  • Following our sold-out Keynote with Professor Denise Ferreira da Silva on 28 May 2024, we are proud to share this remarkable program now online. The Keynote revisited the 2022 book ‘Unpayable Debt’, in the light of what Ferreira da Silva refers to as; ‘the hopeless impulse to try and figure out the deeper structures that account for the shortcomings of my generation’s attempts at rewriting the political text.’
The evening took place in the context of our current exhibition ‘My Oma’, expanding its concern with the intertwined categories of debt, inheritance and ancestry. This lecture was followed by responses and conversation with artists Ola Hassanain and Jota Mombaça, both of whose work features as part of ‘My Oma.’
The program was co-convened together with Blacker Blackness, an education initiative led by Ola Hassanain and Simone Zeefuik. We thank the audiences who joined us for this program.
Live registration and sound by Kunstinstituut Melly: line kramer and Lou Lou Sainsbury.
