Il be staying right near that blue building 1:14 with views over the bay, thanks for this! I never knew catalan bay had so many lanes and alleyways to explore
Very nice🙂 Yes, it’s an interesting place to stay and wonder around.
@JannaTravels many thanks!
I stayed at the then Caleta Palace in November 1982 and we had a hot sunny week.Shame hotel demolished 13:35
It was a beautiful village back then we have stayed at the Caleta hotel on three occasions and loved every minute remember the piano and phone box well , so sad 😢
I agree completely about the Caleta, a tragedy it is no more.
At 23:12 as you walked down the steps by the Caleta Hotel... back in 1985 there were no buildings on the left at all... just an open grassy/bushy area with a small playground there. The car park at the left of the beach was not there either, just more beach and a lido like area. Plus, the infilled area between the large rock and the Caleta Hotel was open back then, but from what I can understand (and once having seen first hand), there were several incidents with injuries in that area, hence the filling in. In the early 2000's my mother and stepfather lived in one of the new builds overlooking the bay. Great memories come flooding back from 1985, thank you for the video :)
You are very welcome, Niki! Thank you for the comment! 🙂
Thanks for this excellent video tour.
I was particularly thrilled to see so many views of the Caleta Hotel which I am pleased to say "I stayed there!"
I'm still searching RUclips for more videos of the Caleta.
I do think the whole bay area has been overdeveloped but there you go.
I noticed the Seaview restaurant is still there.
Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you 😀
The village is beautiful Janna!
what a wonderful looking area and you capture it so well ty for always sharing with us ❤❤
Thank you!
Nice video; many thanks. It brought back many memories of "Little Genoa". We stayed at La Caleta Hotel the first time we visited Gibraltar. It was a beautiful hotel and I hope what they build in its place fits in with its surroundings, and is not some big, hotel chain monstrosity.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
I heard the cat on the steps @ 2:40 clearly said "Get outta her ladt. You don't have any food. . . Cool church @ 5:30- 6:00 but I'm not sure I'd like to be sleeping during daily morning mass or sunday services in they near by appartments. . . Nice alleys to walk. Also nice looking beach (private?). . . Super nice homes after the beach view. . . Great video Janna! keep 'em coming.
I always love watching anything about British Gibraltar. How I wish to see it as an independent country in the future within the British Commonwealth. It is so pleasurable seeing Gibraltar expand its territory by reclamation from the sea. More power to British Gibraltar!
Hello! Glad you liked it 🙂 All beaches in Gib are not private, I only heard that some people have their favorite spots on the beach for years, and they do not like if anyone will take they place 😆 the locals usually know which is which, here they like to bring tables and chairs and spend all day on the beach eating!
Can imagine getting disoriented after dark and getting lost in those alleyways, LOL. Enjoyed your tour, it was fun.
You will not get lost there it is not very big and all routs lead to the beach 🙂
That’s my restrant and my black cat blacky
😀
Thank you
You're welcome!
Te quedo bonito el vídeo cercas del mar yo nunca he ido al mar.
Love the electric wires across the steps...
Long walk to the LADIES (4:47) - then when you get there all you see is a man on a building site...!
I thought (7:07) was beautiful...
But HELP i got lost half way through the walk... !
Bet you were exhausted after the walk...
Thank you very much Janna - really enjoyed the walk...
Hi, glad you liked the walk 🙂 It is a bit confusing there, yes, but can not get lost the village is too small. I will definitely get lost walking the upper old town 😄

What will be the tall building that is under construction (on 24:54 of the video)?
It is a new estate Hassans terraces, affordable accommodation program, there will be 6 towers.

Hi Tony, no, I'm fine, just some quiet walk this time, so people can enjoy the environment and listen the voice of the sea 😉
