“You’d think after 400 years of living, this guy would develop a personality” DYINGGGGG😂 You DNFing Strange makes me sad but I also completely understand that it’s not for everyone!!
I actually really liked 'They both die...' a lot. I'm someone who's incredibly scared of dying, and somehow this booked helped. I really appreciated a YA book that addressed death and its randomness, without being religious.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo emotionally destroyed me. Evelyn is such a great character. Loved her... I think it is a great bi representation, I agree with you. What I loved the most was how realistic all the relationship appeared to me, but to be honest what I loved the most was her friendship with Harry Cameron and how they supported each other through through.
As someone who identifies as a member of LGTBQPAI+ community, I fell in love with They Both Die At The End. It just hits differently and It's one of my favorite books of all time and they way the author wrote the characters stayed with me long after I finished the book. It's so hard to find good LGTBQPAI novels these days and I was so in love with Mateo and Rufus.
Honestly one of my favorite parts of They Both Die At The End was that the characters were written like normal teens. Mateo’s character development was great, and Rufus had such a fantastic personality. I’m glad that the book didn’t fall into a hole with a lot of other YA novels.
All I can say is that it made me cry more than any other book I’ve read before. 😭👌 Spoilers: Idk what I expected based on the title but it still hit different
@@Aedon__ It's really encapsulated perfectly in those quotes Cindy picked. It just really made me cringe. Different people like different writing. I'm glad you liked the book :) (also I dont like insta-love stories)
Well, speaking as a Cuban, the whole heritage is weird and diverse. Cubans tend to be white (like Spanish-white or Italian-white. Not Scandinavian obv) or they're black, like African Descent black. I am one of those. We call ourselves "Afro-Cuban or Afro-Latina". Cubans are not "Mexican" or "Puerto Rican (even tho I am also a black PR too)". Just to educate anyone who doesn't know about what Cubans look like and are assuming Evelyn looked Mexican. She would have looked more like an Italian.
Even Mexicans and PRs are not all brown-skinned, the same applies to all other countries like Chile, Argentina, Venezuela, etc. that also have a lot of diversity and ethnic groups 🤗
*SLAMS FISTS ON TABLE* I read Six of Crows because of you AND GUESS WHAT. I'm complete and utter trash for the book and I immediately bought the sequel once I finished it. I'm so glad I watched your video on it because I would've never picked it up because it's categorized as 'high-fantasy' (I've only read urban fantasy so far!). Time to prepare myself for Crooked Kingdom now :') THANK YOU SO MUCHHH AHHHHHHH :)) (Sorry for my English,I suck very much)
While I was reading They Both Die at the End I wasn't a big fan, butI literally haven't been able to stop thinking about it. I actually listened to it on Audible, and while it was kind of slow (especially for an audiobook), I feel like the voices actually helped with making the characters and their dialogue more real. When Rufus says something cringe-y, I would have an attitude like, "well, that's Rufus for you!" I came within an inch of returning the audiobook because I was so underwhelmed, but the longer I go after finishing it... idk, the story really stuck with me
TSHOEH is a great book, really worthy to read. Shame on me that I'd only read it recently. I also stayed awake for 2 and half hour, listening to Reputation and Lover of TS, 'cause it seems like it fits for the EH life story. Evelyn Hugo is one hell of a fascinating character, perfectly crooked.
I need to read Evelyn Hugo now! WTF how is this just sitting on my shelf unread Girl i relate to looking like an actual child while being a half-functioning adult.
My supervisor in college was 5'2'' and looked like she was twelve. We would be browsing in the dining hall and teachers for a visiting middle school would try to lead her away. A bartender threatened to break her driver's license. Residents in our building would sign their death warrants speaking down to her and unleash a 5'2'' petite pillar of volcanic rage. Good times.
'I'm homophobic' omg I almost had a heart attack. xD Yes Evelyn Hugo is my favourite book I read so far this year- nothing has yet topped it. Recently I lost my motivation to read cuz everything I picked up I ended up hating- but watching your videos makes me want to read more.
evelyn hugo is def one of my fave books this year and ever too, it's just OBJECTIVELY GOOD, and was done so well. i'm glad that these vids are helping you want to read more!!
ok, hear me out. the fact that they both die at the end doesn't explore the rest of the world is, in short form, because it doesn't need it. its the exact same world as ours, with the only difference being the calls that people get when their going to die, which is explained through the other POV's we get. that's our insight of the world. its the type of story it is. instead of the two protagonists living and "figuring out whats truly going on", we get a more realistic view with realistic people. thats what i love about it. how real the characters are made out to be.
