Usually Japanese eating competition are about quantity over longer period of time, like a marathon or middle distance rather than sprinting. They eats with different techniques, comparatively more elegantly.
Seeing she able to adapt and keep up in a kinda Sprint eating got my respect.

Does anybody else have a problem with how little attention they give to the women's competition? Only recap snippets are televised. Don't get me wrong they promote Miki sudo very well. But they don't give the same attention to the actual women's competition. I get that the men's is more popular it might make more money. But I assume like the super bowl fans will TuneIn to watch everything that's available to watch while waiting for the men's competition to start. That's just my opinion. Especially this year, when nobody got to see the men's competition.

Men and women have separate contests. Joey just took 1st place for the men’s competition for the 16th time now.
The thing that makes this whole thing a joke is the Buns are not even eaten and everybody knows it but they all play along with it they soak the buns to the point where they just disintegrate and they are not eaten so the whole thing is a sham
