Dr. G.G. Kawira is a multifaceted professional known for her roles as an actor, screenplay writer, and medical doctor. With 6 years of experience in acting and 4 years in scriptwriting, she brings innovation, vision, and boundless enthusiasm to storytelling. She believes passionately in the transformative power of art to drive meaningful change. Dr. Kawira has starred in 15 plays, winning Best Actress at the Kenya National Drama Festivals for "Siri Ya Sufuri," and has appeared in numerous acclaimed short films and feature films including "White Feather," "Pear," "She is Number One," "Nailantei," "Ripe Mango," "Rise of the Phoenix," and "Punchlines." She honed her acting skills at Nairobi Performing Arts and has authored screenplays such as "Gamble of the Kid" (Showmax) and the award-winning "Pear," recognized in Kenya, Nigeria, and the USA. Her work has earned nominations, including two Women in Film Awards and accolades from the Embassy of Denmark and the Gender Based Violence Recovery Center (GVRC).
Dr. G.G. sat down to share with us a little about her past, present, and the upcoming film Shadows. She has always been a dreamer. Raised by a mother who played a significant role in inspiring her to aspire to greatness, she is now realizing her dreams step by step. Acting, to her, embodies the optimistic side of life, and at this stage, she views it as an indispensable part of her existence.
The Film Shadows follows JD (Justin Mirichii), a successful finance manager, who navigates the intense conflict at work, personal life, and inner turmoil. The drama unfolds as he steps into a therapist's office, forced to battle the effects of his traumatic childhood and past.
