no not every family in Valyria befor the doom could claim a dragon but the blood of old Valyria is what gives the Targaryens the power to claim dragons not the other way around. Velaryons were also included in Targaryen breeding and it’s also said in the book that the only house they consistently had relations with were house Velaryon because the traits came from them. It’s also confirmed by the show creator and is why they specifically chose house velaryon to diversify, changing the thing that maid them so unique from purple eyes and white hair to dark skin and pale hair.
Exactly in an interview for Entertainment weekly Ryan J. Condal and Miguel papochnik confirm that Velaryons have the blood of old Valyria giving them the ability to claim a dragon. Entertainment weekly Ryan J. Condal and Miguel Papochnik “The Velaryons, like those of House Targaryen, have the blood of Old Valyria in their veins. Though they don't generally care to mount dragons, they command the oceans on ships. It was their fleet that helped Aegon "The Conqueror" Targaryen take over Westeros years earlier. Lord Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint), nicknamed the Sea Snake after his favored ship, is the most famous of them, having traveled farther than any in Westeros.” "Long, long ago when he was conceiving of this world, [Martin] himself had considered the idea of making Velaryons a race of Black people with silver hair that essentially came from the other side of the ocean and conquered Westeros," he says. "That's a fascinating idea and that always really stuck with me because it's such a stark image. I just thought, 'Well, why couldn't we do a version of that now?'" Both Condal and Sapochnik felt strongly about featuring a person of color in a powerful position of nobility in the context of the story. In House of the Dragon, that would be Lord Corlys. Condal explains they "didn't want to do it in a way that felt like it was an afterthought or, worse, tokenism." They also wanted to avoid the recurring image of people of color showing up in fantasy sagas as pirates, slaves, and mercenaries. "It's not any of that at all," Condal says. "I've seen people that look like myself on screen in these types of high-fantasy stories since I was born because I'm a white guy. What's it like for everybody else? ... We went back and just looked at the story and said, 'How do we do this in a way that can feel like it's done integrally with the story?'"
Aemond trying to say Larys devotion to his family is in doubt because of what he did to his brother and father when him betraying his family is the reason Otto became hand again plus Larys became the Lord of Harrenhall and inherited all the riches while Aemond tried to kill Aegon and couldn't finish the job and only gained a temporary position. I'm glad Alyss broke Daemon down because he needed to understand that he can't do this without Rhaenyra just like she needs to understand she can't win without him. The white worm's idea of sending the food was the chess move that Rhaenyra needed because she lost the people when the little boy got his head cutt off. Seasmoke was the mvp of the episode. Loved the reaction by the way.
Adam was scared of sea smoke because anyone would be scared of a dragon flying at you out of nowhere but once he realized the dragon was looking at him differently than prey he began to be more overjoyed than scared.
the Targaryens and Velaryons came to westeros at the same time and have been marrying for hundreds of years.. they definitely have more dragon rider blood then most other houses
I personally believe Mysaria is playing the same game as Larys. She's just using different methods and working to her strengths hence the sinister overtones of the background music during their kiss. Rhaenyra is in a very vulnerable position right now as is Aegon. I can't say I fully trust Mysaria or even know just what it is she wants but I do know that playing along with Rhaenyra's advances gets her one step closer to whatever that thing is. A clever character indeed.
I agree. I think Mysaria initiated the deeper intimacy of that hug too. I definitely do not trust her and she will probably cause more problems between Rhae and Daemon.
How do no reactors realise that Addam is Laenor's brother through Corlys? Lol. That's why Seasmoke wants him to be his rider, they smell similar and have the same blood.
I don't read the books, but I saw a bit on social media that Seasmoke choosing a new rider means Leanor died. We saw Seasmoke circle Alyn in a previous episode, and here again. So I think Seasmoke's connection to Laenor was finally broken by Laenor's death (that would mean Leanor died immediately after his mother, Rhaenys, which makes me wonder if it was self-inflicted rather than coincidence), and Seasmoke sensed (smelled?) Laenor's Valyrion blood in Alyn (some online are joking he has a "type," but...) and decided to bond with him. Again, no book spoilers here, but I assume Ulf the White and Addam will bond with Vermithor and Silverwing. It doesn't seem like Rhaena is a candidate for whatever reason. I'm sure by next season, some of Rhaneyra's younger sons will be aged.
