Fantastic!!!! Clear explanation of how to use the text box to add people to a layer and to create additional layers. Great tip on changing the orientation to landscape to fit more people on the chart. Also like the idea of color coding families. Have watched a number of other videos which didn't explain things well so I resorted to making a hand-drawn chart (which wasn't a good solution). Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
a-maz-ing. It took soooo long to find this... soooooo grateful. I have gone back 24 generations and to find a template was impossible. Again thank you! thankyou! So Simple. Can't believe I couldn't work it out before hand.
Thank you for this, I wanted to create a family tree for my cousin who grew up in care and never felt like he belonged and it would upset him, I traced his family back for nearly 300 years and needed a way to present to him and you made it very simple for me to so so thank you very very much :)
Brilliant!! I've been struggling with how to publish an intelligible genetic proof of relationship. I may have a scaling problem because of the number of kids, but this offers a great start!
You're welcome. I hope it helps, even with a lot of children. You might try making the page size larger, particularly if you don't plan to print it out.
I'm really not sure. I think of Smart Art as a tool for simple, straight-forward diagrams. You'll probably need something else for a more complicated tree.
I was making hierarchy in smart art, but when I closed the word and later returned to it I could not add anything to it anymore, even the smart art design won,t show up. What is the problem?
Not sure why the Smart Art design wasn't showing up when you went back to it...maybe you didn't save the file after adding it? To update a Smart Art object, simply click on the part you want to change and type in the new text. You can also click the little arrows that show up on the left side of the object, and that will bring the whole list back up in case you want to change levels and such.
Last time I checked, children generally have two parents at least biologically. How do we draw chart that represents the familial relationships rather than just a single patriarchal or matriarchal line.
Not sure...this was specifically for a DNA matches. I've not played around with it for other scenarios, but I'm guessing there is something in the multitude of configurations that would probably work. But do keep in mind this was a simple and quick chart...not intended to be anything fancy :)
Hi Tara! They auto-resize to fit and remain uniform. If you notice at the very beginning they are very big, but when I start adding for information, they resize and get smaller. Hope that helped answer your question.
It looks like you can copy and image and paste it in place of the text, but it will resize the image to fit the box, more than likely distorting it, so it's probably not a good idea.
The hierarchy charts are not designed to be family history charts. They are used primarily to develop company organizational charts, but can be adapted for quick genealogy charts to help visualize information. If there is a way to add a connected box to the side of another to put in a spouse, I haven't figured out how. So, if you want to add a spouse, you could simply type in both names in one box (e.g., John Smith & Mary Jones).

Hi, I'm trying to use smart art for a project right now. How would you indicate children with the same father and different mothers?
I'm really not sure. I think of Smart Art as a tool for simple, straight-forward diagrams. You'll probably need something else for a more complicated tree.
Great work ❤
Awesome..👌👏👏👍
Thank you.. it helped... :)

What if the hierarchy reaches end of the current page. I want to make sure that my hierarchy will not disturb when a new page started
Sorry, couldn't tell you as I don't make really big charts in Word using Smart Art. You'll just have to play around with it and see what happens.
@@JulieCahillTarr I'll play 🙃
great and nice
Very nice 👍 super present
How do you make all of the boxes the same size?

Can photos be inserted in this?

what about spouses.

How do you add a blank box next to "child one" being child ones wife? Please 🙌
*There doesn't seem to be a husband and wife??* 🤔
Blue pp
