A few years back I got really depressed and ended up playing a lot of ARMA KOTH. I was not good at all but I loved getting dropped in by chopper pilots like this, made me smile remembering happier times with friendly folks. Thank you for sharing this

man, the control you've got is so damn satisfying. It makes me wanna spend my whole wage on a VR headset and HOTAS.
I know it’s been 2 years, but you need trackir or a facecam program that tracks your face. Trackir is typically better though, with less delay and smoother rotations

I’ve been practising flying in helps for a week or so now, just in custom games though, it’s fun practising, but I’ve learnt quite a bit form this video
Appreciate the content. Despite all these games having various transports it's really hard to find long videos of just a pilot transporting groups around.
As an actual helicopter pilot it makes me freak out to see you fly through the powerlines.

in arma only the big ones are modeled the small ones dont exist but ye sometimes its a gamble cuz on the map there is always like 1 or 2 that look like small lines but are medium sized lines and you just explode

I got lured into arma 3 by some squadron mates at Black Shark Den, do you think the advanced flight model has any redeeming qualities? To me it seems really rough model and not worth of the odd trim system, lack etl, ground effect etc.
I don’t think it’s worth it mate especially for KOTH. If you wanna do MILSIM events then it might be worth a go but for fast insertions on KOTH the SFM is better suited.

Hey thanks man! My graphics are all set on high. The joystick settings are all default brother I don’t use any curves or special settings.

Watching again to try to figure out the throttle, are you using analog or digital throttle in the controls? i set my map to the top blue button😎 sorry for bugging you
Also i couldn't map buttons untill. I went to devices and printers and disabled clutch under game controller settings then ran Joytokey as administrator in windows XP compatibility mode,
I use the digital input mate, make sure collective is only bound to Collective Up and Down not Collective Analogue

do you have any tips on how I can fly helicopters better in arma? specifically the MH-6M and the AH-6M. I have my own Throttle and stick but I always just am not that amazing of a pilot, I still am decent and can get from point A to point B but is there any like cool tips you have?

One question, when performing the landing, at what points do you lower / raise collective? I’ve seen people suggest lowering all the way when performing a turn like that, what do you do?
I don’t really have a set routine for it, it all
depends on the Lz and how fast I’m approaching it.
If you watch more of my arms videos you can keep an eye on the Hotas camera and easily work out what I’m doing my friend.

@@104thMaverick well most of the tutorials I’ve found just say to lower collective then do a sharp turn, but that often ends up with me either hitting the ground to hard to drifting off to one side when I’ve finished the turn.
But I’ll definitely watch more of your gameplay, I just noticed the joystick you use for collective and even though having to use W and s is very different to the hotas I could still pick up some things

🤣 It’s called King of the Hill mate. Basically both teams are trying to compete for control over a zone on the map. I am the transport helicopter pilot so my job is to fly our troops from the base we spawn at into the objective area we are trying to control so they can eliminate the enemy.

If you use HOTAS, why dont you use the Advanced flight model?
I never really liked it for KOTH, for Milsim it was ok but ARMA was just arcade fun for me. It was less about the FM and more about the challenge of landing people under fire that I enjoyed
Do you have a head track profile I could have? Yours looks so clean
I use TrackIR with the default profile called Smooth
I have to use the joy stick to steer and keyboard to accelerate and deaccelerate amazing video dude keep it up

No, just make sure you don’t have your collective bound to the option that has (analogue) after it for collective

Thanks brother, its called the RHS mod. You can type RHS into the ARMA launcher and it will auto download the mod for you so you can join the server.

It's sad that the golden age of pilots in arma is long over.
Most of the pilots in ARMA are terrible, in the 4 years I ve been playing it, I've seen a handful of great pilots.
104th_Maverick I think it’s just most units don’t wanna utilise the air assets well.
Unfortunately I haven't had time to game for awhile but I always chose to fly transport and rescue.

yes mate, it sucks right now cause there is no full support for HOTAS. So Im patiently waiting for them to implement that so I can get involved!

It’s the default zoomed out fov my friend. All I do is double tap the minus key ( - ) on the Numpad and fly like that

Jesus with that FM it's just an arcade game. Even so when flying low you don't pitch with the cyclic to avoid terrain/obstacles but maintain the same attitude in pitch while raising and lowering collective, makes for a much smoother, faster and more controlled flight.
Dave don’t be that angry amateur who try’s to teach me how to fly.
This FM is arcade mode which is why I fly it that way, if you were smart you would have noticed that the collective is already at 100% dumbass, how am I supposed to increase it any more?
Don't get yourself twisted sweetheart, I know that you think you can, but there is no way you can fly that helicopter better than I can, just go ahead and try it and see how you get on and keep in mind I have 35,000 tactical insertions in that aircraft. I seriously doubt you would even make it to 100.
I fly helicopters in other sims realistically, Dave, I don't need any lessons or advice from you.
I fly in arma for fun, not to try and tick boxes for nerds 😉
@@104thMaverick Amateur? I'm C-CAT helicopters, CPL-H also hold ATPL tickets.
I might be impressed if I hadn't already trained with other real helicopter pilots, if you had bothered to look around my channel before trying to lecture me you would have seen 100+ live streams of me flying AW-139s, Bell 222, SA-342s and UH-1H's in high fidelity simulators online with live Air Traffic Control.
My advice, stick to commenting on flight simulator videos sir, ARMA is just an arcade game and as such I treat it that way.
That being said I'm sorry for the way I answered you, I get a lot of neck beard nerds trying to give me advice on how to fly when most of them have no idea what they are talking about and the fact you told me to increase the collective when I already fly with it at 100% was a bit of a red flag for me.
As I said, I train with real world helicopter pilots, I also raise money for Air Ambulance Charities and spend a lot of time flying realistic Flight Models in an Air Ambulance role online, I'm well aware of how to fly helicopters properly sir, I just fly ARMA in an arcade style for fun.

@@104thMaverick Yeah there is nothing realistic about any desktop sim.. It's not until you try a Level-D sim for helicopters you get any real feedback of what flying a helicopter is like. If you've never tried the controls for yourself go for an intro flight at a local school, you'll immediately see what a large void there is between sim and reality. Desktop sims are good for practicing basic procedures and some ATC if over Vatsim but that's about it.
Again Dave you're not telling me anything I don't already know, I train with real helicopters pilots mate, I'm not some naive newcomer to the flight sim scene.

Go to the FILTERS tab and select KOTH from the Game Type option and then just type RHS in the search field

Arma flying its realistic only with Advanced Flying Model
The realistic flight model in arma is almost as bad as the people who think it’s realistic mate. I fly KOTH for the fun of interacting with the passengers, there is nothing realistic about any FM in arma.
