I am very eager to see the Greek ruins on Sicily; the interviews in different languages "Can an Italian Understand..." with people face to face is a wonderful idea. It sounds like the anxiety provoking necessity of traveling to Italy has opened up opportunities for your channels and I can hardly wait for just about any of the ideas that you have mentioned. Your family continues in my prayers. Take me on as much of a tour of Europe as you can manage! (I am studying Brazilian Portuguese so a trip to Portugal will be interesting as contrast in the linguistical sense.)
Thanks for keeping us updated! I hope everything that's going on gets sorted out the best that it can be. I always appreciate your content, keep up that terrific work and best wishes to you and your family!
It would be great to make more Italian videos! Sicilian and Neapolitan would be magnificent also! You can also record your wife's italian learning curve! Grazie mille e forza Raff!
Oh gosh, your videos are so interesting. I hope that your family member is doing well. I am learning Spanish, so I would love to see you anywhere in Spain. But my great grandmother's maiden name was Chefalu, so I do feel a family tie to Sicily! I would love to see you visit Chefalu. Thank you.
Portuguese here, an italian friend of mine (from the Puglia) found the "northern" portuguese accent - specifically from Porto - much easier to understand and learn than the standard Lisbon one. Porto is also a beautiful city, if you have the opportunity I would advice a trip there. It has an amazing artistic heritage and beautiful architecture.
Prayers and well wishes that your personal issue, whatever it may be, works out for the absolute best. What you are describing as the potential video topics sounds very interesting and I look forward to it. Thanks for all of the great content that you do and the insights that you give to your viewers.
I believe you are very much in the best position to focus on Magna Graecia and Grecanica. Your linguistic background and enthusiasm for history will be a perfect match. Also, you seem able to avoid any weird areas that involve nationalism or irredentism. I'm obviously fascinated because as Greeks we are taught nothing about it (for the obvious fear of causing a problem in the future).
This channel makes me happy! I noticed you mentioned in a video similarities between Sicilian words and Latin ones and growing up with Sicilian, I've noticed them myself. Especially studying horticulture, where Latin derived words show up a lot. Hearing someone else's perspective and observations would be so absolutely fascinating. If you ever wanted a random idea or suggestion. Thank you for your content, I don't keep up to date with RUclips channels but will always be ready to listen to your content because of your skills at making something so interesting seem so easily.
From what I could tell when I was there, Maltese seems to be a bit of a mix of Arabic and Italian with some English influences, but I am not a linguist.
@@ronshlomi582 I know I saw the video, but it's different when you're actually talking to locals who can maybe understand a little Sicilian or Italian.
+1 for more videos on Italian. That's why I subscribed to your original channel back before this one started. Good topics would be how your wife is getting on with Italian, more on Italy's dialects/sister languages, and since you're going to France, maybe something on France's dialects too.
Thanks for the heads up, I'm totally looking forward to your upcoming travel videos. I'm interested in going to Milan even though I haven't learned Italian, but I'd love to hear your travel tips for anywhere in Italy.
If you happen by Corleone, Mezzojuso, or Marineo in Sicily, I'd love to know more about their Sicilian dialect, and also for Mezzojuso and that area, about the Albëreshë villages!
It’s been a few years since I’ve visited Portugal, and I didn’t know much Portuguese back then. It would be cool to see you go there. I’m primarily learning Brazilian Portuguese, but I have some friends from Portugal that I’ve practiced with a little.
Would be cool to see some places you have talked about.I know Europeans ,and even Eastern Americans, are sometimes overwhelmed by the size of places west of the Mississippi. The Northeast down to Georgia was the original Colonial America, anything south and west of those were added later and are often as big as small countries themselves if you didn't know that.Hope your family situation gets better.
I'd love to see any of the Greek content like the architecture on the main channel, or if you're posting on the language channel, differences in modern Greek as it has changed over the centuries.
Great, Metatron! I propose : a talk on Tuscany 's gorgia; a discussion on the common disregard of the phonematic alternations between close and open /e/ (as in una vecchia lègge una vecchia légge; pèsca vs pésca) and between close and open /o/ (bòtte vs bótte). In the north people pronounce ' stélla' as 'stèlla' , which sounds like 'stalla' to me.
