great video, I purchased a set of tools from crosscut daw company in New York. Your homemade ones are Awesome. I r condirioned 3 recently putchased saws for a Pearfest. Had young men lined up waiting a turn at the twoman saws.
Nice work on making your own tools. I think bending the teeth that low might create a crack at the base of the tooth. My saw sets are all adjusted to bend the tooth about a third of the way down. That prevents snapping off the tooth.
Nice tools! be careful with how you're setting the teeth, they should be bent at the tip rather than the base. Jim Thode commented below, he has a wealth of knowledge in his photo albums.
I agree, these saws are a bit of work to maintain and carry. But its size and cutting power allow me to cut larger diameter trees and keep up with heating my shelter on cold days.
I like your home made tools. Your steel plate could be used to to straighten a bent saw but probably not a good idea to take the set out of the cutters then reset them. You would just increase the chance of breaking a tooth. Check out some of my homemade crosscut tools at: www.pbase.com/jimthode/gallery/crosscut_saw
I've learned a LOT from your photo gallery! thank you for taking the time do take all those photos. I'm currently making an angle iron saw vise bracket like yours.
Fantastic set of tools! I wish I’d seen your video before I dropped $150. Very ingenious creations!