Keynote - Valyrian blood, blood magic, whips and inbreeding used to tame Dragons. It’s NOT only the Targaryen blood, they were other houses who were the dragon lords. Velaryons are from old Valyria as well, after lots intermarriage Corlys has some portion of dragon blood and so are his offspring.
Thank you!! Everyone is stuck on it being only the Targaryens. Forgetting that the other houses existed too. And that this the choosing of riders is a magical thing not wholly understood in the first place lol
The Velaryons and even the Celtigars are Valyrians and came to Westeros even before the Targs. But they were never dragon riders though. Yes there were other houses in Valyria who rode dragons but they all died during the doom.
@@danielleeskelton Dude, it’s known that they were NOT Dragon riders and neither did I say they were. We are talking about the blood placidly passed after marriage. The difference in attitude between Tyland and Kevan Lannister is easily explained. Tyland spends all day around people of higher station than he. Kevan gets his ass kissed on a daily basis at Casterly Rock
I don't think Daemon was crying tears of relief or happiness at the news of Grover Tully's death. I believe it was more being confronted with his own brutal ambition after his visions of Viserys and the realization that he should have been kind and loving rather than ambitious and vindictive. It could also be that Oscar Tully (the grandson of Grover Tully) whom Daemon met with a few episodes ago, reminds him of his own grief upon losing his brother and brings him to the realization that he has now had a hand in inflicting the same grief and pain on another person.
Even before aegon the conqueror, the velarions and Targeryans intermarried. Like aegons grandma or someone is a Valerion. That's why corlys has Targeryan blood and thus also does adam
OK I will agree with you that the moment for Rhaenyra and Mysaria to kiss doesn't fit the tone of the scene with the trauma discussion, but I do not find it inconsistent at all for her character as portrayed in the show. The duck/goose conversation occurred when she was 16. There has been plenty of time for her tastes to change, and she has always been impulsive when it comes to following her sexual desires. That said, one thing that I think frequently gets overlooked, particularly by reactors, is that Rhaenyra can ALWAYS be read as queer to some degree. She does not HAVE to be read that way, but it is a legitimate interpretation of her character based on her behavior in the show, particularly in relation to Alicent. I'm not going to say that they were secretly in love, but they were closer than average friends, with Rhaenyra even suggesting (lightheartedly) that they run away together on Syrax and eat only cake. It's the kind of extremely close codependent female friendship that sometimes forms between girls at that age, one that either burns out over time, turns into a near sister bond, or turns into your first love. Rhaenyra and Alicent were separated by duty and circumstance before that friendship could reach any sort of natural conclusion. And as a result, neither Rhaenyra or Alicent seem to be able to fully let go of each other- its one of the major recurring themes in the show. Alicent kept the page Rhaenyra tore out of her book for DECADES. Even through the period of their lives where they hated each other, Alicent didn't throw it away. Rhaenyra throws caution to the wind and goes to kings landing to plea with Alicent to find a way to stop the war even after her son's death. In a queer reading, this can be attributed to some desire for the closure they never received as children, a longing for the knowledge of what they might have been to each other if circumstances had been different. On another note, as many queer fans have rightly pointed out, gender roles and gender presentation have always been particularly important for Rhaenyra. I am not arguing that she is closeted trans, that is not really a concept that exists in their time and world and even if it did, they wouldn't think about it in the same ways we do. But Rhaenyra, being the first ever female heir in her dynasty, naturally has an interesting relationship with gender. In this episode, we see her say that Daemon was everything she wanted to be--free, a warrior, and a man. (On another interesting note, getting romantically involved with Daemon's former whore could be seen as a fulfillment of that desire.) Someone who would be taken seriously, who would be given respect she has never been afforded. And even earlier, in s1 when she sneaks out with Daemon in disguise, she expresses delight at being called "boy" by a city guard. Rhaenyra wants the power and respect and freedom that come with being a man in her world, not because she dislikes being a woman, but because there is a disconnect between her gender and the role she is asked to fill. So yeah. Mysaria and Rhaenyra kissing at that moment might have been off, but I would argue that it's not necessarily out of left field for Rhaenyra to be queer on some level, and even before this a queer reading of Rhaenyra was a legitimate and reasonable analysis, though certainly not the only possible interpretation for her character.
