I lucked out on an M95 long rifle at my local shop with a bayonet. I already had the M95/34 version with two bayonets. Enjoyable to shoot. I discovered Steinel Ammunition makes new ammo with reloadable brass. What is funny about my long rifle is that I actually bought it for the bayonet because someone on a gun forum was hunting desperately for an m95 bayonet with scabbard. Sold the bayonet and that money covered the cost of the long rifle purchase. 😂😂 Still have another bayonet for the m95 and another for the m95/34. Both like the Hornady, PPU, and Steinel stuff much better. Great video.

I bought a lot of milsurp bayonets in the late 1960s till the late 1980s.
I can’t believe some of the prices people are willing to pay for matching bayonets and sheaths.
It’s taken me decades to collect the dang rifles to go with the bayonets.

The cartridge is the 8x56R - the 'R' is important becasue there is another 8x56 round; the 8x56 Mannlicher Shonauer which is a completly diffrent rimless round.
ALL of the converted rifles are referred to as either 1895/30 or just M95/30 - the long rifle, and both of the short rifles. There's a carbine, and a Stutzen rifle. Many short rifles started life as full length rifles originally chambered in 8x50R, they were later converted to short rifles and re-chambered for the 8x56R round. The round was originally created for the Steyr-Solothurn light machine gun as the M30 round.

I owned 2 of those, and had a carbine knicknamed " buckin bronco " with that ammo. I had 50 boxes of it.... It was extremly accurate and loaded STOUT. In the long rifle it was much easier shooting. The bores were oversized at .330. Regular 8mm would keyhole in them. Hornady made is in a soft point loading with reloadable brass as well as PPU brand.its a veryyyyyy uderestimated caliber and rifle design... Great video sir.. Thsnks for sharing. Also...those sites were very cumbersome. My 2 rifles and my ammo went to a collector who still owns it. I bought the ammo when century international arms, ( CANADA ) for 3.95$ a box !!!! My carbine was 40$
My long rifke was 29.95$ i kid you not. Was in 1995. The last yr they were open...also a #4 lee enfield irish contract IN GREASE 229$ ...
I still have a #4 ...not the irish one
    Wonderful rifles.

The ammo and end block clips are nicely marked. Hard hitting loads.

Steinel Ammunition makes new ones. Also OldSouthAmmo. Steinel is a lot cheaper and reloadable.

That ammo is old and corrosive. Don't forget to wash out that chamber and barrel or else it will rust over night.