I'm surprised you gave Evelyn Hugo such a high grade! I loved Evelyn as a character and her cast of characters but Monique as a narrator was lackluster and her dialogue was stilted and very PC but in that "performative way' as opposed to her speaking through her lived experience as a POC. It seemed the author was afraid to make her as flawed and interesting as Evelyn and did her a diservice as our 'eyes'. I kind of wish her part of the story had been even remotely as well written as Evelyn Hugo. It's great that Evelyn gets highlighted but then make your narrator equally as nuanced or get rid of them. It was still a lovely entrancing book that I read in a single day but it kept it from being a re-read sort of book for me.
I really enjoyed The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, and most of the characters in the book but I didn't really like Monique I just found her and the characters relating to her like her mom and husband were kind of blah to me.
@@cfbg that the story didn't give her any time to flesh out her character at all so she just felt like a hollow character purely used as narrative device rather than a fully fleshed out person.
I loved The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. She's definitely an amazingly written character. It's cool that you created a playlist for it! I immediately thought of Evelyn when I heard Dying in L.A. by Panic! At The Disco :- )
I really love your reviews, they’re super insightful and well thought out and it’s so fascinating to hear your opinions and you make extremely valid points. But I do have to admit that I’m absolute trash for The Loneliest Girl In The Universe AND They Both Die At The End. They’re both just really my type of story because what really makes a story for me is the characters and I fell in love with every single character in both of these stories. I don’t know if that speaks to my limited reading/life expectancies but I really couldn’t help but love the stories because of that.
Literally just stayed awake all night reading They Both Die at the End, and you're the first youtuber who shares my opinion on it. thought maybe because of the general hype my standards just became too high, but after your review I feel a lot more solid in my conclusion. Though, like you said, I really appreciate many aspects of it (it's not every day you read about two gay LatinX boys) and understand why so many people fell in love with it.
Literally just finished the book and was scouting the booktubes to figure out what I was missing but then I found this video and THANK YOU RUclips for this. The book was still good and I will recommend it to the right audience but for me, it had so much more potential which it didn't fulfill.
So I just spent half an hour trying to find this video because I knew you made it and also that, I just finished they both die at the end. I feel like I can finally go to sleep now, it's 2:05 am now.
yasss an almost 20 min video... I'm here for it! "The seven husbands.... of mutha mucking Evelyn Hugo" CINDY STOP SAYING ICONIC LINES I CAN'T KEEP TRACK ANYMORE!! I haven't read that book yet, but I've read The Evidence of the Affair which is a short story by the same author and it was sooooo good (I cried like a baby).
omg wrapup videos are such a pain in the ass to edit bc they're so long lol my happy medium is like 10 minutes tbh. omg the evidence of the affair is on my to-read list!! glad to hear you loved it and cried like a baby (i love books that make me cry)
Oh my gosh.... where to start! First off, I love how critically thorough your reviews are. It’s so refreshing to see a wrap up where all the points made are so well put forward and easy to understand. Secondly, I’m SOOOO glad you enjoyed Evelyn Hugo. This bi representation is exceptional!!! 👌🏻 Haha... You trashed one of my fave books ever!!! But I loved every second. They Both Die at the End is definitely one of those books that really resonated with me personally. But do I get why that’s not the case for everyone??? Abso-fricking-lutely!!! As much as I love the emotional journeys in Adam’s books, his writing can be a little on the juvenile side... that being said, still love him and still love that book. And love you as well... (obvs!) This video was amazing as always my dear! Hope you’re doing good this day! 💙📚💫
I just read Evelyn hugo. emotions have left the chat and I am expecting to think about it and cry for a week once they come flooding back in.... same thing that happened after I read crooked Kingdom. I love ur channel and ur reccomendations cindy ❤️
'Some shit smells fishy... and it ain't space food' - WTF Cindy XD I love how affected you are by books. I just love how a good book can really make you so emotional
I finished Evelyn Hugo today and I’m looking at every single review on this book ever, I’m in love with it!! You’re my favorite booktuber, so I went to u first :) I cried so much at the end, starting with Harry’s death. He was my favorite character, and I actually did predict that the man Harry loved was Moniques dad, only cause why else would she put that character?
Yessss an Evelyn playlist! I am so here for that! Honestly though I too was blown away by the book and actually listened to it on audiobook which was fantastic! Omg that design book is s t u n n i n g! Loved your wrap up Cindy!!
