Such a strange story. He was on dating sites, had explicit photos on his phone, met up with women… and his partner was ok with it all? Also, if he was in the early stages of alzheimers, how is he still a practising psychiatrist? I have so many questions…
Yeah, I was wondering why no one really mentioned this stuff in the comments. And he only helped women? Single ones primarily? I’m not saying he was a bad person or deserved any of this in the slightest, but no one is even addressing the weirdness of all of that.
It's called an "Open relationship" you FN weirdos. LoL. She and the other 2 are the evil ppl here, not the victim. Geezus!

I wasn’t laying blame on anyone. Nor was I saying he deserved what happened. There was no mention of an open relationship. If you know so much, tell me how he could still be practising psychiatry with alzheimers? I just said I have questions. That’s it and that’s all.
@@keatonmask1918 right. I definitely don’t want to take away from the fact that hes the victim here, and no matter what - he did not deserve what happened to him. I simply don’t understand the whole story and, naturally have questions.

He was a father figure to me, he was my hero. I will never get over losing him like this. I wouldn't have made it this far in life without him, Id probably be dead. He was the best doctor anyone could ask for, and even a better person. RIP Dr. Burchard I miss and love you, thank you for saving my life!❤

Dr. Burchard was my psychiatrist when I attended the Clint Eastwood Youth Program ( its part of Community Hospital Of the Monterey Peninsula ) in Monterey CA. I was a teen 15 years old when I first met him. I was struggling with drug addiction and mental health issues..I saw him once a week. Every time I left his office/room I was happy. I felt the care he gave to me and all his patients. He really helped with my mental health. He listened and actually did everything he could to help. After every appointment he would do a magic trick. He then would show me how the trick was done and give me the materials or whatever he used to do the trick . So I can do the magic trick myself and make others have a nice moment like he did with me. He wasn't just my Dr. He was my friend..REST IN PEACE DR.BURCHARD. We miss you

I don't think the media made him out to be a sugar daddy. That's a conclusion most of hearing the story came to. It's very unusual for a man to give a young, buxom blond money just to help her out. Usually a man will give such a woman money for sexual favors. I'm not saying this guy was one of those people, but it's only natural people would come to this conclusion.

This story makes me so angry. It's very upsetting how these type of people are out there walking around.
The fact that he booked his fight from March 1st to the 4th is a sign that he was getting something out of all this. He didn't just go there to end things with her on a 4 day long conversation.
Oh definitely...the video portrays him as a righteous old man but it's easy to see he was a pervert and was getting something out of it.
Him getting in the car with the roommate obviously shows he was still trying to get active
Yeah. There's a lot of fluff and downplaying the nature of the victim. I kinda understand because it's the victim, but it gets everyone nowhere when trying to understand what happened here.
It's horrible how they talk about his health and memory like he was losing it somehow. But he still had his practice, and practiced at his practice, but had Alzheimer's? I think someone, maybe family or close friends, didn't want it to look as bad on Thomas for his conscious decisions.
I think you're right on the money here. (Pun not intended)
Do we know he was still practicing?
I was wondering if his memory etc was so bad, and early signs of dementia, why would his wife let him go off for days like that? My granddad had dementia and my gran wouldn't let him off to the shop on his own a 20-30 minute walk away?
Facts
His loved ones don't want to admit that he enjoyed getting attention from these much younger women. He knew normally they wouldn't pay attention to a man his age but he knew money would talk. Why are the majority of comments acting like he was completely innocent and just wanted to "help"? He wanted something though, that for sure.

millennials & the generation that followed, are the worst, when it comes to, what I call, the "Me Me, or the Me First" generations in todays society.
Of course not everyone within these two generations are like that, but statistically, they have proven to be the worse when it comes to self entitlement behaviors, including metal health issues like anti-social & narcissist behaviors, which also include traits of violence. One of the worse changes within these demographics has to do with an extreme increase in violence in young women between the ages of 13 & 28yrs. You'd be surprised how many teenaged murderers there are today, that are young girls, who come mostly from middle to upper class families.
It's very scary, sad, but true of what I say. These behaviors and traits are often mentioned and can be easily found within medical journals and reports of today. The rise in society's violence, and acceptance of violence is greatly influencing our younger generations today, and it's possible, it will get worse before it gets any better. I certainly hope not though!!
But, as always, that's just my opinion! :(((

