Forget all the "taller than Linus" jokes, the kid turned out to be much more handsome than his dad. I knew that genetic diversity thing was a good idea ;)
@kaisarantonn7225 sorry to hear that and I know you’re saying it like a joke but make sure your future kids will not have to go through the same thing (if you plan on having children in the future)
@darkdagon6you mean "mutually exclusive?" Because what you're saying is they can be separate and that's not what the quote was at all. Linus was saying it was a different matter entirely
His son was willing to hold off on any decisions, so he could get a chance to make a more thought out decision based on knowledge of the upcoming Xbox Ally X shows he understands the idea of holding out for a possible better solution instead of making a hasty one.
I love the fact you have all these handhelds on tap but you haven’t just “given” them to your son. Hes getting one as a birthday present. that’s brilliant parenting he will value it more
Exactly, wealthy people should be like this. PBD does this with his kids. Have them earn it and don't spoil them. It doesn't mean you won't be there when times get tough (which they will) but you don't develop the skills of independence and work ethic by being handed things constantly.
I did the same for my son when he hesitated in what his first car should be, I bought every model of mid-size crossover SUVs in the market and let him pick the one he preferred.
How is that representative of someone else's age? Why would that make me feel any different about my age hearing a kid with a deeper than his father? Of whom are people I do not know.
I was impressed that the $100+ price tag per game gave the kid pause. Linus and Yvonne have clearly done a great job of teaching him the value of money
That's what I was thinking. They've clearly not spoiled him. Linus is a tech creator and I assumed this kid would have every one of those handhelds and entire libraries of games. It's important for kids to feel the crunch and be forced to enjoy a little. Good job Linus.
@gaben3120 i dont think so..he probably has access to them but not to take forever & just keep...the fact he stumbled over 100$ game purchases on the switch when they can clearly afford it, if linus wanted to buy it for him sounds to me like he's not just spoiled rotten but who knows
This concept is actually awesome. Half is him talking to his dad and half is him hearing the script that his dad worked hard on. Kinda like take your kid to work day. (Plus he gets paid with a new console)
Linus my son says he has a tip for you. Let your son do a monthly review of gear aimed at teens etc that way he can get a perspective from someone his age.
The fact that he said he would have chosen another handheld with steam games if he didn't have a PC to play the same ones already is the reason he is going with the switch is actually a very practical reason. Now he can just play steam games on pc while still being able to play completely different games on switch. And he still had the grasp of just how absurd switch games cost.
Yep valid choice. If he had chosen another handheld console, emulating switch 1 would still be largely possible but down the road he will be missing out on a lot of switch 2 exclusive and he may be kicking himself for his decision. With Steam still running strong and great discount on most games after a few years, it's almost impossible to not be able to afford pc game at some point in our life. @shizuxo
@shizuxo yeah, switch and PC is a killer combo that gets you every single game basically. The only exceptions are some Sony and rockstar titles that you’ll have to wait a year or two for.
Also that we don't anything about him because: 1. He is Linus's son 2. As Linus said, he is sheltered 3. He probably doesn't have Social Media presence and will probably never have any considering his father's awful experiences when it comes to that 4. He has a life so he doesn't need to have a pubic image
Proudness is not a correct word. You can say that one is proud of someone else Or that one can see pride in their eyes for their son. Sorry, grammar is something I can't ignore. Edit: don't know how to make me not sound mean.
I have never had a bigger smile on my face than seeing the wholesome-ness of dad and son picking a gaming console. It is one of the most genuine family moments I've seen. The thought and time put into these videos are amazing. And I love every second of it. he is lucky that his dad has the ability to show him the console and knows the specs.
Heads up to Nintendo: Did you see the look on Linus' son's face when he heard how expensive the games are? That's a child's reaction, your intended consumer base's reaction. I think it says it all.
Games were arguably more expensive in the 90s depending on the title. The real issue is how much more expensive everything else has become, leading to increased scrutiny on video game prices imo
Agreed. This video felt like it was not only to celebrate his son's birthday but linus teaching his son character development. Core memory for his son for sure. I wish them the best!
"100 dollars for a game ... uh ... sure ... ill take the switch 2 ... " Is so damn on point. And very reflected for such a young boy! His father is a tech millionaire and 100$ca makes him gulp. Kudos to Yvonne and Linus!
@IrrationalCharm a kid of a rich tech millionaire having a lot of stuff is expected honestly. People sometimes act like he isn’t or that he shouldn’t be spoiled but I’m pretty sure it’s been said in the past, the kids are spoilt. I don’t think Linus actually cares since realistically if everyone’s parents could give them insanely expensive gifts I think they would
@IrrationalCharm Fortunate? Yes. Spoiled? No. The fact he reacted how most people do to $100+ CA games, is a sign that his parents don't just buy him anything he wants.
Every single time I see your kids, I am just blown away at how much they've grown in between their appearances in videos. You see them every day, but we just see baby boy one moment, then BOOM, hes a teen the next! Time really flies man, I remember watching you so long ago when he was just a toddler.
just found this and had the same conclusion - the awkward father/son interactions are the best content here .. he has a lot more of Yvonne's sensibility and better looks though - so there is hope for him yet
@sam-d5i9t Really? I don't see it lol If I saw them standing in the line near each other and not interacting, I would have never guessed they're related 😂
It takes a lot of confidence especially as a kid to be on camera in front of millions and I respect that and I know I definitely couldn't do it so good on you young man 💪
i like the way linus treats his son tbh, like he literally could give him ALL OF THEM AND MANY MORE,but the fact that he made him "choose" show how parenting is supposed to be.