@@queenxx1690 No, there were many instances where Velyarions married into Targaryens and vice versa. Example: Rhaenys married into the Velyarions and I think Aegon the Conqueror's Mother was a Velyarion
I love this episode. Rhaenyra Door Dashing food to KL was smart. It had the effect that Mysaria said it would. Never thought I would be for an Aegon/Larys team up but here we are. I don’t see how the white worm rhaenyra was ‘out of place’ really, I’m not saying I really care about it having a little intimacy or not bc I really don’t lol, but they were both being vulnerable opening up about some very personal things, rhaenyra talking about some personal stuff that she doesn’t really talk about with anyone, and the white worm finally revealing what happened with the scar on her neck,.. being vulnerable about deep stuff is a pretty common/ understandable lead up to personal moment of kissing/connecting lol
The Targaryens, Velaryons, and Celtigars (lord Celtigar was the one slapped by Rhae) were the 3 leftvover Valyrian family. They often interbred with each other. I think Aegon the conquer's mother or grandmother was a Velaryons. They often inter-married.
I am so glad to hear a reactor say "after the story of the father!" everyone else is all about it, but that was and is my first thought... you tell that story and Rhaenyra's response is basically to get turned on.... If that was Cole in that room hearing that story instead of Rhaenyra, the internet would be having a melt down about what a nasty, disgusting, creep he is, but since it is Rhaenyra it is all great.
Yeah. Exacvtly this inherently i think as R is lonely and kinda she was established as soft bisexual (i got those vibes from early Alicent scenes in season 1). or at least she is established as kinda promiscuous, witch as even in our medieval times was not so weird at all. But whole Misandria arch in this season is very weak. Essentially Rhaenyra trusted her on word in one day??? And now she is even kissing her. Thats bonkers, even for capricious, unexperienced and misguided Rhaenyra. IDK this drasticalla ruins flow of this season. That could even becamo problematic if they go forward with it. So much power under palm of Misandria is crazy talk.
Mentioning Cole in this situation doesn’t make any sense because he doesn’t have that emotional connection with Mysaria and isn’t the same person as Rhaenyra. But let’s compare this to Robb and Talisa: remember when Talisa was telling that story about how her brother drowned and then they had sex? It’s because of the vulnerability and intimacy felt with a person that you feel so connected to them in a moment like that.
33:06 The Velaryons and Targaryens both come from old Vayria, and the Targaryens were not the only dragon lords there so valyrian blood can easily be mixed to the Velaryons as time goes. The Targaryens and the Velaryons usually marry within the family so it would be no surprise if Corlys had Targaryen blood. And I think he actually even does if I remember the family tree correctly. Also just to point out, we don't know who Alyns and Addams mother is, so she could be a Targaryen bastard or have a Targaryen blood in her ansestors
Pudgy got it there at the end. The romance they're building isn't about sex or sexual preference, it's about someone seeing you for who you are and loving you
I just wish they hadn’t cheapened it by adding the more s(5ual tone. You can still be seen by and love a friend very deeply for who they are without it bringing forth a sensual kind of connection I for one think it would have been nice to still build upon that being seen for who the are motive without the kiss. It would have been great to see a strong friendship between two women who could have seen each other as rivals but instead recognize the power between them can be shared. It also would have drawn a stronger parallel to Alicent - what she and Rhaenyra could have chosen
@@rexibhazoboa7097it wasn’t There is an article about it. It was left ambiguous but the actors decided to take it there. Mizuno says it in an interview
Mysaria and rhaenyra barely know each other and are only just now starting to trust each other. To speak about them being "in love" is completely laughable. They are friends and confidants, with some sexual attraction.
Dont forget Jon was mixed Stark and Targeryon and was a rider. So should not surprise us Seasmoke chose this brother. Loving this season and your reactions!
You'll notice that Aemond put Alicent's ball ( I think it's hers - correct me if I'm wrong) from the small council in Aegon's hand when he visited him. I think it was to show Aegon, without saying a word, that he'd removed her from the council (hence removing her ball from it, too). Knowing that his mother, the last dissenting person that would stand up to Aemond, now has no power to protect Aegon from his brother's machinations, must have been terrifying for him.
Adam andAlyn are both Corlys sons. Adam got the silver hair. That’s how genes work. Alicents kids could’ve been born with brown hair too or 1 out of the 4 probs. In the books, Rhaenys has black hair from her Boratheon mother which is why it’s easy to pass Jace, Luke, and Joffrey as not bastards, but they made the Velaryons black-in this and it made it more difficult to understand the lore of Valyrians.
