    Great video! I agree with you, it’s not a matter of ‘rotating your wigs’… It’s not like they’re plants, or they will regenerate as they take a breather…. 🙃 Thanks so much for doing this video!!💖

    I have purchase way too many wigs and they are not inexpensive…..SO…..it is great to hear and see different ways to restore and revitalize wigs, I would love to be that person who can just throw them away but restoring them is actually fun to see how amazing we can make them look. Thank you Marlene for all that you share with us! All information is good information.

    Thank you, Marlene, for all your tips in this video. I am new to the scene but have been wearing RW Current Events daily for 10-12 hours each time over 2 months. Since she is a straight style, it has been easy to maintain her and I washed her twice, although I did not soak.... just gently swishing around and focused on the lace front. She is holding up well for all the wear she has gotten. I've ordered regular synthetic and cannot bring myself to keep them - way too shiny and I prefer the lovely colors on HD....they look way more realistic to me. As a new wig wearer, I do not find that HD fibers are hard to care for at all.

    I LOVE that you got the Columbia to last 3 years and still go strong, she looks amazing! And so does Unfiltered! I am a new wig wearer who has watched LOADS of reviews and instructional vids, and just refuse to wrap my head around the 6 months to a year life cycle. I mean, good wigs aren't cheap! I KNEW that I was going to find a way to make them last, and found your wonderful video. Thanks Marlene, much love from Julia in New Mexico.

    • @MarlenesWigChatStudio
      @MarlenesWigChatStudio  2 года назад +4

      Hi Julia, thank you for visiting. Please keep in mind that is didn't wear Columbia everyday for 9 hours/day, 7 days/week for 3 years. I had 3 other wigs which I used to rotate during my first year with Columbia. During the 2nd and 3rd year, I wore Columbia only once or twice per week. The conditions you wear your wig in, the products you use on it, the way you store it, the quality of the wig.... there are lots of variables that impact how long your particular wig will last. The wigs that will last the longest with daily wear and proper care and maintenance are Envy wigs that are human hair/synthetic blend (about 2 years) and Remy human hair wigs (about 3 years). WIgs with synthetic fibers (traditional or HD) that are worn daily for 8 hours/day will not last as long. I hope this helps. xo Marlene

    So happy to see you, I've missed you, Marlene. You give the best informations. I watched it straight through. I'm not good at styling my own hair, so I know I won't be good styling my wig. Even though I love soft curls, it makes me happy my wig is straight. I saved this in my "helpful information" playlist. Blessings, and love, my beautiful friend..MaryEllen

    • @MarlenesWigChatStudio

      Hi MaryEllen! I've been having my recording room repainted due to the dark colors. I also had company that stayed for a few days so now trying to get back into the swing of things. Since your wig is traditional synthetic and a bit on the longer side, all that's needed is to detangle after each wear same as I showed in the beginning of the video. Later on if you see the ends are not looking as nice, they can be steamed. Since you'd only be steaming the ends, you don't need a steamer as I have. Any inexpensive from Amazon will do or you may have a clothes steamer already. Lots of love, my beautiful friend. xoxo Marlene

    I enjoyed this. After you conditioned “Unfiltered”and left her overnight, I wouldn’t have rewashed her, but just soaked her in cool clear water so that the benefit of the conditioner would have stayed, keeping the ends in better shape. But since you trimmed it, Unfiltered looks fabulous.

    Thank you for this video. Especially showing an HD with waves you don’t want to damage. I was doing things wrong. Not sure why or how putting the wig in a bag works but my BT Lemonade may have been saved. I had tried the Bamboo conditioner in the past but would just leave it on, no bag and rinse with no wash after. My HD was greasy. I did it your way and such a difference. I had altered her with beachy waves. She feels soooooo soft and new!!!!

    Marlene, this is such a great video. I purchased my first two wigs (weren’t cheap) and my heart dropped a notch when I heard that I would have to purchase replacements in 3-6 months (Not me.) I don’t want to have a collection of rotating wigs and on a limited budget. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

    • @MarlenesWigChatStudio
      @MarlenesWigChatStudio  8 месяцев назад

      Hi Deb, thank you so much. With care, wigs can last much longer. If your wigs are heat friendly, it's important to apply heat and silicone to the ends to prevent them from getting dry and brittle. Regular synthetics can last longer. It's also important to always detangle at the end of each wear, don't wash too often, and apply minimal hairspray. xoxo Marlene

    Hello Marlene~ I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have made being newer to wigs so much better, to say the least. There are so many different wig channels, and so much information. A lot of it conflicting, it’s crazy. You have always responded to my comments which in and of itself is amazing, but your knowledge has been invaluable. I was so discouraged with the way my wigs were degrading so fast, I just couldn’t find the right anything that would work for me like the others who used various products.
    Firstly you are the first person who said you NEED to add heat to your heat friendly fibers once in awhile. I was so afraid to burn them I and I was terrible at it.
    I have 2 unfiltered wigs I rotate. Both were losing curl, dry and frizzy on the ends. I followed your bamboo silicone tutorial- tried using steam on it, as well as adding the simply stylin to the ends…oh my gawd!!! I finally have the confidence to do this it all worked beautifully!🥰
    Thank you so much😘 You often say,”I’m not a stylist,” but you do know how to care for your wigs beautifully.
    You’re the best, keep up the excellent work, and spreading the good words. Thank you.🙏🌸

