    I bought a 2001 Royal star boulevard in Midnight for $1400. It needed tires due to age, and a carb rebuild and a TPS. Now it runs great and is a blast to ride. Bought it with 2468 miles, it now has about 2700. Very happy. Still more work, but icing on the cake now. Good luck with yours.

    Niiicce bike.. great score .. worst thing you can do for any engine is fire up & sit at idle straight off.. oil pressure need to be brought up as quick as possible then it can let sit idle.. nearly got a 👎 there're so many fake "barn finds".. treat the small chrome & Ali corrosion pits with a weak phosphoric acid wipe with a tooth brush.. then keep chrome with a good wash n wax auto shampoo.. Turtle 👍 .. clutch issue just be dragging with sitting & that clutch fluid will defo be a factor, as could fresh oil.. had a Z1r needed clean oil to stop clutch drag at idle & impossible neutral.. like your style & channel cheers 🇳🇿🇳🇿nz

    $1300 for this?
    A good cleanup, an external battery... She starts. And rides.
    I'd say that's an incredibly good deal! Well I don't know what the market looks like in your country but one in working order and similar mileage (which is nothing for this kind of engine...) here in France is going to cost me around $5k...

      My research shows I could get at minimum 3500. I saw one a week ago with 20k more miles in Ohio for 5100 so I could definitely ask for close to that.

      I’m actually looking to trade my car for this exact bike except it has 23k miles . Do you think I should do it ? All I’m trading is sum 2005 Cadilac Deville with hella miles. Y’all think it’s worth it ?

    • @thorthundertrucking3660
      @thorthundertrucking3660  Год назад

      @@HennesyTrevino if I had another car and that Cadillac, I'd definitely trade. I mean, I had an 03 DeVille and that Northstar was a fast engine, but I'd have traded it for this bike. Much easier to do maintenance. Better on gas, more fun, not as safe in the inner city though.
      Weigh your pros and cons.

      I was holding my breath praying it would crank that first time . I have a 2006 Tour Deluxe model in pearl white . She had 65K for mileage when I bought her . That was about 18 months ago . I paid $3000 because the previous owner had taken very good care of her . I hope you get many , many years enjoyment from yours .

      So you went ahead and got it. Nice. It's a great bike and very easy to work on. I need to post my led headlight update. I had to lose the shades that go on the lights but man I can see amazingly well at night. I've got to get some LED's for the rear now and a new air filter and that should do it for now

      @@Co8a some LEDs are legal. They are supposed to be labeled with DOT somewhere on them but there are manufacturers that will just put that on there and claim they are legal. I've never been stopped for headlights, but I haven't driven it at night

      @@Co8a is who better? Is the bike better than a Harley-Davidson? That would be a matter of opinion. Older Harleys without a radiator cannot idle in hot weather for extended periods, this one can. Parts are less expensive. I prefer metric bikes(non Harley), but I'm not interested in winning a popularity contest. I'm interested in Miles of smiles. And less time in the shop

    You should check your oil level in the sight glass while the bike is level. Place a 2X4 piece of wood under the kickstand to get the bike as level as possible and check it then.

    • @thorthundertrucking3660
      @thorthundertrucking3660  2 года назад +1

      I kept checking that stupid sight glass and nothing changed. I added a little bit more oil and it fixed the problem and it still looks pretty much the same. Guess I was a tad off. Thanks

    • @thorthundertrucking3660
      @thorthundertrucking3660  Год назад

      For a royal star? No way it's worth that much. Motorcycles are currently out of season and that's the best time to buy. Personally I wouldn't go over 4k for mint. For 9k I'd get a Vulcan voyager. Better fuel mileage, larger tank, abs brakes(for one at that price), etc.
      And it's an older bike.

      The reason I want one of those is because of the trunk and the gas tank size. Better for traveling. If you decide to get one of those try to make sure it's been "ivanized". The throttle cable is computerized and that program gives it better response
