Omg, you're misunderstanding and confusing between Genres and Roles. In Hollywood, from 50's, Disney started note a genre for its animation pictures which participated as female lead role. It is called ' Disney's Princesses '.

The Merida and Pocahontas ones were the best ones, I can't really see how the Ariel one is naturally resembling, it's just make-up, lenses and clothing, which anyone could do honestly.