I just read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, and I'm here, still crying with your review because it's SO REAL, I was nervous too that I wouldn't enjoy it, but when I finish it, I was like: AND... WHAT'S NEXT WITH MY LIFE?, I had a hole in my heart 😭
@@withcindy The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo! It was on my to read for so long and as soon as I finished it my first thought was "I have to find Cindy's review on this!" hahaha
Haha, name dropping in stories always makes me think the author wants you to be impressed with how many people in history they know about. Not saying that's what they're doing, buuuuttttt...that's how it comes across. I never realized Evelyn Hugo was Cuban. My grandparents are from Cuba and I don't know that I've read a book with a Cuban character. So thanks for putting that fact on my radar! Strange the Dreamer is funny because people get really passionate about their love or hate of it. I 100% can see how it's not for everyone, and it took me awhile to get into, but in the end I really enjoyed it. That said, I don't know why some people get defensive about others not liking it. The writing style is so specific that it's not going to vibe with everybody. So I'm sorry it wasn't for you, but that's obviously totally fine! I really appreciate you acknowledging the importance of diversity and still respecting the book as a book (in reference to They Both Die). I think it's always important that people be honest about their thoughts on a story 🙂 And you always do that with such great insight!
i'm fine with name dropping as long as it's actually purposeful in the story, but in this book it was not and was very jarring. i did not know evelyn hugo was cuban either until i read the book, and was pleased to see this story was about a woman of color. i'm glad you ended up enjoying strange the dreamer, but yea it's definitely an acquired taste and niche interest so not for everybody like me lol! i think what sucks about diverse books is that we want them so desperately that they tend to be hyped up a LOT because we get so excited about representation, but that doesn't mean the story is necessarily good. i've felt lukewarm about many "diverse" stories so far even though i want more representation. still, i'm glad that many people have resonated with the book!
readwithcindy have you ever read the Sandman comics? My hubby read them and the main character does a Shakespeare play in one issue, and the author put that the issue was by him and William Shakespeare. And literally, nothing else happens in that issue. I haven’t read it myself, so it’s probably not fair of me to say, but that sounds like the worst case of name dropping/borderline plagiarism I’ve ever heard. I completely get what you mean about diversity. I think there’s starting to be more diversity in contemporary books, but it still seems rare in fantasy (although it’s getting better). I never want authors to fulfill a checklist just so they can say there’s diversity; I want diverse stories and characters to actually be written well. And while I’m super happy certain stories are resonating with people, I don’t think it’s fair to give a book a pass solely because it has something diverse in it. Anyway, that could be a whole tangent that’s probably too long for the comments 😆 you’re amazing and I loved your wrap up!
I was very reserved while reading They both die at the end at first because a book with that premise scared me. So as I kept reading I was like "don't get attached, don't get attached" and I thought I did a good job until the end where (SPOILER) Mateo just died and I was balling.... I did end up liking the book, not one of my favourites but worth a read to me
I’m SO EXCITED that I saw you DNF’d Strange the Dreamer!! I got 160 pages in and I just couldn’t finish. And I couldn’t find a single bad review on booktube.
Just finished reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo after picking it up on a whim and it was a 👌 ride. Her character pulled me in and kept me interested all the way through the end. This and The Night Tiger are one of my favorite reads so far this year 👀
this video is like two years old but i really liked adam silvera's history is all you left me, but felt the same way you did for they both die at the end and more happy than not. history is all you left me was a story about grief and ocd that actually took the time to discuss all of those topics, whereas i felt they both die at the end to be too short to actually discuss anything substantially. hopefully you'll pick it up!
I WAS SO WORRIED YOU WERE GOING TO SAY THAT THE POPULAR BOOK YOU DNF’d WAS EVELYN HUGO OMG MY HEART! EDIT AFTER WATCHING FULL VÍDEO: okay, so, Strange The Dreamer, a TON of mixed reviews. it’s never intrigued me but the hype around it has been there just buzzing in my ear. I’m listening to you though cause no. I thought the same thing with Six of Crows and ended up becoming a hoe for SOC as well. They Both Die At The End is just... 🤷🏽♀️ it’s the only Adam Silvera solo novel I’ve read (well, listened to) and I thought it was okay. AND THE FUCKING STOVE AND *SPOILER* RUFUS WOULDVE NOT DIED IF IT WASNT FOR MEETING MATEÓ! Matt Haig has a novel called The Humans that Emily Fox raves about. so maybe it’s better that How To Stop Time of whatever it’s called...? anyway, great video per usual. still living for you!
the hype over strange the dreamer never intrigued me but i gave it a try anyway for the readalongs and just could not follow thru with it LOL i know tons of people love it tho so idk. same for they both die at the end. i feel so meh about it. it's my first and only adam silvera book too and i don't think i'll read the others bc i'm not a fan of his writing style. i am curious about matt haig's the human though so i might give it a try but have low expectations for it lol
Honestly they both die at the End is one of my favourite books, but that's probably pretty personal as well. I really enjoyed 'More Happy Than Not' by Adam Silvera.
