Memorial Day, 1893, The Walter L. Main circus train was traveling down an embankment towards the town of Tyrone PA. Due to the overloaded weight of the train, the brakes failed, culminating in a derailment that destroyed all but two cars, resulting in the release of elephants, lions, exotic birds, and snakes.