Exactly.
Is sickening how so many greedy, and often societally useless individuals, feel entitled to the hard-earned money of others - particularly those who have very generous hearts. Sometimes we help the wrong people because we have a soft heart for their sad stories even when we are unable to prove their situation.
I'll say it, it's really fucking sus that this guy is just a "harmless nice old man"... I don't believe it.
Exactly!! They are making him seem like a saint and anyone who pays for sex isnt that.
And the fact that he needed to cut her off in person and his wife couldn't go with him to do it... uhhh
Same.
I get that 99.9% of people today are legitimate, coddled, self-entitled, ignorant and obnoxious trash but there's still a few that aren't. He didn't have sex with any of the women he helped nor did he ever expect anything in return except a willingness from them to try and better their lives.
He was either incredibly naive or just a plain, old fashioned wishful thinker to expect anyone he helped was even remotely interested in supporting themselves at any point.
I'm not saying he was a Saint, I didn't know him, but the fact that you're immediately calling HIM out as sus for being murdered because he wanted to stop paying for someone else's lifestyle says a lot about you and where you fall on the spectrum of being either a good person or trash. Just sayin'.
I mean if there's evidence of him doing that, fine but if not that's just jumping to conclusions and that only makes things worse. I get that many guys in his type of position are usually paying for something in return but there are some well off men out there that just enjoy helping others.
So sad. People like her disgust me.

Way to make him sound innocent in his own demise. The only way those pictures got saved on his phone is if he wanted them. Which means he asked for them.
It’s wild how people have been blessed with looks that opens every door and if they were just smart and a decent person they could do so much good but they don’t. It really makes me think it’s designed that way so the best people don’t get opportunity but the worst always make the world worse.

I'm going to come from a different angle just because. Yes, the Dr was a victim in this case and was cruelly killed but WHY would anyone give a stranger that much money for that long??? You can't save everyone on the planet. How is it he had dementia but he could board flights and travel by himself? Just because someone is highly thought of so highly thought of by peers and clients does not mean ppl can't live double lives or cover up certain details of what they're doing. Why did he have explicit photos of Kelsey mom on his phone? I just think there very well could be more to this story. I guess I'm more interested in the doctor's psychology then the gold diggers.
I understand your point of view. I work in a hospital. The majority of patients with dementia, Alzheimers, or any form of mental impair is normally declared unfit and a trusted person makes decisions for them. I realize his reputation seemed extremely important to him but you'd think someone would care enough to intervene.

As healthcare providers, we should not be giving our patients money. It’s inappropriate and crosses too many lines.
If you have patients with financial concerns, direct them to financial assistance in your area. Definitely advocate for your patients and help them within your scope, but do not give them money.

Obviously this was the case with the Doctor.
She managed to con the courts too. She entered an Alford plea (where they don't admit guilt, but do admit there is enough evidence to convict them), and has to serve a minimum of 10 years. If there is any justice in this world, she'll be held until her only (sort of) asset is valueless.

@@aimeekova dude. imagine this - you're a psychologist and trying to help out women in need. you've been working with one for a while, helping her with money (the entire first half of this video talks about how he used to do magic tricks for young boys turning 1$ bills into 100$ bills and giving it them, he gave out A LOT OF MONEY not just to women). now imagine you're working with a woman, and one day she sends you a nude photo. you don't reciprocate, and you keep trying to help her because clearly this is not normal. maybe you even try to end the sessions then and there with her - she then says that she's going to blackmail you, saying you're having a relationship with her/other patients. she has her mom send nude photos to you as well. they tell you they will leave you alone if you send 300k. i mean honestly, how is that this hard for you to put together? he was manipulated. the 300k was likely blackmail money, and after that was sent he likely was not interested in sending any more so they killed him. the only piece of evidence pointing to any relationship with any of them is a picture from THIS WOMAN'S MOTHER. who was also his patient, and was also a terrible person. he didn't send photos to anyone. they sent him pictures. that doesn't mean ANYTHING TO ME. if a guy sends you unsolicited dick pics, does that mean you're in a relationship with him? absolutely not.
@Anthony
Kind of agree! Also people have to remember, he has DEMENTIA. He couldn't make cognizant decisions, only what the remnants of his brain allowed him to remember: that he felt fulfillment in helping people. Personally, I think she definitely did manipulate him.
a psychologist who got duped like this tells a lot about psychology, and she only got 10 years in jail?!
I wish he got a lawyer to pay her off in agreement that she could not report any abuse allegations.
I get that no one wants to be accused of being a child predator, but I'm struck by how weird it is to me that a 71 year old man with deteriorating memory problems was concerned about the possibility of the end of his career. Retirement had to have been on his mind by this point, no?
I wonder why the threat of these allegations was such a strong motivator for him to keep funding her?
I completely agree, i wonder if everything he did was to gain access to children (being a magician, a pediatric doctor, buying contact with disturbed mothers of young children).
Because he has something to hide. Thats why.
Even having communication and probably getting nudes from with the parents of children is definitely breach of duty of care. Even though he’s at the end of his career he still wouldn’t want his legacy to be one of a pedo.
He obviously liked women a whole lot and enjoyed giving them money. Nothing wrong with that but if he’s meeting them at work that’s kind of taking advantage of vulnerable women.
Was he giving money to any strapped single dads out there? I’m just saying I agree that he was retiring but he still had a reputation to withhold as he knew even sending all these mothers money was wrong because let’s face it, if he wasn’t getting something out of it he wouldn’t have been doing it. Hence the term sugar daddy. They don’t just hand over cash coz they’re nice men 😂
it’s not abnormal for someone who built up a good reputation in their field to not want it ruined, whether they’re retiring soon or not. these allegations could also go beyond just a job. criminal charges could apply. I don’t think it seems suspicious that he cared about his own well-being.

