Such a strange story. He was on dating sites, had explicit photos on his phone, met up with women… and his partner was ok with it all? Also, if he was in the early stages of alzheimers, how is he still a practising psychiatrist? I have so many questions…

Yeah, I was wondering why no one really mentioned this stuff in the comments. And he only helped women? Single ones primarily? I’m not saying he was a bad person or deserved any of this in the slightest, but no one is even addressing the weirdness of all of that.

Thank you for respecting Dr. Burchard. He became my doctor 28 years ago. He often bought my medication that I couldn't afford, if I couldn't afford my session he would have me come after hours and not charge me. As I became an adult I maintained my relationship with Dr B. He was a father figure to me, he was my hero. I will never get over losing him like this. I wouldn't have made it this far in life without him, Id probably be dead. Dr. Burchard was my psychiatrist when I attended the Clint Eastwood Youth Program ( its part of Community Hospital Of the Monterey Peninsula ) in Monterey CA. I was a teen 15 years old when I first met him. I was struggling with drug addiction and mental health issues..I saw him once a week. Every time I left his office/room I was happy. I felt the care he gave to me and all his patients. He really helped with my mental health. He listened and actually did everything he could to help. After every appointment he would do a magic trick. He then would show me how the trick was done and give me the materials or whatever he used to do the trick . So I can do the magic trick myself and make others have a nice moment like he did with me. He wasn't just my Dr. He was my friend..REST IN PEACE DR.BURCHARD. We miss you

I don't think the media made him out to be a sugar daddy. That's a conclusion most of hearing the story came to. It's very unusual for a man to give a young, buxom blond money just to help her out. Usually a man will give such a woman money for sexual favors. I'm not saying this guy was one of those people, but it's only natural people would come to this conclusion.

Her comments and behaviors were learned actions Leigh. She's a sociopathic narcissist, and her lies that trapped him and his kindness prove as much. Sad to say, but todays generation has become so vain and self centered, they care only about one thing...t
millennials & the generation that followed, are the worst, when it comes to, what I call, the "Me Me, or the Me First" generations in todays society.
Of course not everyone within these two generations are like that, but statistically, they have proven to be the worse when it comes to self entitlement behaviors, including metal health issues like anti-social & narcissist behaviors, which also include traits of violence. One of the worse changes within these demographics has to do with an extreme increase in violence in young women between the ages of 13 & 28yrs. You'd be surprised how many teenaged murderers there are today, that are young girls, who come mostly from middle to upper class families.
It's very scary, sad, but true of what I say. These behaviors and traits are often mentioned and can be easily found within medical journals and reports of today. The rise in society's violence, and acceptance of violence is greatly influencing our younger generations today, and it's possible, it will get worse before it gets any better. I certainly hope not though!!
But, as always, that's just my opinion! :(((

I bet he had some boundary issue that he was afraid to come out. Why her? If he wanted to be that generous, there were a lot of women's shelters he could have helped. This is not victim shaming. What this actually sounds like: This man was an experienced sugar daddy. Why else would he keep/receive such photos of the women he was helping get by? His magic tricks and antics about helping them were probably a way to explain to his wife why sooo much money slips out of their accounts. He was picking up disadvantaged women at his practice, women he knew for a fact were struggling financially. Que Kelsey. Sounds like Kelsey was a favorite so he started shelling out more than usual and his wife found out so he made it seem like he didn’t know what was going on and she was the problem. He funded her life and knew it. He didn’t go to see if she was sick, he went out there for a “visit”. If it were about the kids he would’ve stopped when she lost one (funny how he didn’t investigate that in person) and it’s pretty ironic her other kid wasn’t even home when he went out there. Kelsey probably didn’t care her mom was on his roster, she just needed his money and stuff went left. Still a shame what happened, though

He was in his forties at the time and kindly gave me a job, paid for my rent and all types of shopping that he came along with me to do just to have company and he refused to let me ever get the bill. We went to sports games, concerts you name it and We never even kissed! It just wasn't like that. He had alot of money and his own business that he spent most of his life getting off the ground so he didn't have much social time when younger and was still a work-a-holic. He didn't drink or smoke or anything. Completely straight edge. Unfortunately, alot of women took advantage of his kindness and I feel that during that time I really was his only true friend and tried to get him to cut off the other people (It was not just women he was supporting) but he just had a heart of gold and couldn't. We ended up falling apart when I moved away but even now he's a great man. I moved back years later with my husband and kids and he immediately offered my husband a job and was great to my husband as well. He is the only person I have ever met that was this generous that really only wanted friendship in return and had good morals. No funny business. I have never come across another person like him and I doubt I ever will. So it does happen, however it is rare. To be honest, I would think my friend was also a sugar daddy looking for sex in return had I not spent years with him and him alone daily. Trust me, he wasn't looking for that from me or anyone else. Just a kind gentleman that believed in sharing what he had with those he cared about.

Why would she message him back? I’m sure a former playboy model has hundreds of messages left on read in her inbox. Perhaps they both were seeking something mutually beneficial and then she started to blackmail him for more like this story says. It could be both. Could’ve started with him paying for pics or attention or whatever and turned into something very bad for him.

If he hadn't contacted and 'befriended' her in the first place, or at least ceased contact early on when he, a psychiatrist!, honed in on her overt personality disorders and outrageous demands rather than being WILLINGLY USED, he would still be alive. He was complicit in his own demise.

In 2019, Turner and her ex-boyfriend were accused of killing a Salinas psychiatrist, Dr. Thomas Burchard. She was arrested by FBI agents and Las Vegas police in Stockton, California, on March 21, 2019, and underwent a criminal trial for three years. She eventually pled guilty and was sentenced to 10 to 25 years in prison in January 2023.