Okay, I completely agree with you on The Loneliest Girl in the Universe. At the time I finished it and enjoyed it and rated it four stars but that was back when I didn't know how to rate books (I still don't?? But I'm better. 🤷🏻♀️) But I felt the writing was very simple as well and I wasn't sure how I felt about the story while reading it. The twist at the end is definitely what makes it. I don't think it's something I'll ever pick up again. I also completely understand why you would DNF Strange the Dreamer. I personally LOVED it but it's for sure not a book for everyone. I'm glad you gave it a try though!
You are...HILARIOUS! I've been on the fence about reading the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo but I just might pick it up this month. Great video as usual!
The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo is AMAZING, I really enjoyed every page. They both died in the end was so boring for me. I just couldn't finish it. I know I am 2+ years late here, lol.
_They Both Die at the End_ is my favorite book I've ever read. Am I proud of that fact? No, not really. I'm aware of the glaring issues, from the strange, forced slang to the lack of worldbuilding. In my opinion, the book could have been improved so much by maybe just one more draft. I'd seen the title of this book on Barnes & Noble's website looking for another book, and it immediately caught my eye and drew me in. I read the excerpt they had on there (the whole first chapter, I think?), and though the title stuck in my head, the characters really didn't. But when I saw it at a book fair at school, I decided to give it a chance and buy it. A boy who saw me grab it off the shelf told me he loved that book (still very confused by him considering he's made homophobic comments but that's off-topic), and after I bought it, one of my friends told me they liked the book. I didn't read the quotes on the inside cover of the book. Didn't research anything about it or about Adam Silvera. Didn't read any reviews. I remember thinking at one point, "Man, this idea could be cool as an insta-love romance, but it seems like that's not the direction this book is going at all. I bet if Mateo and Rufus had more time to get to know each other, they might fall in love or something." So as the romance got more obvious bit by bit, I started to piece it all together. I think that's why I loved the book so much-the characters weren't expecting to fall in love with a person in a day, and I wasn't expecting it either, which was what made me love it so much, especially since I don't read many physical books with prominent queer characters. *spoiler* After Mateo and Rufus kiss, that was when I started crying because I realized it was going to be over soon. However, once I actually closed the book, I wasn't crying anymore. That's the crazy thing about this book that I _think_ is a good thing-despite being about how these characters had so much left of their lives that they were going to live, it actually wrapped things up very well and gave me a nice sense of closure. And one last positive note: I love the chapters told from random people's perspectives; it reinforces that in the end, all of us are connected, which was probably my biggest takeaway from the book. That, or that I really should look up what genre a book is before reading it. Then again, I literally just came to the conclusion that that was why I loved this book so freaking much, so maybe not. My point in writing this is, I can fully understand why somebody else wouldn't really be a fan, but I definitely am, though it was probably the circumstances I read the book under rather than the well-craftedness of the book itself. P.S. Definitely going to check out The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo!
ahhh when you were saying you had some unpopular opinions at the beginning of the video I was so afraid that you hated Evelyn Hugo smh I should have known i could trust you
Yeeeeeeessssssssss I COMPLETELY agree about Strange the dreamer!!!!!!! Watching all of the reviews of people saying they love this book I was thinking I must be done literary dumb dumb or something. I was so bored, like I was literally falling asleep reading it. I get that or has great prose or whatever but I feel like hardly anything happened. I did not see what the hype was....I friggin adore your videos and feel like we would totally be friends and when I saw you hold that book up I was thinking of you say you like it maybe we aren't as alike as I thought..... but nope, SOULMATES!!!!!!!!
I love that you made a playlist for Evelyn! I think it is so cool how many people loved this book. Me, you, all of BookTube, my Mom - this book is going to be a classic! I am really glad you enjoyed it, Cindy :)
usually when i love a book i'll try to compile songs that remind me of the story!! the cover i put for "lucky" reminds me of evelyn hugo so much especially with all that she's gone through!
I'm years late to the game, but I'm loving your videos! Your eloquence, honesty, and humour is freaking badass :D I just finished 'They both die at the end' and was curious about your thoughts. It made me cry, but yes that stove, really?! My suspension of disbelief cracked when I realised they're practically immortal if Death Cast doesn't call. I'm off to read 'The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo' to get me some bi representation 🥰
I haven’t even read “They both die in the end” and yet I was surprised you didn’t like it coz my Instagram was filled with people crying over this book.
