I love these filters. I'd suggest a bit smaller / narrower air stone, and place it above the holes you drilled in the tube. I saw the air bubbles popping behind the filter when you turned it on, which indicates air is exiting the tube behind the filter. All the air should be flowing out the pipe into the main aquarium, which will drag more water with it and give you a better flow. With the stone below the holes you drilled, and the stone almost fully filling the diameter of the tube, some of the air is likely exiting the bottom of the tube due to the tight fit, and/or coming out of the holes you drilled, which will lower your lift efficiency quite a bit.
@@AquaticJournal I just made 1 for a 110 gal stock tank which was a little bit a challenge but it CAN be done, it just takes a little thinking of how to make it work for goldfish.
Love this style filter. Nicely done!

Dark Jester we now don’t use the air stone at all. I still a couple small holes in the bottom and then run an airline to the top of the holes.
@@AquaticJournal Cool, yep that works too. :)
@@AquaticJournalThat's a Thank you Jester and appreciate you watching ❕
Are you using a Central Air system or many air pumps in your room
I do mine with a power head so it has a good current not a trickle
I use a power head pump with mine & it does a lot better job
than a air pump unless it's 1 that's rated for a 100 gph.
Yep I've done this too! I have a few mods I've done in the past I should do an updated video on this!

How often do you clean the filter? Do. you just rinse it off?
todd636 I haven’t cleaned it yet and it works just fine! When I do I will just put it in a bucket or tank water and squeeze it out!
Nice information
CICHLIDS TANK Thank you!

Does not look like much water passes?
That is because it isnt made correctly. The holes drilled in the uplift are totally pointless and stop it working as it should.
This was because his pipe was too narrow for the air stone. He confirmed in another comment:)
