They are not "new rules", these regulations have existed since the Schengen treaty of 1985. They apply to countries outside the Schengen members of the European Union. The United Kingdom decided to voluntarily leave the EU and is now an external country, like Israel, Peru or Japan. That's all.

Sooo miss Torrevieja 😢. We fell in love with it the 1st time we stayed there. So we bought a holiday home there... absolutely fantastic 1st couple of years, then...
We had some mad old women run off with our 5 year olds body board refusing to give it back. Then we had a time when my grandson got walked into and elbowed by 4 different people walking along the front, deliberately, fully grown women. This was a 5 year old😡. All because he was black.
My mum had all her money robbed out of her bag at the market, this was a 70yrd woman they stole from.
On the very last week we were there, i was walking around the supermarket with my granson, we had 2 spanish boys that kept following us. So i stopped and told them to go pass, they suddenly punched my granson in the face and ran off! The store manager saw what had happened and said there was nothing they could do as the children were under 18 and the parents weren't there🤬.( this was off San lorrenso by a school/ nursery).
The last nail in the coffin was when my husband told a young Spanish boy to stop heating stones up and throwing it at a cat, next minute we were surrounded by 15 teens, not one person would stop it.
Never went back, sold up , even took £10,000 off the price to get rid of it. Not a place i would live in anymore, it all changed when Brexit started.
You were probably one of the unlucky ones that just had bad experience,I’ve been here 9 years not heard of anything like this also member of many social media groups where people post everything that moves..nothing like this has been posted …all areas you could come across this not just Spain 🇪🇸
@paradiseworldvideos3859 it's heartbreaking because we bought it for our children to use and then keep handing down. Anywhere that you could feel safe walking back late at night with little ones, was an absolute haven.
I used to fly over every holiday, Easter, summer holidays, etc, on my own with the littleones, made some lovely friends in the walk through stalls by the funfair. The fruitshop owners on the way back from the beach used to always call to us to have a natter on the way home from the beach. Our children became great friends with the neighbours children, everyone played together in the pool.... then we started Brexit and it went horrible
That word Brexit spoiled everything 😫

Since 1st January 2021, the UK is now considered as a “third country”.
Any British citizen who wants to emigrate to Spain (or stay for longer than three months in the country) will need to apply for a visado nacionale (long-term visa).