First of all, CONGRATS ON 5 FUCKING K, YOU QUEEN! Secondly, as always your commentary is amazing. I've been lowkey obsessed with both Sagmeister and Walsh since high school, so I did a little scream when you mentioned his book. Also, the book "The loneliest girl in the universe" sounds a bit like the short anime "Voices of a Distant Star" (done by the same guy who did Your Name) I've heard a million and one praises for Evelyn Hugo, but it never really interested me, but after your raving I think I might have to give it a try...
aww thank u! yea their work is great, i also picked up walsh's 40 days of dating and have read thru her 12 kinds of kindness project. i love that they do these side projects outside of work and experiment with these things! i still need to watch voices of a distant star, that's on netflix right? yes please read evelyn hugo!
my friends usually tell me that i don't like what's trending, so: i gave the 7 husbands of evelyn hugo 2 stars yes, i had my reasons for it, but i guess the main reason is that i did not sympathize with any of the characters at all
i feel that way about books, tv shows, movies etc! it needs to be good FROM THE BEGINNING and all the way through, you cant just rely on your audience to stick it out.
i love that i started this video at the start of my sept. wrapup exporting and finished it just as the export was done. a m a z i n g. is it weird that i haven't picked up the loneliest girl in the universe bc i've been lowkey scared of it? not just "oh i wonder if i'll like it", but like legit scared? the title is too relatable maybe LOL that evelyn hugo love tho!!! i really need to read the damn thing already!! i love a good well-rounded character :') dude when you started lifting the pamphlets i gasped and went "SHUT UP, NO WAY" and on screen you immediately went "mm-HMM" and it was so eerie and fitting 😂 oooh you're the second person i've seen who wasn't into StD (wow what an unfortunate acronym) and i'm super on the fence about reading it. on one hand, i have almost no patience. but on the other hand, it took me a long time to get into the raven boys and that turned out great. maybe i'll listen to the audiobook so i don't have to agonize over how long the book is? FDKFJLDGJ omg so! i had a feeling you weren't gonna like TBDATE but oh my GOD am i here for this!!! especially the quotes bc my bf was doing the same thing while he was reading it!! 😂 i'm almost certain i have one or two of them written down somewhere too! also! if you made alignment charts for every series (or super popular book) you read, i'd watch tf out of them. you srsly got me making them for everything i do, bookish or not
yours are like finally releasing tension after a really hard day :’) i hope lots of young queer boys can have wholesome experiences reading it at least!! also YES THAT’S WHAT I NEED, assert that bisexuality evelyn!! 😩
Listen, BAYBYYYY, I hollered when you hit with that "She a thick girl," regarding "Strange the Dreamer." I'm a big guhl, and I was just hella tickled. My day is made. 😂🤣😍
I just started The Loniest Girl in the Universe last night. The audio narration is really good so far. And The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was one of my favorite books this year. Loving your recommendations.
let me know what you think about the twist of the loneliest girl in the universe! and omg the 4 friends in evelyn hugo were SQUAD GOALS i wish they could just get together and beat the shit out of don adler. ooh that's awesome that you're an artist, you might enjoy stefan sagmeister's book then! his cover concept was really cool
I think Strange is very polarizing so don’t feel bad about that or Adam Silvera. I get a sense that with Silvera, if you love his work you love all of it but if you don’t, well, they’re all kind of similarly written. I DNF’d History is All You Left Me for critiques similar to yours. But soooo glad you loved Evelyn Hugo! What an emotional rollercoaster!
EVELYN HUGO IS SUCH A QUEEN and yeah i dont think ill be picking up any of adam silvera's books because i really did not enjoy his writing style or the way he portrays his themes lol
the way the talked, inspire me so much, you such so cool and sound like a savage smart independent woman. this may sounded dumb but please do a video how to talk like you, or random fact about you, maybe tell us the word you used a lot, that would help, this is my first time seeing you video and im so drawn and inspire by you.
You know what's the funny thing that I realized while and after reading this book? It helped me know who I am in midst of the protagonist figuring herself and who she really is and explaining it to everyone. Because of Evelyn Hugo, i finally came to a conclusion that I am bisexual because just like her, I once loved a man but my greatest love was a lady.