    Even though they are multiple years old they haven’t been worn many hours. When you have no hair you wear your wigs 12 or more hours per day. I have silicon mix by the same company. I mix a generous amount into distilled water and spray it as a treatment spray when the wig gets old and crunchy. I also trim the ends. I’ll get the bamboo mix when I run out of the silicon mix. I’m considering a human hair wig next time. I just found out my health insurance pays back some of my purchase price of wigs for hair loss.

      Hi Jackie! Thank you so much for visiting! These wig stands that I use are relatively inexpensive; I believe they come 3 to a pack for around $15 perhaps less. If your wigs don't tangle much at the nape, you won't need the spray. Most of my wigs are pretty long and have HD fibers so they tend tangle a bit more than straight synthetics. Happy Wednesday, my friend! xoxo Marlene

    You are absolutely so so helpful to all of us, but I am a newbie and I love all your videos. It’s hard to believe that you’ve only been wearing wigs for 3 years! How did you start? I’m afraid to leave my house with my wig on because to me it looks like I’m wearing a wig and anyone who knows me will also know due to my thin thin bio hair!!!

    • @MarlenesWigChatStudio
      @MarlenesWigChatStudio  Год назад +1

      Hi Pam, thank you so much for visiting! I'm so happy my videos are helpful. I started wearing wigs when my stylist moved away and I couldn't find anyone that would achieve coloring my hair to the purple I always wore. A friend suggested I get a wig; that's when I fell in love with wigs and the ability to change my style and color depending on my mood. However, we are all different. My suggestion is to purchase a wig that is close in color and style to how you usually wear your own hair, then take baby steps. Wear it first around the house, admire yourself in the mirror, add a clip or headband to make it your own. Once you're comfortable wearing it around the house for a few days, wear it to the mailbox; a few day later, take a walk around the block. In a week or two, drive to another town where you won't run into people you know and go to the mall or grocery store. Little by little you'll become accustomed to wearing your wig. Not everyone will agree especially some family members, but give them time. They'll become accustomed to the "new you." If they don't, that's ok too. It's all about how you feel. I hope this helps. xoxo Marlene

      Hi Keri, heat friendly fibers need to have heat applied every 4 or 5 wears in order to prevent them from becoming dry and brittle. I use steam on my wavy wigs because I feel it's easier and I'm terrible at styling but a hot tool such as a flat iron or curling iron with a temperature at no more than 320 can be used as well. xoxo

    • @MarlenesWigChatStudio
      @MarlenesWigChatStudio  2 года назад +1

      Hi Eileen, thank you so much for stopping by! I have a video on how I wash my hand-tied, but basically, you just need to hold them under running water. Give them a shower instead of a bath as we do with the regular cap. Once they're wet, add the shampoo, massage, then rinse under running water. Repeat with the conditioner. I then wrap in a towel to eliminate the excess water then hang on the wig stand to dry. Just make sure there's airflow with the wig stand you're using. The reason for the shower is to avoid the knots in the hand-tied cap loosening. I hope this helps xoxo

      Hi, HD fibers need heat such as steam, flat iron or curling iron at no more than 350 degrees. I apply heat every 4 or 5 wears. If heat isn’t applied to the ends, they’ll get dry and frayed. I hope I answered your question. If not, please let me know. Xoxo

      @sewmanythings8616 3 года назад

      Thank you so much for replying😊 Yes you answered my question. But I have heard conflicting information about this. Some people say that the heat friendly fibers can tolerate heat but that the more often you use heat the faster the fibers break down and get frizzy looking. Anyway, I’m still not clear on it. I guess I’ll have to experiment and see what I find out.

      @MarlenesWigChatStudio  3 года назад +2

      Hi Faith, thank you so much for stopping by. I wash my wigs after close to 80 hours of wear since I rarely use any products and don't sweat; however, heat friendly wigs need heat in order to avoid them becoming frayed and dried out. Both Ellen Wille and Belle Tress recommend adding heat (steam, curling iron, or flat iron) after 4 wears. There's no need to wash, but the heat is necessary on the HD fibers. I hope this helps. xoxo Marlene

      Hi Keri, I really don't know if I have an answer for you. As you saw in the video, my RW Unfiltered is 2 years old and my Columbia is 3. I think the longevity really depends on the care and how many wigs we have in rotation. With that said, I feel Estetica wigs are work horses that last and look beautiful regardless of how much they are worn. If your heat friendly feel dry and scratchy, they probably need to have heat applied and either bamboo silicone treatment or silicone treatment such as Simply Stylin. These products help tremendously helping the fibers feel soft and silky. xoxo
