It's a fun place to hang out because of all the different options for things to do. There is something in the area to appeal to just about everyone. Thanks for watching and commenting! -Ari
Ha! Thanks. We own several, two of which were purchased when we visited the Stormy Kromer HQ and factory in the Upper Peninsula. There's something extra special about buying the products at the mothership. 😀
This was really informative before my trip to Silver Lake, so thank you! I camped the same place you did and had a fantastic time. You aren't lieing about it getting busy. Thursday night wasn't too bad, but Friday it was full and the spots are pretty close together. I knew it wasn't going go be dispersed camping, so it was fine and then the dunes where even more fun than I thought they were going to be! This should be a bucket list thing for any Jeeper. 👍👍 Ps: I also couldn't get any ice cream or souvenirs, so that must really be a summer-only thing. 😆
That's so great to hear! We're glad you found the video helpful. I think know-before-you-go is super important at places like Silver Lake and the dunes. Thanks for watching and commenting. Keep on trekin' -- and Jeepin'!! 😎 -Ari
There are many retailers who sell the ORV permits via DNR sale stations, or you can purchase them directly from the state and have them mailed to you. Here is a good reference page from the Michigan DNR about ORV permits: bit.ly/2TdzeK8.
I was out there last week and had a hard time finding my way around. There are "No U-Turn" & "Wrong Way" signs but no signs to help you navigate. Also, you're always paranoid that you're doing something wrong and may hit someone coming over a hill. They just stop their vehicles and hang out just over the top of the hill! I wonder how many people get hurt or even killed out there per year.
It can be super crazy and make for an anxious time when it is very busy. The free for all mentality doesn't help, so we always try to go when it's a less busy time. We also know there is an inherent risk in that activity so we just try to keep our wits about us and be as safe as we can. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I’m going there in May for 15 days.... I cant wait!!!! I’m also going to Kayak I have a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk so I might even try driving in the sand dunes! I have a spot more or less on the lake (across the road)
Yeah! It should be a great time. We thought Silver Lake might be a good spot to drop a kayak into on a warmer day than when we were there in October. 😀 Your Cherokee Trailhawk should do just fine in a lot of areas of the dunes. And your camping spot sounds nice -- sounds like it's along the row we would have been in except for the torrential downpour of rain that decided to turn our original site into a second lake. 🙄
Yeah we do, and we were aired down. And when Jessi made it up Test Hill, it was after she realized she needed to just get on it and go! LOL Thanks for watching! -Ari
Looks like a fantastic place with lots to do.
You really are pleasantly thorough with your reviews.
Thanks ~Lucy

Trekers I’m really looking forward to it. You actually drove past the site I have and it looked nice and dry
9:20 - Oh, just air down 'n' go for it. You *do* carry a tire pump, don't you?