IM SCREAMING AT THAT EVELYN HUGO MEME AND ALIGNMENT CHART OHHHHH MY GOD WHAT A MOOD
those 4 were squad goals and if they don't beat the shit out of don adler then i will

Taylor lyrics & TSHOEH parallels 🔥🔥
i want to listen to a Taylor TSHOEH playlist when i reread the book
I need to read Evelyn Hugo now! WTF how is this just sitting on my shelf unread
Girl i relate to looking like an actual child while being a half-functioning adult.
girl you need to read evelyn hugo like YESTERDAY
"Kind of like how I'm 23 and look like I'm 12" I relate to this so much 😂
My supervisor in college was 5'2'' and looked like she was twelve. We would be browsing in the dining hall and teachers for a visiting middle school would try to lead her away. A bartender threatened to break her driver's license. Residents in our building would sign their death warrants speaking down to her and unleash a 5'2'' petite pillar of volcanic rage. Good times.
'I'm homophobic' omg I almost had a heart attack. xD
Yes Evelyn Hugo is my favourite book I read so far this year- nothing has yet topped it.
Yes!!!!!
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was the first and only (to date) book that I have cried at.
OOOH you're right that song does fit!! wow i will never listen to it the same way now thank you
I really love your reviews, they’re super insightful and well thought out and it’s so fascinating to hear your opinions and you make extremely valid points.
I binged all of your videos today in one sitting. I AM HERE FOR ALL OF THIS!
in some countries that'd be considered torture
Haha...
Totally with you. It story did play out like a movie in a lot of ways! 😂
CINDY... everything you said about Evelyn Hugo was so freaking SPOT ON! You are truly brilliant.
EVELYN HUGO IS AMAZING, THE END
I just read Evelyn hugo. emotions have left the chat and I am expecting to think about it and cry for a week once they come flooding back in.... same thing that happened after I read crooked Kingdom. I love ur channel and ur reccomendations cindy ❤️
'Some shit smells fishy... and it ain't space food' - WTF Cindy XD
I love how affected you are by books. I just love how a good book can really make you so emotional
LMAO im so sorry for my bad jokes. yea im sorry i couldnt join the readalong with you! but if you do another one i will try again :)
Maybe Good Omens in Jan/Feb?
I just finished The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and it was so good. I had all the feels. It was one of the best books I had read in 2018 for sure.
yes, def one of my fave books!
I finished Evelyn Hugo today and I’m looking at every single review on this book ever, I’m in love with it!! You’re my favorite booktuber, so I went to u first :)
I cried so much at the end, starting with Harry’s death. He was my favorite character, and I actually did predict that the man Harry loved was Moniques dad, only cause why else would she put that character?
thank you!!
Me too. I started bawling when Harry died and didn't stop from there. My favorite character, as well. Such an amazing book. 💙
Yessss an Evelyn playlist! I am so here for that! Honestly though I too was blown away by the book and actually listened to it on audiobook which was fantastic! Omg that design book is s t u n n i n g! Loved your wrap up Cindy!!
thank you tom!! i heard great things about the evelyn audiobook too!
You’re my new favorite youtuber
omg thanks for the compliment despite this boring ass video LOL
Katherine Oatmeal right?! she’s the best!!!!
they both die at the end is my favorite book everrrrr i cried
I just read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, and I'm here, still crying with your review because it's SO REAL, I was nervous too that I wouldn't enjoy it, but when I finish it, I was like: AND... WHAT'S NEXT WITH MY LIFE?, I had a hole in my heart 😭
i feel u
I also really didn’t like they both die at the end i would love to hear your rant review because nobody on the internet shares the same opinion!!
I felt the exact same way about How To Stop Time, it was literally a relief to finish it.
I just realized you’ve become my go to booktuber, everytime I read something now I go back on your old videos to see if you have reviewed it.
which book did you read!
Anyway, that could be a whole tangent that’s probably too long for the comments 😆 you’re amazing and I loved your wrap up!
well... after 500 years of living, Rhysand is still bland lol, and Feyre *still* fell for him
I was very reserved while reading They both die at the end at first because a book with that premise scared me. So as I kept reading I was like "don't get attached, don't get attached" and I thought I did a good job until the end where (SPOILER) Mateo just died and I was balling.... I did end up liking the book, not one of my favourites but worth a read to me
just finished evelyn hugo and now im watching ur review of it bc i wanted u to like it too LOLL
"...is because I'm homophobic."
Me, a gay: *almost cries*
the they both die at the end review resonated with me--- esp the stove part!!
I’m SO EXCITED that I saw you DNF’d Strange the Dreamer!! I got 160 pages in and I just couldn’t finish. And I couldn’t find a single bad review on booktube.
