i’m so happy you picked up the raven boys! i definitely recommend continuing the series, like you said you just become even more attached to the characters as it goes on and the plot starts making (a bit) more sense lol. it’s one of my favourite series ever and the found family and hints of romance you get throughout are unmatched 💓
I enjoyed reading Bride. Had never read a paranormal romance until the book and honestly I enjoyed it more than I expected. Was a 4 star for me personally

@@RachelCatherine Also I've just got to the end of the video and I do have to agree that it was likely the mystery aspect that made it more enjoyable. If I was to fully think about the book though it could end up going down to a 3.75
If you enjoyed the paranormal romance aspect, I recommend A Discovery of Witches!
omg i have the same issue while sleeping. these days i’ve been watching yt videos while falling asleep in the background and i wakeup and rewatch the same one while getting ready for the day cause i remember nothing from the night before lol. i usually all of you book girlies vlogs

i also gave bride a 3.5… i was so interested at the beginning but i feel like it fell flat towards the middle. also the second book in the stalking jack the ripper series was my fav so have fun with that!!

I recommend reading The Little Prince, beautiful little book.
I totally do the same thing when reading befit bead. Read before bead until the lines blur and I can not tell the difference between the lines. I also struggle falling asleep. 💤 totally have the racing thoughts protect

With the raven boys the strength is for sure with the characters vs the plot. You get so attached to them as the series goes on so would deffo recommend continuing ❤️❤️
I loved The Wishing Game! It’s so cozy I just got the ARC for her newest novel released in July- it’s supposed to give The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe in Narnia

No they are a ya love story but the love story is the background to this girl in that time period wanting to be a surgeon but not being able to have an education so she has to pretend to be a boy and when that fails she practices on dead bodies.
In Stalking Jack the Ripper, I think she wants to be someone who does autopsies? So like a pathologist/ mortician?

I really enjoyed the Raven Boys and when I start Dream Thieves I thought I would be so in to it and ended up DNF it 40% of the way through and was so disappointed

Bride needed dual POV. we needed to know what he was going through with his pack and the bond.

Yes!!
It is! but Jack the ripper case was never resolved so the book has the real events of the original case but with an ending that make sense with the characters. Its also a little of romance in It, for me the romance was the BEST!
Jack the ripper was a real killer. But the book she read in this vlog is fictional

So I'm a fantasy reader first and foremost and I enjoy the occasional romance. Now, I actually love Ali Hazelwood books, they're light and fun. That being said, I absolutely did not like Bride 🙃 I gave it two stars. It was boring at best, and had some laughable moments (in a bad way). I didn't like the characters, the plot was all surface level, because while it explained the political unrest, it failed to have any more detail than that they just don't like each other, which fine I guess. There was no world building, but I guess that's uneeded since it's urban fantasy, but at the same time there's nothing that goes into the vampires, humans, and werewolves existing together more than the fact that they just do. I actually started skimming towards the end because i knew if I let it go another day I probably would have DNF'd it (and I don't love to DNF, it's very rare)
Now, for the plot, I get it's a paranormal romance, so it's not heavy with fantasy but I feel like she relied on it being a mystery too much. And I'm not much for mystery/thriller books in general, so obviously that didn't make me dislike it any less. But it just felt like a cop out to me. Like she was unsure how to have the plot be for a fantasy, so she just made it a mystery instead. So idk, that might be harsh of me.
And then for the spice aspect of it, I'm don't need nor do I focus on spice in books, but even I could not ignore how WEIRD it was. Like otherworldly creatures or not, that is just weird.