The Velaryon's and Targaryens have mixed bloodlines for a long time by now. Also, Velaryons were also a house from Old Valyria, so it's very feasible they were also dragonriders in the past. The show made them black to distinguish them from the Targs to make it easier for viewers but in the lore they look extremely similar.
Targaryens and Velaryons are of the blood of Old Valyria! Once you are of that blood line their is the potential to be a dragon rider. Addam having Velaryon blood qualifies him. However, Seasmoke only ever had one rider which was Laenor and the dragon kinda finds Addam resembles him. If u notice in previous episodes seasmoke been stalking addam on the beach. I guess he was expecting addam to claim him but he didnt know...
When it comes to that scene with Halena mentioning how the bug no longer sings, If you notice, those look like little bird cages. Which brings me back to last season when Rahniese is having the discussion with Alicent about how shes a "Bird in a cage" and only wants to make a window in the walls of her prison.... Alicent no longer has ANY control. That window is now shut therefore the caged bird no longer sings. Represented by the fact she is dressing and behaving like the old caged bird she once was and now is again. Just a thought.
Wow, what a great interpretation! That makes total sense! And I agree, Alicent is going back to her old self, wearing the seven pointed star again, wearing her hair up etc. She reminded me of S1 a lot lately.
@@evatesche yeah, I see her position on the counsel as her window. And her "voice" on the counsel is her "ability to sing". Its all gone now. Just like before.

Then they make the story their own. However, they never make it better. Nine hundred and ninety-nine times out of a thousand they make it worse."
Like giving Erryk Cargyll the crown heist that belonged to Steffon Darklyn in the book. The latter’s death was far less impactful than it should have been and this episode proves it.
Not the tullies who run the riverland. It’s the Arryns in the Eerie. Also you missed an important word. “Wild” dragon. Vermithor and Silverwing aren’t wild.
Velaryon’s do have some Targaryen blood and also he shares blood with Laenor and Laenor might still be alive so he’s looking for someone similar to. And the dragon in the vale is sheepstealer
No if you guys noticed when Rhaenerya hugged the white worm, it is the white worm who initiated it by kissing Rhaenerya's neck. So Rhaenerya went in for the kiss. Rhae didn't start it especially after what the white worm said about her dad, I think she just genuinely want to give her a hug because they both needed it. But if you go back and look at that scene again. When Rhaenerya pulls away you see the white worm kissing her neck. So Rhae went in for the kiss. No one was taken advantage of ❤.
They really fumbled Daemon's storyline throughout this season I guess they might have contracted him for full 8 episodes, but it drags on way too long and could've easily been resolved in fewer episodes
That was a wild dragon. Never tamed before. It is one of three only known wild dragon. Cannibal, gret ghost, and sheepsteeler. The one that rheana talking about is sheepsteeler.
I love that one of the biggest sins of Daemon's past that isn't coming up in the visions is killing his first wife. Apparently, he feels no guilt about that. Lol
Not sure if I am on the right track but Seasmoke might have chosen Addam because he reminds him of Laenor who if I am correct is Addam's half brother. I am pretty sure Valarians can also claim dragons. Seasmoke was calling to Addam in an earlier episode on the beach. So Addam will be a dragonrider and Allan will likely be the heir to Driftmark. I like this story line.
Only Targaryen are dragon lords it was even said in s1 Velaryon cannot not Celtigars even tho they are Valyrians too ,only Targaryens can because dragons that came to Westeros are bond by blood to Targayens
That wasnt rhaenyras dark side. Every ruler must be feared or else their subjects will do as they wish, as her council has The velaryons and the targaryens have married into each other for centuries. Every living member of house velaryon has a decent amount of targaryen blood Im glad im not the only one who thought mysaria kissing rhaenyra was out of place
@@supereero9Their counsel hasn’t been shitty. Rhaenyra admitted to Ser Alfred last episode that he was right and she made a mistake. And then this episode she gets their top knight killed and expects her counsel not to say anything about it.
The white worm being trusted so thoroughly after like 2 days after being in prison is very strange unless it is to show that Rhaenyra still only makes bad decisions.
They both have Valeryon blood via Corlys but Lenore is the only one with Tagarian blood through his mother. We don't know how Adam is flying the dragon without any verifiable Targaryen blood.
@@chimeramon2765 Velaryons are known to have blood mixed with Targaryen blood though because both houses are from old Valyria and married with one another. So Corlys also has traces of Targ blood in him.
