Known as the “South Pole” of Hong Kong, Po Toi is the territory’s southernmost island with only about a dozen residents who live on it full-time. One of them is 70-year-old Law Kam Shue, who has been there for over five decades. While his family and friends moved into the city many years ago, Law proudly says he’ll stay in Po Toi, no matter what.

Why would you leave such comfortable place for cramped, crowded, and noisy hongkong?

satria amiluhur Too bad for money and modern shit. If i were a Chinese living in the city and learned from my family that i have relative living there, i would save tons of money and move there.

Damn right do I feel the same here too. I would also live in a wonderful paradise with beautiful seaside scenery than to live in a packed crowded environment with noise stress and pollution. Well I guess the motto of modern life is to make as much money show off and compete with the rest of the world.

He basically having the greatest life compared to some of old people that live in Hong Kong... He have big house to entertain him rather than live in the cage (bcause the living expenses dem expensive)... Everyone might think that he is a weird loner but at least he live in his fullest life rather than living in the cage in the busy city. #imho #mindmygrammars

Lots of islanders move to cities because they find it boring, you'd be surprised. Same with small rural towns, just because we never experienced it doesn't mean it's as romanticized as it may be.

@@synecdoche8783 But the thing is, there's more pros in the country side if you're talking about overall health and welfare. That island in particular seems to be doing fine in terms of food and basic living. I guarantee you once the young people from the countryside that left to go to the cities grow old, they'd want to come back to retire in the countryside. If they didn't it's because they have too much debts, problems, ECT. That it's not possible for them to come back

Curious...the first crab he caught, he threw back because he said they rarely eat it. He called it a bread crab but the captioning had it as cancer pagurus. Cancer pagurus is edible & is reddish brown color which that definitely wasn't. The other videos have minor caption/translation issues as well.