Thanks for the update. I don't mind if you haven't posted in a while, as you are probably very busy with a lots of things, like your other channels, your research, your private life, etc. No worries about that. I hope and pray that the matter with your family will be resolved as quickly and as best as possible. I'm intrigued by your video possibilities. Have a good trip in those different countries. I hope you visit Switzerland and some of the Swiss cantons, maybe visiting the different cantons by the various languages, one for German, one for French, one for Italian, and one for Romansch. Portugal and Greece would be interesting, although I am not currently studying the languages of those countries at the moment, as I am more focused on Japanese, with a little bit of Italian and German. Seing some parts of Italie would also be nice to see. Have a good day, Metatron, and everybody. I wish the best for you all.
This sounds very exciting! I can't wait to watch your travel videos! May I suggest you visit Moldova, one of the least visited countries in the world and interact with the Romanian speakers there? Like the capital city of Chisinau or any other town or area in Moldova. Another reason I suggest Moldova, is because in your Romanian-Italian comparison video you used videos made by Romanians from Romania and it would be interesting to see what you think of Moldovan Romanian, as the accent is different and they sometimes use different words than in Romania. But I think going to Romania might of course also be a very interesting option! If you do go to Romania, there are so many beautiful places you may visit, most foreign tourists go to either the capital or/and to Transylvanian towns and the Carpathian mountains. If you decide to go to Romania, then may I suggest including a visit to the Romanian city of Iasi and the Moldavia region? The accent in the Moldavia region is very similar to the accent used in The Republic of Moldova and it is close to the border with The Republic of Moldova (Moldavia and Moldova used to be the same country before Romania was created, which then at the beginning, prior to Soviet occupation, Romanian territory also included the current territory of Moldova, hence why the accent is more or less the same in the Moldavia region in Romania, but words can differ though). Iasi is also a beautiful city and I would say the people are very warm and hospitable in this region as well (as in all of Romania of course 🙂)
All sounds interesting I actually feel excited for once. Only once ( yet) have I visited Sicily . Really, any content would be appreciated ( family matters first) - it's all good.Cheers.
Food I definetly want to see😁. And if you have the chance to see and show us, some well preserved classical period buildings or ruins I would be gratefull.😁
I hope everything goes as best as possible, Metatron. Cheers Regarding content, if possible I'd love to see some Sardinian content! Historical... Yeah, go with food. Traditional meals, how is it made, maybe if they're eaten on a certain date. Keep up the good work and best of wishes to you!
Are you familiar with the channel " You, Me & Sicily " ? They live in Catania. If you and your wife ever visit Catania, perhaps you folks could do a collaboration video together ? ... Nonostante whatever you decide ... Safe travels to you and to your Loved ones - 🌈 !
It has been almost 5 months since I left Portugal. I miss speaking Portuguese with my best friend Rolando. I'm in the States right now. So, I will watch your future content because I'm feeling "saudade" do Portugal. Spero che tu e la tua famiglia stiate bene. Um Grande Abraço, 再见老师
It's amazing how easily you grasp foreign languages along with their various dialects. I'm sure that you would understand what I'm talking about in my video series: "Trzaskobłyski Myślowe"
A request : compare & contrast North Catalan with southern catalan ....eg town of cadaques versus Alicante city. The former is very french ( exit = sortida ) while the second is more italian ( exit = uixcita ) ....700 km apart. Tell is where is most italian.....or is it Valencia in the middle ?
Wish you all the best with the family emergency. Enjoy your trip around Europe! Should you decide to visit Bruges, you can always contact me. I work for the city and could show you around or something :)
Kraków, Poland (or at least Warszawa, but Kraków is better). Switch it up from just Greco-Italic and Germanic languages in the Indo-European umbrella. Go to a Slavic country, Poland is a good one, but if it needs to be closer to Italy then maybe the Dalmatian region, Croatia, etc. (even Slovenia). Or Prague in Czechia, etc. Or even the Balto-Slavic group overall, so Lithuania/Latvia. Something else than just Romance and English babbling all the time ;-) .... time for some Indo-European diversification (before even going into the Iranic and Indian branches).
Hello Metatron! I need to ask this because i was really happy with much of your content in your first channel and really interested in it, but i want to be sure I'm hearing history contents from an expert. As I saw in your description here in your second channel you have university degrees in languages but what about history? Do you have any? Because I'm pretty sure you are telling the truth in all of your videos but nowdays all kinds of people start a youtube channel thinking they can make history. As i remember from your videos you are trying to defend it and that's a noble cause indeed! I'm asking this because i felt after speaking with a friend that every youtuber should have a background before treating about certain matters. Have a good future!
I vote for a tour of the temples--both Greek and Roman 🏛🏛
And, I lit a candle for your Mama 🕯