In 'the Rogue Prince,' it is mentioned that Laenor Velaryon had Targaryen blood on both sides, when discussing how suitable he would be as a husband for Rhaenyra Targaryen. This confirms Corlys as well as Princess Rhaenys both had Targaryen blood. CORLYS TARGARYEN MATH: Alyssa and Daemon Velaryon were 12.5% Targaryen. we know their mum was a Westeroi lady of House Massay, who were a First Men house, and their father Aethan was Aegon, Visenya, & Rhaenys's first cousin and the son of half-Targaryen Valaena's brother, he would be 25% Targ, making Alyssa and Daemon 12.5% Targaryen. Daemon's son is Corwyn. Corwyn is Corlys' father. So Daemon is Corlys' grandfather. That would make Corwyn 6.25%, and Corlys 3.125%. His bastard sons would be 1.563%. For context, Daenerys had 2.3921% and Aegon/Jon Snow 1.196%. So they have more Targaryen blood than Jon Snow and he could also ride dragons.
What is your source for the claims about Aethan and Aethan's line? His father was also called Daemon (not the same as Corwyn's father), but I don't recall any mention about their Targaryen heritage. It sounds like you're suggesting that Daemon (the elder, Aethan's father) was Valaena's brother, which would mean that Aethan would indeed be the first cousin of Aegon I and co., but where is the source for that? Can't recall having read anything about that, but maybe I've missed it. If that presupposition is true then you'd certainly be correct (and that's not even considering the unknown wives of both Daemons (the elder and the younger) and Corwyn, who might also have had Targaryen blood. Curious what your source is though.
I had zero issues with Mysaria and Rhaenyra's scene at the end. 👩🏽🤝👩🏻 Hopefully, Mysaria isn't taking advantage of the situation. Someone mentioned on another channel how the music sounded sinister when Rhaenyra left the room and the camera returned to Mysaria.
Bro. How can you guys be so distracted sometimes? Alyn said to Addam: “The Sea Snake would rather have High Tide taken by the sea, then call US he sons” Alyn and Addam are full brothers, and both are bastard sons of Corlys. Valyrian features are not necessarily dominant, Rhaenyra’s children are proof of that.
it seems kinda silly to choose Seasmoke to put that rider on..They know that Seasmoke probably senses that Laenor is still alive somewhere and wouldn't accept anyone else. this was a well written episode in all though in my opinion other than that. My favorite part is Aemond calling Larys a toad lol. I wonder if Larys is actually pulling a Pycelle on them.
I don't believe they know the ins and outs of how that works and if the bond stays if the rider is MIA long term like readers do. so trying to do it with the smallest, least aggressive/anti social dragon would make sense if so.
And that is why it would have been so much more powerful to the the actual claiming of the dragon. Not Team Black looking confused going: ....iT hAs A rIDer NoW....
@@JohnnyPappas It was but the Velaryons were not a dragon riding family. The dragon riding families all died during the Doom, except for the Targs, who fled to Westeros, before the doom happened.
Addam doesn't have Targaryen blood, but he is related to Laenor. Seasmoke probably smells the blood and it's one of the few cases in the books where a non-targaryen is able to bond with a dragon.
Allicent got cutt in the same spot she cutt Rhaenera it seemed like: "Exhausting wasn't it? Hiding beneath the cloak of your own righteousness. But now they see you as you are" 😂❤
I think Seasmoke chose Adam because he is Laenors half brother so he probably sensed some similarity out of him. When Queen Haelena was in her room and had the 3 crickets and said “this one stopped singing” I think it symbolized how there was 3 dragons to claim and they would sing to them while trying to claim them to calm them down and now that sea smoke bonded with Adam there are only 2 left to sing to
Oh well, Valeryons and Targaryens have been marring each other for centuries BEFORE The Conquest. Aegon and his sisters themselfs had a Velaryon mother: Valaena Velaryon. edit1: NEVER trust the spider. Specially its tears.
I think with Rhaenyra and Mysaria, it's the fact that Mysaria has faith in Rhaenyra despite their current bad circumstances that caused Rhaenyra to make her move. Mysaria seems to be genuinely grateful to Rhaenyra for treating her with respect and recognizing how much she's been through and accomplished. It was a bit weird that they made out after Mysaria opened up about her trauma but I think it was just a highly emotional moment for both of them.
