    How does the USB-C connection hold up when in motion? With the port being on the right side, lefties may want to use a right angle USB C connector. Beyond that, I'm absolutely stoked for this!

    Please do a video teaching how to set as a normal electric guitar. Like Red Lights Stray Kids for example. There's a lot of good arranges.

    Very cool, this opens up so many new playing styles and functions for bassists. So, if I understand correctly, a new midi note ON is sent when the instrument starts recognizing both pad and string are being touched, and a midi note OFF is sent when the instrument starts recognizing both the pad and string are released? How does that work with open strings?
    And when you only start touching a string without touching the pad, no midi message is sent?
    Cheers!

    • @misadigital
      @misadigital  Год назад

      Yes that is correct. None of the Misa products have supported open strings, but you can "hold" notes so they continue to play when you are not touching the neck.

    Hmm with the way the channels seem to work I'm starting to feel like future models are gonna need a few more "strings" at some point
    Also I really hope there's gonna be some possible channel separation for the pad as well that'd be pretty insane.
    Anyways, any price or ETA on when it's gonna be available?
    I'd say "can't wait" but that'd seriously undercut the amount of "can't wait" I have inside of me

      So being able to control multiple channels on the pad is possible through Ableton. I'll release a video soon to show how that is done. Ps. There's now a waiting list box on the website.

    I almost exclusively use the Shreddage 3 virtual guitars, so I'm so curious to see how the misa would work w that

      It could work, I haven’t tried! I do want to emphasize that the strengths of the Triwave are seen mostly when connected to synthesizers. They aren’t great for replacing traditional guitar.

      @@misadigital This is kind of why I think it's best to stop calling this type of instrument a "digital guitar" and find another term. The way something is talked about influences how people think about it, especially if it's a new thing and the associations with guitars just doesn't help make the right connections there.
      It's not a guitar, it's not trying to be similar to a guitar, it's something entirely separate, a completely new type of instrument/controller that hasn't properly been explored before. The only way in which it is any similar to a guitar is in terms of the ergonomics of holding and using it.
      Calling it a "digital guitar" doesn't catch the attention of people who are interested in synths, the people that pay attention to the word "guitar" quickly lose interest in it once they learn it does nothing guitar related and the only people that do stick with it would be people that happen to be interested in both synths and guitars which is a much, much smaller audience.
      It simply doesn't speak to the right people.
      That's why I think it really needs a rebrand away from guitar. In an earlier video I suggested "Synthboard" or "Padboard" but since that I caught myself repeatedly thinking about it as a "Synthpad". Just anything that gives somewhat of an idea about what this instrument is actually supposed to be used for.
      And preferably one that doesn't really exist already as a term to describe an instrument, I can see an entirely new term make people curious about what it is supposed to be.
      Sorry for that essay, I just really, like *really* want this type of instrument to be successful and I'm convinced calling it a guitar in any way only hurts it. New as it is it needs to find an audience and it just can't really do that if you're looking at the wrong venue.

      @@misadigital To be fair I do see the merit in calling it a "digital guitar". It did describe the original Kitara pretty well and It provides an opportunity for people interested in guitars and, well, digital guitar-like variants to stumble on ot on accident. iirc that might be how I found out about misa.
      But I can't see it work out long term with the current design principles.

      @@StaticR FWIW, I call it a Misa Triwave - the "digital guitar" term just provides some familiarity to people that haven't seen the instrument before. You're right, it's confusing :) I always hesitate before saying digital guitar for exactly the reasons you state. Whether people decide to call this style of instrument something else like a synthpad ultimately depends on whether this instrument is popular enough to be given a second name like that.

    • @StaticR
      @StaticR Год назад +1

      @@misadigital Intentional or not you've already given it a second name (well, a category name to be precise). Since it's written on the website, "digital guitar" is going to be what people and especially media outlets will default to so it'd be much more difficult for something else to catch on.
      I'm probably overthinking it and getting way ahead of myself I just really want this thing to take off enough to carve out a niche as a new type of synth controller because keyboards kinda suck.
      Anyways I'll shut up about it, thank you a ton!

    Kinda curious, is there a practical reason why each "string" is limited to one note/channel or is it a hardware limitation?
    For real guitars it's a direct result of how the physics work out to produce sound but with the triwave being entirely digital it's kind of unnecessary and arbitrary so I don't really see it making any sort of practical sense.

    • @misadigital
      @misadigital  Год назад

      It’s not a hardware limitation. But several guitar techniques, like sliding and hammer-ons, sound best through a monophonic synthesizer as the video shows since note transitions can glide. If the string is polyphonic, then every time a note is pressed, the amplitude and filter envelopes reset, giving you that stuttering sound. By keeping the string monophonic, then the only way to be polyphonic is to have separate monophonic synths per string. The benefit being you get the nice glide on each string. And you can slide chords as well.

    • @StaticR
      @StaticR Год назад

      @@misadigital Oh yeah, honestly kinda emberassing I just forgot about these things here given I play both guitar and bass myself lol
      still think there'd be some use for that for polyphonic centric things but that's just one possible use case out of many.
      Now I am kinda wondering since there's both a monophonic and a polyphonic mode, and maybe possibly some other ones(?) how quickly is it possible to switch between them mid play?

      @@StaticR You just tap 5 fingers on the pad to load the next config. There are 3 configs and these can be changed using PC software. The configs include things like midi channel per string, tuning, etc.