What this actually sounds like: This man was an experienced sugar daddy. Why else would he keep/receive such photos of the women he was helping get by? His magic tricks and antics about helping them were probably a way to explain to his wife why sooo much money slips out of their accounts. He was picking up disadvantaged women at his practice, women he knew for a fact were struggling financially. Que Kelsey. Sounds like Kelsey was a favorite so he started shelling out more than usual and his wife found out so he made it seem like he didn’t know what was going on and she was the problem. He funded her life and knew it. He didn’t go to see if she was sick, he went out there for a “visit”. If it were about the kids he would’ve stopped when she lost one (funny how he didn’t investigate that in person) and it’s pretty ironic her other kid wasn’t even home when he went out there. Kelsey probably didn’t care her mom was on his roster, she just needed his money and stuff went left. Still a shame what happened, though
the woman he's photographed with, is always wearing roses - ode to rosacrucians. he's taking photos in what looks like some occult society - they're not all that secret anymore, but the fact that he was into magic, and psychiatry sometimes showing up w/ mind control, kitten programming and his focus on children and single mothers....well, it's the truth of the actual world we live in. they might have been victims of mind control and abuse but being paid to remain quiet.

A message to the producers of the video content on this channel. I suggest you keep your own personal beliefs on what people's intentions were out of the content of your videos. The way you choose to frame the Dr. as a helpless old man who was only making financial errors due to health reasons and only had a pure heart only makes me feel like entire storylines may be completely inaccurate due to bias contamination. You have a good person doing the voice which is one of the key elements to being a great crime documentary in my opinion! The other element is of course the content. Keep up the good work, I only wanted to offer my criticism as a constructive way to help. Some may say that I was always one to help up and coming crime show RUclips channel dudes because of my good heart. People often remark how I took up video editing as a "hobby" so that I could further assist young content providers with costly editing fees. It's sad that when I flew to Romania to do some free video editing for a new young girl who was just starting her crime vlog channel up that I was stuffed into a meat grinder and made into Romanian style sausages! Exactly, the wife knew too, she knew that was his vice and she's old and wise enough to know to allow him to live the way he chooses until he thinks he's had enough.
I actually have met ONE man like this. He was actually a sexual (IMO) and just wanted friends. Everyone he befriended he ended up supporting including me when I was in my early 20s. He was in his forties at the time and kindly gave me a job, paid for my rent and all types of shopping that he came along with me to do just to have company and he refused to let me ever get the bill. We went to sports games, concerts you name it and We never even kissed! It just wasn't like that. He had alot of money and his own business that he spent most of his life getting off the ground so he didn't have much social time when younger and was still a work-a-holic. He didn't drink or smoke or anything. Completely straight edge. Unfortunately, alot of women took advantage of his kindness and I feel that during that time I really was his only true friend and tried to get him to cut off the other people (It was not just women he was supporting) but he just had a heart of gold and couldn't. We ended up falling apart when I moved away but even now he's a great man. I moved back years later with my husband and kids and he immediately offered my husband a job and was great to my husband as well. He is the only person I have ever met that was this generous that really only wanted friendship in return and had good morals. No funny business. I have never come across another person like him and I doubt I ever will. So it does happen, however it is rare. To be honest, I would think my friend was also a sugar daddy looking for sex in return had I not spent years with him and him alone daily. Trust me, he wasn't looking for that from me or anyone else. Just a kind gentleman that believed in sharing what he had with those he cared about.
