- Are you ready for a walk through the stunning city center of Leipzig? In this video, we take you on a tour of the most beautiful and interesting places in the city.
Our walk starts in the bustling Petersstraße, where you'll find the Deutsche Bank and the renowned music school "Johann Sebastian Bach". Next, we'll visit the Petersstraße shopping mile and the nearby Petersbogen shopping center.
Our next stop is the historic marketplace with the beautiful old town hall and the famous Leipzig weekly market. You can also visit Grimmaische Strasse, another popular shopping mile with many shops and restaurants.
Just a few steps away is the Zeitgeschichtliches Forum Leipzig, a fascinating museum that takes you on a journey through Germany's history in the 20th century. Right next door is the Historischer Erker with the exhibition "Unzeitgemäße Zeitgenossen", which deals with the history of the city of Leipzig.
Our path leads us across the Augustusplatz with the bronze statue of the St. Paul's University Church to the University of Leipzig and the Paulinum, a modern auditorium and university church. Many concerts and events take place here.
From the MDR-Kubus, the modern television studio of the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk, our walk continues to the Opera Fountain and finally to the impressive Leipzig Opera. Right next door is the Geschwister-Scholl-Haus, a memorial site for the Scholl siblings who were active in the resistance against National Socialism.
A few steps away, you'll find the impressive Nikolaikirche, a symbol of the peaceful revolution in 1989 and the Monday demonstrations that led to the reunification of Germany. Nearby, there is also the Antikenmuseum der Universität Leipzig and the exciting Kriminalmuseum.
We see the main train station and Richard-Wagner-Platz with the impressive dandelion fountain and the site of the peaceful revolution.

@@getaround4K Alles klar, sehr gerne doch! Es wunderte mich nur etwas, das hier nur so wenig Straßenmusiker zu sehen sind. In der Regel sieht man nämlich deutlich mehr gute Straßenmusiker bei einem Rundgang durch Leipzig. Da ich selbst seit Jahren in Leipzig lebe habe ich mich sehr über dieses tolle Video meiner Heimat gefreut. Es kommen die vielen Facetten der schönen Stadt sehr gut zum Ausdruck. Besonders gefällt mir, dass man wirklich den Eindruck bekommt, live durch die Straßen zu schlendern, da es nicht mit zusätzlicher Hintergrundmusik hinterlegt war. Schade, dass an dem Tag nur so wenige Musiker da waren, denn das würde die Atmosphäre noch schöner machen.