Porto is the original Portugal.

Not sure why, but I am always interested in the etymology of words, whatever language the words are from!
If you go to Spain you should try Granada and go see the Alhambra. Andalucía in general looks like such a pretty place to visit.

🎉 Hello, MT! Good to see you, again.
Modern Greek (and maybe Ancient) is one language I'd Ike to see covered on this channel.
Please teach also Sicilian, I'm a Filipino and I am learning that beautiful language.
I didn't know you are Sicilian! Do you speak the dialect? I hope all is well with your family! Grazie per tutto quello che fai!
He made videos talking in Sicilian

These plans sounded epic😢
Watching this for the first time 7 months later and not seeing a single video is sad... :/
You should visit Malta first since it is so close, and film yourself trying to understand Maltese with the locals.
From what I could tell when I was there, Maltese seems to be a bit of a mix of Arabic and Italian with some English influences, but I am not a linguist.
He tried to understand maltese before. He’s not going to understand much, as it’s mostly Arabic mixed in with random Italian words.

I can't wait to see what you post. I would love to go to Venice.

Poland ♥️ 🇵🇱 love the food and culture

Look at this man's eyes when he talks about his wife :)
Thanks for the update, we are all hoping everything will be alright.
I'd love to see any of the Greek content like the architecture on the main channel, or if you're posting on the language channel, differences in modern Greek as it has changed over the centuries.
I’d like to see Germany, France, the entirety of the Balkans, Poland and Finland.

Maybe you can try Dutch 😂 We have a bunch of loanwords from French and we use tons of English. That might make for a fun vid 😊
Hi Raffaello, I am Argentine-Italian, I live in Madrid, and if you travel here I will buy you a birra.

Different parts of Sicily sound amazing.
I hope everything goes as best as possible, Metatron. Cheers

Historical... Yeah, go with food. Traditional meals, how is it made, maybe if they're eaten on a certain date.
Keep up the good work and best of wishes to you!
Detroit? Dang it, you could've had some Detroit style pizza. I would loved to hear your thoughts good or bad.

Speaking of languages to cover in a future video, I'd be keen to see one on Salentino.
How do you plan to travel train, buses, or car?
Wish you all the best with the family emergency. Enjoy your trip around Europe! Should you decide to visit Bruges, you can always contact me. I work for the city and could show you around or something :)
Go to Catania and Syracuse please .
If possible, can you see if there's any Arab and Aramaic remaining in the dialect .
Safe journey to you both.
I was just thinking today that where is Metatron's academy.
I am trying to learn Spanish, I’d love to see some Spanish content.
I’m so excited you’re back!
Hey now, Palermo to Paris is ~1400 miles! That's not close!! That's almost as far as Boston to Miami!
Athens, Greece!

Throwing one in for Portugal and Galicia and their respective languages.
Especially Galician, because there is not much content out there for it.
Moved to the US?
Cherchez la femme!
You should definitely go to Spain for sure and Almeida, Portugal
If you spend time in Paris, I'd be delighted to meet you.