I also felt meh about They Both Die at the End
glad im not the only one!!
Just finished reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo after picking it up on a whim and it was a 👌 ride. Her character pulled me in and kept me interested all the way through the end. This and The Night Tiger are one of my favorite reads so far this year 👀
YESSS
“Bitch really? A stove?”
Hsjsjdjdjd OMGGGGG
The stove brought the story full circle...I loved that!
Watching this to hype myself up cause I ordered Evelyn Hugo and it’s coming tomorrow 😭 I’m so ready to read this
GET READY FOR AN EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER
this video is like two years old but i really liked adam silvera's history is all you left me, but felt the same way you did for they both die at the end and more happy than not. history is all you left me was a story about grief and ocd that actually took the time to discuss all of those topics, whereas i felt they both die at the end to be too short to actually discuss anything substantially. hopefully you'll pick it up!
Same!!
So many people DNF Strange the Dreamer, I wasn't even surprise.
the hype over strange the dreamer never intrigued me but i gave it a try anyway for the readalongs and just could not follow thru with it LOL i know tons of people love it tho so idk. same for they both die at the end. i feel so meh about it. it's my first and only adam silvera book too and i don't think i'll read the others bc i'm not a fan of his writing style. i am curious about matt haig's the human though so i might give it a try but have low expectations for it lol
Honestly they both die at the End is one of my favourite books, but that's probably pretty personal as well. I really enjoyed 'More Happy Than Not' by Adam Silvera.
I loooove the way you talked!!!! glad that I searched "SEVEN husbands..." on RUclips!
I didn’t love They Both Die at the End until I finished it
I've never sobbed as hard as I did when I read The 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
YEEESSSSSS LOVE your thoughts on "They Both Die At The End". IT JUST DOESN'T WORK! and omgomgomg those quotes. I'm dying.
glad im not the only one who didnt like the book!!
I appreciate your thoughtful and critical reviews. But also yes to the Evelyn Hugo energy chart 😂
it's true!! evelyn hugo is a nuanced queen
You are...HILARIOUS! I've been on the fence about reading the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo but I just might pick it up this month. Great video as usual!
yea the book is great!! would def recommend
7:27 I was thinking of Marilyn Monroe, but then I remember you say none white and I noticed you meant yourself.
I loved they both die at the endddddddd. Adam silvers is great. Infinity son though. Well. That never existed you can’t change my mind
I bet if Mateo and Rufus had more time to get to know each other, they might fall in love or something."
So as the romance got more obvious bit by bit, I started to piece it all together.
P.S. Definitely going to check out The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo!
ahhh when you were saying you had some unpopular opinions at the beginning of the video I was so afraid that you hated Evelyn Hugo smh I should have known i could trust you
i would never do my girl evelyn dirty like that!!
The cover for "Things I have learned in my life so far" has left me a hot itchy mess 😭
Also Evelyn Hugo is DAT BITCH, MY SPIRIT ANIMAL, MY KWEEN!!
HAHA YESSS im glad im not the only one!! the writing style just aint for me
As someone who also does not have a book type this was a really great video and I’m so happy I found your channel
I love that! What a cool idea. And omg she has been through the most shit!
"u know what, you bitches were right" WHY DID I LAUGH SJJSKSKS
Nothing personal and I don’t know why but my heart sunk when I heard how much you didn’t like tbdite 😢
I'm glad I searched for reviews and found yours. I'm struggling with the first few pages and not sure if I'll enjoy it. Ok, I'll push on!
"he's old as balls" I am dying!!
👴👴👴
Aw, please try again with Strange the dreamer! Push through the beginning and I know you'll love it! It's really amazing 💕
MAAAAYBE...
I love the pamphlet concept, so pretty!
yea the pamphlet concept is awesome!! i think it could be pulled off for like fiction books too if they did anthologies!
Oh no, I loved Strange the Dreamer. It took me a bit to understand the writing as I found it a bit lyrical for my taste. I really loved the book.
It's years later but I just finished Evelyn Hugo and I have so many feelings. Celia was bae til the end omg
I haven’t even read “They both die in the end” and yet I was surprised you didn’t like it coz my Instagram was filled with people crying over this book.
