Would love to see more grid videos...I love watching your process, it is so outside my norm, but I love it. Everytime I watch one of your videos, I think as you are placing down a piece of tape, "oh, no, not there", and then I'm happy with where you've placed it. Like I said, so outside my norm, but I love watching your videos. Who know, it might just become my norm going forward. Happy Birthday, and have a wonderful two weeks vacay.
I am so glad you love them!! Thanks for taking the time to watch 🥰 and thank you! We are spending a week at an all inclusive, and I couldn't be more exciting! We've never been on a trip like this 🥰
The purple at the beginning is lovely, like a bright orchid color. I think that using my less-dominate hand (my left hand) will help me to create loose compositions. I like your tip to not fill in completely each grid. Keeping some white/negative space adds sparkle to the design and more movement too. Such good tips on coming back and adding to or covering up with gesso/white paint if necessary. TFS!
My professor gave us a similar assignment in art school years ago. I did mine as drawings which I still have. After watching your video, I'm going to redo them as mixed-media paintings. Thanks for the idea and the inspiration! ❤
I would definitely like to see more grid videos like these. I would also like to see you do some of your 100 days challenge. Done slowly and talk us through it. I love your work, but I struggle to work as loosely and free flowing as you do. If I could hear your thought process I’m hoping it would help me. Thanks. Happy birthday. 🎉
That's a really great idea! I have been so inconsistent with posting about my 100 day project this year, I have too many spinning plates! I love the idea of filming some of them to share! and thank you so much for the birthday wishes! 😍
I got my journal (thanks for the link). Would love to see you draw out the boxes. I love the template idea. Last night I was struggling to draw even boxes (eyeroll - you'd think that would be "easy" LOL). Love this practice.
I get that! Sometimes the first steps are the most difficult! Maybe you will find this template helpful: view.flodesk.com/pages/64362e0cfa28aa2f3032009d
What appeals to me about the grid journal is: the size of the squares are not intimidating, they’re manageable without feeling too overwhelming and a feeling of accomplishment.
Would you be willing to share the various templates for those of us too impatient to measure our own? I keep meaning to make some templates but then I get to “busy” playing 😂 have fun in vacation!
I would be happy to share! I'll have to figure out the best way to do so. I'll post it with my next grid journal video. But shoot me a quick email, and I can send you the template sooner once I finish with it. my email: brooke@bbhenryart.com
For anyone interested, I've made a template to help you draw your grids! I've included some of my favorite grid sizes. If this is something you would find useful, please download it for free here: www.bbhenry.com/freebie-grid-journal-template
I love your grid videos, and you have a process of it's own and I love it. I do think that you could make your grids a little bigger. Do you leave that washi tape down or do you ever lift it up and take it off. I think it may be neat to take some of them off. I love your work BB, I think it is gorgeous.
I like vary the size of the grids from page to page so that they aren't all the same! Do you mean the black masking tape that I put down in thin strips? I ended up leaving them all down in this spread, but it can definitely be fun to take them up and leave a "ghost" type impression 🤍
They are so fun to create and watch! I think the journal is pretty good. The pages are a medium weight - ideally they could be a little bit heavier. But if I'm using supplies that are more likely to bleed I will use gesso. Also, I tend to not use too much water in this journal. I'm so glad that you enjoyed this one!
It's so easy to fill in each square, I have to remind myself to not go overboard 😊
This looks so fun!! I've never tried anything like this before.
Thank you! It is such a fun and addicting technique!

That is going to be so awesome! I love the idea of revisiting and reimagining our previous works of art 🤍
Watching your process is very interesting.
I am so glad you think so! Thanks!

Yes! I completely agree! I love how all of the grids are cohesive, yet each one is its own piece of artwork.

PS love these videos! Keep them coming! I would love any abstract advice and help you can give with a video maybe?
So happy that you enjoy them! Can you be more specific? What kind of advice are you looking for?
Always fun 😊
I LOVE creating in my grid journal! THanks for watching!
I LOVE THIS THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING

More grids for me! Also, the journal you are using, does it bleed thru to other side? The way you glue, mark and paint.
They are so fun to create and watch!