First, Velaryons are of Valyrian descent themselves as well. Second, they intermarried with the Targaryens periodically. And there is a marked difference between Steffor Darklyn and Addam. Steffon certainly volunteered, but it was obvious that he was approaching the dragon in fear and trepidation. On the other hand, while Addam certainly ran from an obvious danger, you could see that he was fascinated by the development. Sure, it was a deadly situation that he had no understanding of and he tried to escape, but he was not scared of the dragon because it was a dragon.
The Velaryons have some distant Targayren. Corlys has a great-greanmother that was a Targaryen. So Addam, the new rider of Seasmoke has some quite distant Targaryen in him.
As mentioned by Jace earlier in the season, we don't actually KNOW that a rider needs "dragon blood", or how much they even need. Apparently they have a one-drop rule
@@andrewking9454 Yes. Daenerys has only 3% of Aegon the Conquerors blood yet she had no problem. The Darkyn dude may have even had more of the blood than Dany herself but Seasmoke just didn't like him and of course didn't give him a chance to try out the other dragons.
That's not true about Corlys. The only great-grandmother of his who is known is Alarra Massey. We don't know the full family tree. You may be thinking of Valaena Velaryon's mother who was a Targ, but they are not Corlys' direct ancestors. We don't know the exact relation, but it seems she was only a cousin of Corlys' great-great-grandfather, Daemon Velaryon. It's possible Corlys has Targ blood but it's not confirmed, you can look up the family trees.
“There was zero suggest that she liked anyone other than men.” Couple things Spartan: 1. There has been suggestions that she liked women. Her and Alicent always had this unsaid thing spoken between them; especially in their youth. There’s this undertone of tension that is absolutely felt. 2. Rhaenyra was very young when she said that comparison between her and Laenor. As a fellow bisexual, I know very well what it’s like to think you’re straight and then later find out that you’re not. 3. Just because someone shows their interests in the opposite gender, doesn’t automatically make them straight. Unfortunately society has said that’s the case when we need to get rid of that mindset.

You are missing the point Seasmoke had a very strong bond with Laenor and they even mention that he missed Laenor. Dragon can sense the blood of their riders and knows Addam has the same blood as Laenor, as they are both Corlys’ sons.
The Velaryon bloodline has mixed with the Targaryen bloodline for centuries as their houses were both from old Valyria.

Not very reasonable.

Alys Rivers has become one of my favorite characters, she's so oddly arrogant and mysterious. The very first time I saw her, she just walks in, glaring at everybody while they are all bending the knee to Daemon. Is Alys Rivers even her real name, who or what is she, in reality?
Imagine if she is melisandre😂
She had more screen time and lines than Helaean in whole show already
I think shes the Quaithe, it stands to reason why she'd be advising Jorah, who is after all meant to protect a Targaryan.

In S2E2 I remember how Rhaenyra circled around Mysaria, eyeing her almost like a hungry lioness, she studied Mysaria intensely, there was a strong sensual undercurrent to her curiosity for sure and it was mirrored in Mysaria's gaze as well
It was out of comfort, I believe. The necessity of feeling love.
@@bluegypsy71 I noticed a lot of people in the LGBTQ+ community always clock it early lol.

Lord Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint), nicknamed the Sea Snake after his favored ship, is the most famous of them, having traveled farther than any in Westeros.”
"Long, long ago when he was conceiving of this world, [Martin] himself had considered the idea of making Velaryons a race of Black people with silver hair that essentially came from the other side of the ocean and conquered Westeros," he says. "That's a fascinating idea and that always really stuck with me because it's such a stark image. I just thought, 'Well, why couldn't we do a version of that now?'"
Both Condal and Sapochnik felt strongly about featuring a person of color in a powerful position of nobility in the context of the story.
Loved the reaction by the way.
i think what Alys may have been right in telling Daemon "you're going to die in this place" she meant ego death as seen Jungian psychology.
I'm hoping that is the way they are going with this, but I've got a feeling they won't.
How do no reactors realise that Addam is Laenor's brother through Corlys? Lol. That's why Seasmoke wants him to be his rider, they smell similar and have the same blood.
They smell similar. Okay.
@@Madagon367 How do you think dragons know who can ride them??
@@Taewills Indeed!
The Velaryons and even the Celtigars are Valyrians and came to Westeros even before the Targs. But they were never dragon riders though. Yes there were other houses in Valyria who rode dragons but they all died during the doom.

