Applejack: "How are we going to catch Flutterbat?" -Rainbow has supersonic speed -Rarity has magic -Applejack is good with lasso -Twiligth is a god -Pinkie pie is pinkie pie
They did not mentioned the implied "...without harming her". All of them knew things WILL get messy if they could not think of a harmless solution... Applejack was clear about it, all of Sweet Apple Acres is not as valuable as having her friend Fluttershy back... (cries on the inside) [... and this is the most touchy feeling thing they have done with the pair on 6 seasons].
hmmm, not really, Rainbow dash can easily grab flutterbat without harming her or tying her with a rope, which Applejack can do to and lassoing isnt harmful, Rarity's magic is mostly used for telekinesis (we never see her doing anything but move objects, she got to be quite the expert at that) so she coul stop flutterbat mid-air, and Pinkie pie? yea, whatever she does isn't harmful. Same for Twilight, she could come up with a good spell for this.
One thing about this episode that doesn’t make sense is how the trees wilt due to the bats. The bats only eat the apples; how does that cause the trees to die?
2:53 Why is that a sin??? Instead of adding a sin, you should’ve taken one of! Andrea Libman doing the voices of two characters that are talking to themselves is actually AMAZING! That’s what I call talent!
The edgy bat pony OCs have been coming out since at least "Luna Eclipsed." This just made it easier to ship Fluttershy with them. That said, plenty of legit sins in this one, especially the implied magical starvation. Thanks as always.
You forgot the most important sin. This episode literally is a twenty minute copy of "Wallace And Gromit: The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit". -The home of the heroes is being invaded by hungry pests. (rabbits/vampire fruitbats) -The heroes try to alter the pest's nature to stop them from eating whatever they eat. (Wallace's brainwashing machine/ Twilight's spell) -The experiment seems successful at first, but somehow the overnight raids continue. (Townspeople's vegetables/Applejack's orchard) -It is revealed that instead of dissappearing altogether, the pest's behavior somehow infused itself into the one component that helped alter them in the first place. (Wallace/Fluttershy) -Their friend decides to sacrifice their treasured growth meant for a competition to help turn back their friend. (Gromit's giant Zucchini/Applejack's giant apple) SHAMELESS.
MrWhatdafuBOOM I literally realised that just ten minutes ago, prompting me to come back to this video to comment about it... ...Only to find that you beat me to it. Still, good to know I'm not the only one to make the comparison. Shows that someone ELSE out there has a few lights on upstairs! (:
Fluttershy’s argument that the seeds the bats spit out will grow into new, strong apple trees doesn’t really hold up when you consider that they won’t be productive for like 20 years and without THIS year’s crop, AJ and her folks are basically boned.
This one of my favorite episodes and the fact they never come back to the fact Fluttershy is still half bat is a crime especially because they do remember it considering it was re-used at least two times in the form of irrelevant (dream and costume)
@@cjgarcia8222 'Stake,' not 'steak,' right? Although, since she's been in EQGverse it wouldn't surprise me if she's had a hamburger rather than her usual hayburger. Which raises... issues.
I like that you also noticed the fact that the mane 6's idea to get rid of the fruit bats was to make them stop eating until they eventually die out. I thought I was the only one who noticed that that was really sick of them.
Always loved that part "so yeah, Twi so powerful now she can redo the parasprite spell, only this time it works, only this time not only does she doom a species to die of starvation, but it also transforms a pony into a different being"
That's my main problem with this episode too! AJ was "in the wrong", but she had legit reasons to not want the bats around (... as few as there seemed to be). XD
Esmeia Actually Aj was entirely right, the bats needed to go, the only thing 'wrong' she did was peer pressuring Fluttershy into doing something she wasn't comfortable with. Her goal was perfectly right, it was just her methods that needed work.
After watching some Mr. Enter's reviews of the show, I decided to give it a shot by watching this episode and Hurricane Fluttershy about a year ago during the hiatus b/w seasons 4 and 5, and I've been a fan ever since.
Great :) Currently I'm sick but seeing that you responded to me made my day. It's okay that you're busy with other things right now, I don't really mind :)
Reminder that Flutterbat is a vampire, and had been referred to as such multiple times in the episode, but however the mirror plan worked despite vampires having no reflection.
Well it actually is important for the apple orchard to have many apple seeds Because as shown in the episode "pinkie apple pie" or whatever it was called, it's shown that earth ponies can grow a whole tree from a seed within a second.
The biggest sin from this episode is that, instead of teaching kids that even creatures we view as bothersome or harmful pests play an important role in their ecosystem, Hasbro instead decided to make Fluttershy a vampire. Because teaching kids valuable lessons is hard.
Small correction, It IS mentioned in the comics, the apples go crazy and grow mouths and can talk and try to enslave the ponys, so they make the mane six become bat ponys, Something about how fluttershy still has her bat powers in her and twilight uses the spell to awake it in her, and then they use it to rransform them all in to bat ponys
The most funny thing about episodes like these to me is that we never hear about the main focus before the main focus is introduced. Sirens, anthropomorphic singing cats, hippogriffs, the apple bats, fish people, pig people, yaks, Changelings, The Storm King, Shining Armor, Princess Cadence, Sunset Shimmer, the magical mirror that leads to an alternative reality where the writing sucks and everyone is a -piece of merchandise- human with oddly colored skin.. It's just a: "HEY LOOK WE HAVE A NEW THING ACCEPT OUR THING T A K E OU R TH I N G" to the face. [Aside Breezies, I guess??]
Fun facts: Apple seeds need hydrochloric acid to sprout. They have to be eaten by something else, or left in the apple which has just enough, in order to get out of the seed pod. Spitting the seeds out will effectively ensure no future crops. Also, orchards are grown in rows or grids in order to give the trees optimal space to grow, so even if a few seeds did manage to sprout, they probably wouldn't be in the right places. And, lastly, I can think of no tree that benefits from having its leaves torn apart, let alone clean off! These bats are purely vermin and Apple Jack is right to want them gone. (At least if these apples grown the same way they do in the real world. Equestria has magic after all.)
I always was irked that she didn't explain how it'd help the seeds. Maybe there's some type of enzyme in the bats' saliva that coats the seeds when spit out?
:has a certain pest taking over :an experiment going wrong :giant produce being used to bait the creature :one of the main characters becomes the pest And thus, bats is basically curse of the wererabbit but with ponies
