I used to rescue horses and rehab them in my own stable. It is hard work and when a horse cannot be rehomed or is too ill/injured it is so sad. I eventually got burned out...doing it all on my own. God bless you all.
I don’t think there’s ever been a more apt name for a horse than Sugar Plum. What an absolute peach 🍑 How sweet when she got loose and came to you, I think she really needs a lot of comfort. Between the pain of those poor feet - damn those abscesses are impressive- and all the life changes she needs reassurance ❤😔
Hot tubbing the foot (as hot as is tolerated by the horse) in a strong solution of Epsom salts (magnesium sulphate) several times a day will help get the abscess draining. Much better than plain salt.
Those soaking boots are easiest to get on if you completely loosen the strap. And put the liquid in after you've gotten the boot on otherwise it's just splashes out :-) There is another soaking boot that you can get at Tractor Supply, it's a tall red canvas one with two different sized sole pads. They're much easier to get on, and because they're so tall, you can pour the soak in after you've got it on and it doesn't splash out. My horses actually prefer that one, less messing around, less stress.
Hey guys I feel so bady for pooy sugar plum. She doesn't deserve anything like she is going threw. And Miss Libby is definitely sassy girl too. All my 💕🥰❤️🤗💖❤️ to all. And all the beautiful horses 🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐴🐴 too.
Great video update as always. A bit of everything. Poor Sugar Plum. Those abscesses are something else. Hope she can recover with time, love, and meds.
Sugarplum is such a good sport. She is so sweet and she was clearly well loved and cared for at one point and it's just so sad she's gotten to this level.
I was thinking the same. I saw a hoof trimmer saying he had tried salicylic acid on a cow's abscess for weeks and it wasn't working. He said his grandad had a dairy farm and swore by iodine. He tried that and the cow was cured in a couple of weeks.
Sending cheers and hopefully warmth from Southern California🌊. Always amazed at how much you do and especially in the cold 🥶. Hoping Sugar Plum flourishes - she’s a sweetie.
Poor Sugarplum.. abcess' in all 4 feet..jeez she can't even favour one foot as they're all so bad..and they are big area's of abcess..the throbbing..heat snd the pain must be awful for her..this is going to be a long treatment and recovery routine just to get her to be able to be seen by Pauly as there is no way she could put pressure on the remaining 3 legs to get shod..unless she is given some anaesthesia and they're done whilst she is down..l don't know if thats a possibility?..l just find it hard to accept that her previous owner didn't get a vet or farrier out before it got this bad and how come she has an abcess IN EVERY FOOT..!! MOLLY..what on earth are you doing in that stall ?..you got a bruise above your eyes not you got a bloody big slice on your beautiful nose..!! You little minx..!! Great video as ever, ladies..great to see Libby out of pain and trotting along nicely now..🇬🇧💕✝️👏👍👏👍🐎🐎🐎🐎💔🇺🇸
I like the human word training you are doing. Like the "step up" as I am firm believer in them learning our language so that they can understand us and what we are asking of them. Less stress on both parties and if they should ever have to be rehomed. I believe this is why there is so many problems when rehoming, they are not being stubborn or nasty, they just don't understand what you are asking them to do as their previous trainer probably used press, clicks, etc. I only wish it could be standardized training of using human words going forward. Thank you for doing this.
@@SuzanneHinds-q3k Exactly and thank you!!! It also falls under the safety category of what if you get injured and you can't use leg pressure or you can't use the reins? There is an actual court case of a fellow getting caught for being stinking drunk and getting off because his horse knew human commands. The horse would take this fellow home. It knew the rules of the road and to go home. A judge actually got on the horse to see it as he did not believe it. LOL As he said, best a sober horse do the driving than a drunk behind a wheel.
Now there's a judge with good sense. Have to admit, my girl always knows the way home, and she's proven it. Long as I ride her anywhere, I can drop the reins and she'll get us home. The part that surprised me was that she doesn't necessarily go back the way we came. She's frequently chosen a shorter route, but never makes a mistake on the direction. Myself, I think she's looking to get back for an early dinner.
@@SuzanneHinds-q3k LOL However it is amazing at how well animals can navigate so much better than us. And yes, I had to agree with the ruling too. First time in a long time i did though. I do hope new trainers coming up will read our posts and train in this manner.
This Is that big dark horse a TWH with the bad back legs with the muscle loss? The way he was twisting his legs as he walked remains nded me of a Twh who was used to doing the big lick. And it can cause sevear damage to the hind end over time....
Have you ever tried diapers to wrap an abscess foot. Much easier to get everything to stay in place and then tape the diaper in place. Trust me, it works well. Then use vet wrap over the diaper. Extra padding in there
I’m a people X-ray Tech. Based on what we do, would you be able to do an axial X-ray of the hip or another that we do called a Y-view of the shoulder but do it for the hip instead? Just a thought. Take care. ❤️❤️
I remember when she returned to you barefoot you mentioned the special shoes she had before adoption. Maybe a light trim and building barefoot will give her a sassy future. Appreciate you sharing.. Good you have a regular vet that cares.
Yes Pauly advised whoever had her to continue with those special shoes..the new owners DIDN'T do as advised and she came back lame !! Its not rocket science..if a farrier advises you to use specific shoes for a specific horse, you just do it.. they didn't and caused Libby pain. That is unacceptable in any situation..
If anyone was acting very odd yesterday there was a strong intense energy coming in from the eclipse I myself felt all afternoon too even after it was done the energy still lingers for some..horses are sensitive to energies thought I'd mention it 😅
❤Hello from Northern Nevada! I was just wondering if Marisa rides horses and if she owns one? I get that Cindy has Merry and Nate has Envy but I never hear about Marisa connected with a horse.
My friends horse once had a abscess in her hooves and it would not come out, JESUS suggested salt water buckets for her feet for a week and all abscesses came out and the hooves have not had abscesses since. JESUS suggested rock salt as it is unrefined and chemical free. Please note it was a little difficult to put foot in water bucket but once horse felt what the salt water was doing, it then became hard to get her foot out of salt water bucket, lol. All praise to the ELOHIM of YHWH for revealing all.

Cow farriers use iodine then salacylic acid and wrap. Can you do that?

The hoof GP (who does cows) swears by iodine.

Abcesses are so painful , was that something like magic cushion , or a drawing pack? you packed her with?

I definitely agree. Most horses can learn at least 140 words, and I have my mare trained to respond to word commands for pretty much everything.

Love that you love these horses you do phenomenal work. What bit were you using on libby?
No bit, it’s a bitless bridle with shanks :)
Can we hem them bathed
On Libby ...do you think she could use a running Martingale?
Premie size baby diapers for sugar plum and then wrap. One diaper will do 2 hooves...Easy peezy..
Was that thrush in her tail?

Why don’t you use maruka honey on sugars feet ? She looks so unbearably sore 😢😢😢