I FEEL SO SEEN WITH STRANGE THE DREAMER OH MY GOD CINDY YES
Congrats on 4K. I am glad to hear you liked Evelyn Hugo she was a total boss in the book!
evelyn hugo is a damn QUEEN
OH MY GOD I thought I was the only one who wasn't a fan of Strange the Dreamer's writing. It's too flowery for my taste :/
i usually like writing styles that use a lot of metaphors and similes but this one was def too flowery for me lol
It's poetic.. lots of metaphors and similes and artistic comparisons.. it's difficult but worth it lol
Loved the 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Hated They Both Die at the End it was almost a DNF for me
my friends usually tell me that i don't like what's trending, so: i gave the 7 husbands of evelyn hugo 2 stars
yes, i had my reasons for it, but i guess the main reason is that i did not sympathize with any of the characters at all
LITERALLY ONE OF MY FAVOURITE BOOKTUBERS!!!!!!! YOUR JOKES GOT ME DEAD.
thank u sharman!!
1000% agree with books have to be good all the way through, I find it impossible to "stick it out"
i feel that way about books, tv shows, movies etc! it needs to be good FROM THE BEGINNING and all the way through, you cant just rely on your audience to stick it out.
i love that i started this video at the start of my sept. wrapup exporting and finished it just as the export was done. a m a z i n g.
is it weird that i haven't picked up the loneliest girl in the universe bc i've been lowkey scared of it? not just "oh i wonder if i'll like it", but like legit scared? the title is too relatable maybe LOL that evelyn hugo love tho!!! i really need to read the damn thing already!! i love a good well-rounded character :') dude when you started lifting the pamphlets i gasped and went "SHUT UP, NO WAY" and on screen you immediately went "mm-HMM" and it was so eerie and fitting 😂 oooh you're the second person i've seen who wasn't into StD (wow what an unfortunate acronym) and i'm super on the fence about reading it. on one hand, i have almost no patience. but on the other hand, it took me a long time to get into the raven boys and that turned out great. maybe i'll listen to the audiobook so i don't have to agonize over how long the book is? FDKFJLDGJ omg so! i had a feeling you weren't gonna like TBDATE but oh my GOD am i here for this!!! especially the quotes bc my bf was doing the same thing while he was reading it!! 😂 i'm almost certain i have one or two of them written down somewhere too! also! if you made alignment charts for every series (or super popular book) you read, i'd watch tf out of them. you srsly got me making them for everything i do, bookish or not
ALSO CONGRATS ON 4K!!! 💗
yours are like finally releasing tension after a really hard day :’) i hope lots of young queer boys can have wholesome experiences reading it at least!! also YES THAT’S WHAT I NEED, assert that bisexuality evelyn!! 😩
Listen, BAYBYYYY, I hollered when you hit with that "She a thick girl," regarding "Strange the Dreamer." I'm a big guhl, and I was just hella tickled. My day is made. 😂🤣😍
ahhh love you
@@withcindy and I love YOU! 🥰
I got into The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo bc of the wlw themes and stayed for Harry Cameron because god.... I love him so much
I just started The Loniest Girl in the Universe last night. The audio narration is really good so far. And The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was one of my favorite books this year. Loving your recommendations.
Agree with everything you said about the Evelyn Hugo book and that transition.
... as you can see I comment as I watch, so multiple comments. Checking out the playist, thats really cool.
OMG I hated Don!!!
and OMG I am an artist and Ive never heard of this author or this design book but I love the concept.
let me know what you think about the twist of the loneliest girl in the universe! and omg the 4 friends in evelyn hugo were SQUAD GOALS i wish they could just get together and beat the shit out of don adler. ooh that's awesome that you're an artist, you might enjoy stefan sagmeister's book then! his cover concept was really cool
I've been watching you for awhile now and I just realized... you remind me of Awkwafina so much in a way
“I JUST DON’T WANT HIM TO HEAR ME AND FIND OUT I’M A FUCKING LOSER” BITCH ME 👌🏼😂😅
IT IS A VALID CONCERN OK
damn I need to get my hands on Evelyn Hugo. great video Cindy!
yaaas evelyn hugo is queen
That photo of you and Bey...I STAN!! Also I can't wait to read Evelyn Hugo!!
omg i would love to see your reading vlog of evelyn hugo so i can watch you be SHOOK
The moment you said "unpopular opinions" I grabbed my popcorn cos whoooooo imma excited
i cant lie and pretend i liked a book, it would never be believable enough lol
the way the talked, inspire me so much, you such so cool and sound like a savage smart independent woman. this may sounded dumb but please do a video how to talk like you, or random fact about you, maybe tell us the word you used a lot, that would help, this is my first time seeing you video and im so drawn and inspire by you.
All the characters were so real and raw,, you can see and feel why evelyn makes her choices and decisions
THANK YOU!!! STRANGE THE DREAMER ISN'T THAT GOOD! GOD SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT
