There’s always something so cool and even oddly satisfying about watching these nature videos in the comfort of your own home. It’s so cool to admire these beautiful creatures from a distance. Thank you deep look for showing off these animals for us!
Am I the only one who actually enjoys these little guys? I love catching them on my finger and watching them inch along before I let them climb back onto a tree. They're kind of adorable to me. I'm glad to know that a tree is the right place to put them back.
Indeed, it *would* be great to watch them trransform into butterflies, instead of the other.... especially where I grew up, surrounded by oak trees, but alas... never saw a real butterfly in my life until I was 30. Only these horrid oak moths and gypsy moths..

I can't speak for anywhere else in California, but in my neck of the woods, the oak moth population EXPLODED last summer. Seriously, moths everywhere you look. I even got landed on a couple of times! It's really fascinating how they'll be everywhere for a month and then all but disappear.
I'm not really an expert in bugs but like.. do you mean hang them with nails to a wall and hold them like paintings (no offence if this seems overexagurated i just like going deep into detail)
@@isthatsuba kinda like that? search around more about insect preservation, its a fun hobby and you can actually learn new things about insects in that way. plus, i've seen a video about how amateurs tend to find and classify new species more frequently than biologists ;3
Though they may hurt the acorn production slightly, the oak actually tends to be stronger after having its leaves eaten. It wakes it up and keeps it on its toes.
I remember as a kid I would find these fellas hanging from the trees on their silk. I was always fond of them and I'd pick them up and help them to the ground haha.
Went camping once during these caterpillars' rappelling stage... the air was crammed with thread. It was like walking through spider webs constantly for 2 days. Talk about making your skin crawl! So interesting to find out more about them!
Love love love your videos! Especially since I’m a huge butterfly/moth geek. Actually in December when you posted about NOVA Science Studio, I bit the bullet and applied. Surprise, surprise, I was accepted! So basically, I have one more thing to thank you all for :)
Welcome to the NOVA Science Studio! Our colleagues at Deep Look would love to reach out to and help you with your project if they're able, and we're so excited to have you as part of the Sci Studio cohort. We promise it's going to be awesome :)
They remind me of those green caterpillars that were everywhere, one day I was taking an important exam and all of a sudden I spotted one on my shoulder, at least I kept my cool but I had to shake it off. Also I felt so bad for the cocooned caterpillar that was attacked by that wasp
Every time I’m out sitting on the grass I always see a little caterpillar 🐛 I bring it back to the tree 🌲 and it climbs away. Once a lill one wave back to me like “thank you hooman” and I give her a lill piece of cherry 🍒 and it she eat it. ☺️ remember if one of them falls over you or near just carefully out it back to near tree, believe this lill life will be very thankful.

Some of these guys look like they are having fun as they swing down.
