I love the eye candy as you call it. Of course my absolute favorite part of your collection is the Petrified Wood. The big burnt one is just amazing. What a story she has to tell! Out of all the many many hours of Rockhounding for Petrified wood that I have done I've only found one specimen about 5 inches long 2 inches thick that has this black burnt look. No Druzy, no crystalization, no crazy cool colors but just as amazing to me if not more. It's the only burnt piece I've ever found and I've found a lot. I'm thinking it's rare but not sure. You have a great selection and your husband did a great job polishing

Grape chalcedony but so many favorites it’s hard to name one. I was super thrilled when I saw that NM has an area to rock hound chalcedony but I think I want larger pieces than I saw in the video. Lol. I would love to explore in NM but I have so many rocks now that I have to be super picky on what I keep now. Downsized from a 3 bedroom to a 2 bedroom and it was tough letting go of my rocks. Well I have a huge box that I haven’t let go yet but that’s the plan. Baby steps.

I just moved and had to give up about 1/3 of my rocks. It wasn’t easy to get rid of them!
One of my rockhounding the Jemez videos I show a very large seam agate that I found, and saw much more out there that was impractical to harvest! Just depends on where you go, it’s pretty fun hounding!

I totally love your petrified wood collection!!! Some of my favorites in my collection is the pet wood you gave me! My favorite rocks in general are Montana agates. I also love Lake Superior agates. Huge fan of malachite and citrine quartz too. I'm also partial to the silicified coral I find out here and the cherty/chalcedony stuff that looks like it formed from fossilized remains. I sent you some. You got some really pretty tourmaline too! Always loved schorl....I have some but not watermelon tourmaline which is pretty gorgeous too. Besides watermelon tourmaline if there's one thing I'd like to add to my collection is sunstone with some Schiller effect of some type....oooo and some rainbow obsidian! Hahaha, and you know I'd reallllllly like a Tully monster fossil 😉 I grew up in the famous Mazon Creek area and are supposed to be found there along with some awesome trilobites. I've collected tons of wonderful fern fossils from there. I have one that I'm gonna break open soon in an upcoming video....hopefully something cool in there. I think you need to rent a store front. Set up your rocks and charge a small admission and people can see your fantastic collection and hear some of your stories and learn a bit about geology to boot! Keep posting them stellar videos and I CANT WAIT FOR IDAHO ONES! Rock on, Nira 🤘😁

You’re like me Shawn, so many favorites! I’m with you on Montana and Lake Superior agates, they’re amazing! Anything silicified is generally a good find too, always get a good polish if you want. I ALSO can’t wait for more Idaho rockhounding, c’mon snow, melt already! I do have one video in the works that’s both Idaho and Washington but it’s not rockhounding, it’s a geology tour of some of the glacial lake Missoula/ice age floods features in the area. Ran into some issues with sound though so not sure when I’ll get it done, if ever. I wanna go hunt for Columbia River agates though! Maybe soon.
Can’t wait to see your fern fossil reveal, hopefully it’s awesome!

Was so excited to see you had the new video out! I just love the petrified wood collection. You have some beautiful pieces. That is my favorite thing to collect. There’s nothing better than picking up something that lived many thousands or millions of years ago. I can gaze at it all day and just wonder what the world was like back then. I collect most of mine in Minnesota where I live and out in South Dakota. Have a few bought pieces from Arizona. Hoping to make a Wyoming and Montana trip this summer to hopefully find more. Arizona is on the list to hit as well. I really enjoy your videos and hope to see more soon. Thanks for sharing your collections and knowledge! As a geologist do you have any recommendations on books for learning about rocks, minerals, and fossils. I’m trying to learn about the processes that create these things and it is so hard to find good sources on the internet, and as far as books I wouldn’t even know where to start. Thanks!

@@RuthieH_62 Cool, thanks for the info. Most of my hounding in NH was North of Franconia Notch. I also asked our wonderful host here to help ID a rock I sent to someone that I found in NH. She nailed it off my basic description, I'm quite impressed. This is the same link to the video if you want to see a piece of cool North Country stuff. ruclips.net/video/RR6fTmIrqh8/видео.html It's from the town of Sugar Hill on Ore Hill. Lots of that land was open and there's fun stuff up there if you ever head North to hound. If you ever see the guide books talk about the staurolite at Perch Pond in Lisbon right near there, don't bother. Somebody bought the land and built a house there. I asked permission to hunt but they'd had too many people already and said no. Can't say as I blame them. The pyrite locality in Lyman that is in the old books is tapped out where it's accessible, and the rest of the area is private property.

Could I post a link here for you to look at it and maybe give it an ID? I don't want to advertise someone else's channel without permission, seems rude. FYI, it's little, tiny metallic looking crystals in a schist, octahedral with a concentric triangle growth pattern, uneven fracture with what I think would be called a submetallic luster. I got the best look I ever had at it when he put it under a viewing scope in the video.