I’m pretty sure Mysaria initiated it
Mentioning Cole in this situation doesn’t make any sense because he doesn’t have that emotional connection with Mysaria and isn’t the same person as Rhaenyra. But let’s compare this to Robb and Talisa: remember when Talisa was telling that story about how her brother drowned and then they had sex? It’s because of the vulnerability and intimacy felt with a person that you feel so connected to them in a moment like that.
its like you guys don't even pay attention to whats happening on screen. get off your phones.
@@rakdar1714 yeah that was made abundantly obvious idk how people are confused by that.
They are both Corlys’ sons, so he does have Valyrian and most likely some Targaryen blood
You can still be seen by and love a friend very deeply for who they are without it bringing forth a sensual kind of connection
I for one think it would have been nice to still build upon that being seen for who the are motive without the kiss. It would have been great to see a strong friendship between two women who could have seen each other as rivals but instead recognize the power between them can be shared. It also would have drawn a stronger parallel to Alicent - what she and Rhaenyra could have chosen
If it isn't about sex, why was it a sexual act? There are ways to show romance without that. So the sexual aspect must've been part of the story.
@@rexibhazoboa7097it wasn’t

The large dragon in the veil is a wild one known simply as "sheep stealer." I hope we get a look at him this season.
It is enough for Alicent to be constantly near Aegon, surrounded by guards, so that Aymond could not harm him
Adam andAlyn are both Corlys sons.
Guys Sea Smoke has chosen his rider.

Hopefully, Mysaria isn't taking advantage of the situation. Someone mentioned on another channel how the music sounded sinister when Rhaenyra left the room and the camera returned to Mysaria.
Bro. How can you guys be so distracted sometimes?
Alyn said to Addam: “The Sea Snake would rather have High Tide taken by the sea, then call US he sons”
Alyn and Addam are full brothers, and both are bastard sons of Corlys.
That is the problem that they created for themselves. Leanor was dead in the books, so there was no issue.
"Did he tame it?"
I think you have the power dynamics of that interaction backwards.
And that is why it would have been so much more powerful to the the actual claiming of the dragon. Not Team Black looking confused going: ....iT hAs A rIDer NoW....

Pudgey’s face as they slowly start to kiss. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Jaime kills the Mad King. So, someone makes it out of this war.
Ewan mitchell and Matt smith (Aemond and Daemon) really shined this episode.
Not all the Valyrians were Targaryen. The Valeryons (like the Sea Snake) were also dragon riders as were other families in old Valyria.
No they weren't corlys says in episode 2 of series 1 that they, unlike the targaryans, were not dragon Lord's
His children can ride dragons because rhaenys Targaryen is their mother 😂
Maybe they weren’t in the recent past but old Valyria was full of dragon riding families.
@@JohnnyPappas It was but the Velaryons were not a dragon riding family. The dragon riding families all died during the Doom, except for the Targs, who fled to Westeros, before the doom happened.
Addam is Corlys’ son as well. He is Laenor’s half brother. SeaSmoke can sense that.
Seasmoke is like _I found you Laenor!_
Addam doesn't have Targaryen blood, but he is related to Laenor. Seasmoke probably smells the blood and it's one of the few cases in the books where a non-targaryen is able to bond with a dragon.
Targs and Valyrians have mixed extensively
They do have Targ blood in them.
"I misread that" LMFAOOOO
Allicent got cutt in the same spot she cutt Rhaenera it seemed like:
"Exhausting wasn't it?
Hiding beneath the cloak of your own righteousness.
But now they see you as you are"
😂❤
I think Seasmoke chose Adam because he is Laenors half brother so he probably sensed some similarity out of him. When Queen Haelena was in her room and had the 3 crickets and said “this one stopped singing” I think it symbolized how there was 3 dragons to claim and they would sing to them while trying to claim them to calm them down and now that sea smoke bonded with Adam there are only 2 left to sing to
Little Joffrey is so cute ❤
Oh well, Valeryons and Targaryens have been marring each other for centuries BEFORE The Conquest. Aegon and his sisters themselfs had a Velaryon mother: Valaena Velaryon.
edit1: NEVER trust the spider. Specially its tears.
The Worm in this case, or did I not pick up what you were putting down?
@@NiKiMa023 No never trust the worm.
When Heleana says the cricket stopped singing, she’s saying that Alicent was stopped using her voice.
Prophecies predict the future, not the present.
"she's a mother through and through" oh pudgey
“There was zero suggest that she liked anyone other than men.” Couple things Spartan:
