      Well, almost 15% of the video shows how to plug in the wall wart and charge the battery. Combined with the price tag, I'm assuming this appeals to a certain brain-dead clientelle.

    Cool tool. Would pay no more than $300 for it. The around $2k number is the most ridiculous thing I’ve seen.

      LOL you have no clue what professional tools cost, man. The manual ferrule crimpers from them are around $200. And that’s just the crimper. An automatic stripper is another $150.
      You wanna see expensive? Look at the equipment to strip really small (under 3mm total diameter, down to around 1mm) coaxial cable. My work has one of those machines and it’s around $20,000.

      Agree it is just way overpriced. Granted if you have zero competition - you can basically ask for whatever you want. But this is just madness - production cost of this device is probably less than 100$ .. maybe even less than 50$ or 20$ if they are as smart in manufacturing as in engineering. In this case (20$) a margin of above 10.000% is just evil. I think a lot more people would buy and enjoy this product but they artificially keep the customer base small. Until the Chinese come in, copy and sell for 5$ a piece. Just dumb in the long run ... imo.

      @@pWAVE86 There is no way in hell the production cost is under $100, never mind $20. It’s made in Germany, not China. $100 is only 2 or 3 hours of labor and overhead, and that thing has precision-machined mechanical parts, plus electronics, so it’s going to be way more than 2 hours of labor to make it and its parts. Remember, these things are UL certified, in that if you crimp their ferrules with their crimper per the instructions, the finished crimp is UL certified. But this also means that manufacturing tolerances must be tight, so this isn’t some cheap tool. And since it’s electric - and thus intended for higher volume than a manual unit - it has to be designed to maintain those tight tolerances for longer without wearing out. That costs money.
      The Chinese can’t even sell _manual_ ratcheting ferrule crimpers for $5, so they aren’t gonna be able to do an electric one for that. The battery alone is worth more than $5. I would expect them to be able to do it for $200, though, albeit with unknown quality. Chinese crimpers in general do not impress with their build quality.
      (Besides, just because the list price is $2k doesn’t mean they expect customers to actually pay that much. I finally got the Phoenix Contact purchasing account set up at work, and the prices it shows me already are already a bit lower for tools, but the rep said to inquire with him for tools because he can quote much bigger discounts manually. That’s how a lot of commercial stuff works: astronomical list prices, then aggressive discounts to stop you from buying from the competition. The oscilloscope we bought at work at the end of last year got a 60% discount off list, and it’s a very recent model, not old stuff on clearance!)

    • @pWAVE86
      @pWAVE86 8 месяцев назад

      Do not underestimate the chinese production quality these days … do not get confused with the „cheap consumer crap“ that is thrown around with stacking discounts on some of the big name platforms. China is able to produce high quality with competitive prices as well - if they want and if you look at the right manufacturers. Not by accident that the german auto brands are mainly made in china these days and merely assembled in europe .. at best.
      I have no idea what there production cost is .. but for sure higher if 100% in Germany. But CNC and machined parts are not as expansive these days anymore either.
      At the end of the day this is no witchcraft / rocket science product. Compare for example with recent apple vision pro .. the amount of tech, materials, fabric etc in a low run volume product with similar price point of 2-3k.
      It is just insane. Price-wise. If companies get fat discounts thats nice … but does not help the consumer / hobbiest that has to wait for the mentioned competition to come in and bring price back to „normal“ levels…

      @tookitogo 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@pWAVE86 Of course the Chinese _can_ make top quality products, but not at the prices you’re imagining, which are thoroughly unrealistic.

    OK looks cool but way too expensive.
    Also it only appears to do 1 size of crimp? as its printed on the side with 1.5 - can it do other sizes and if so - does it say the size when you put them in?

      Indeed it´s a great tool to optimize your work. The time saving with the CRIMPHANDY is up to 70% and this leads to a quick amortization.
      It is equipped with one fixed cross-section and cannot be changed. The inductive sensor detects whether you have entered the correct cross-section for process-safe work.