If you honestly think his son wouldn't have access to all of these if he really wanted your kidding yourself and that was evidenced by the ROG ally that Linus personally uses. Well I could just use that if I asked. Linus is totally going to run an ROG Xbox ally x.
He literally says at the end he also has a desktop PC. So he can play now play any and all games released in a native res since all Xbox games are on PC and there are around 2-3 playstation games left not on PC. If you own a PC/Switch you basically own everything already.
I feel like if one other reality sunk in he'd have bailed on the switch. Not only is this really hard for a kid to afford, he's a PC gamer. Any game he buys for his PC he'd get free on his handheld so he wouldn't have to choose between buying a handheld game and his PC game.
@Henk717 Oh that's a VERY good point. But I guess the counter to that is the Nintendo exclusives. Though having said that, to be honest, he probably could have taken a handheld this year and asked for a Switch 2 next year. Mario Kart World is a big disappointment and there's not much else on the horizon right now (for me at least).
@al201103 to be fair, the Xbox ally is looking to be a waaaay better option + for someone who already has a VERY well built PC, a Switch seems like a better deal at the moment. Personally tho, I’m feeling that waiting for the OLED version is a better option.
It’s so incredibly hard to believe I started watching this as a kid when Linus didn’t have children yet and now he has such a grown young man next to him still baffles me in a good way ❤
I was rewatching the old scrapyard wars and in one of them Linus son is a little kid playing in the backyard where Linus is working. Now he is taller than Linus! Insanity.
I was rewatching the old scrapyard wars and in one of them Linus son is a little kid playing in the backyard where Linus is working. Now he is taller than Linus! Insanity.
Switch 2 looked pretty good, maybe edges a lot of things out... then the game price gets mentioned and then it doesn't look so good in comparison. Yeah, Nintendo first party games are great but there's only like 2-3 per year and they NEVER go on sale.
@tinwhiskerSC Check out HWUB content on the switch 2 screen. They looked into it after people complained of ghosting and found the input latency is 50% worse than the switch 1 LCD, doesn't meet any HDR spec and is just worse in every way vs the OLED screen on the switch 1. That killed it for me.
@tinwhiskerSC well, if you think that way you end up spending less even tough they are expensive because nintendo consoles normally have 4 to 5 exclusive games worth playing
11:59 this is a smart person. He wants more time to really test and figure out what is best, which is a lot better than most kids out there who act without thinking and just pick what they originally wanted. Linus, you are a good father.
Smart kid? He chose the newest device because of popularity and peer pressure from his friends. 🙄 We all saw the grimace in his face when he heard how ridiculous and greedy Nintendo is. Not to mention having a father like Linus and not knowing shit about tech. I was raised by an alcoholic single whore of a mother. And even I figured out CD anti-skip tech (basically pre-scanned and pre-loaded audio on ssm) by 12 years old. And Linus is not a good father. He horribly informed him, used his kid for a video (the kid looked so uncomfortable), and let him choose a garbage device. I wouldn't let my kid make a bad decision that would affect him in the long run. Linus is an adult. There is no excuse. I don't blame the kid. He's a kid.
@darthbreadcatyeah when I was his age I was building pcs - not saying that’s special but I just find it kinda dumb how his father is Linus tech tips and he seems clueless about a lot of things he shouldn’t be.
Based on everything we've heard, Linus had a very 'character-building' childhood. I think it's normal for his kid who grew up much more comfortable to be a lot nicer.
yeah i'm getting the switch 2 also, honnestly other handhelds still feel like experimental stuff, when i'm home after a long day i just wanna rock the console on start playing, don't wanna deal with endless updates, crashes, tinkering etc that's just plain headache.
Portal with a PS5 is a very good deal. Games are way cheaper, and the Portal is really nice if the connection is good. Now we know Linus will have that going, so as long he is somewhere where download is good, he will be golden. I have it all, 3070 PC, all the consoles, incl Switch 2 and a GPD Win 4, and I still really like the Portal. I think I would pick the PS5 with Portal over the Switch 2, especially as a young teen, games are just way and way cheaper.
legit why is that $200 E-Waste even made? like legit "heres your Playstation Portal kiddo, enjoy it collecting dust since you dont own a PS5" like for real, that thing shouldnt exist, you can already Stream Playstation games to other devices including a PC, so just get a PC handheld, and forgo the useless portal, have PC games and you can still stream PS5 games.
@benyt179 Even if he has access to the PS5 games through Steam? I sometimes wonder about handhelds, they are good for travelling, but really should be put away when socialising with family and friends when you are away from home imo.
Sometimes people want tech because their irl friends play on it too. There's a social aspect to it. To some, that's far more important than specs ever will be.
I agree. I think some would see the spoiling as debatable. Hes still getting his pick at literally any handheld. But, he's obviously had good parenting based on his responses and choices. He didnt just go for the biggest baddest and most expensive, he went for the one that made the most sense for him. It could be a little bit spoiling though with literally everything he has at his fingertips at all times, but thats just a good life hes been born into so it makes sense as well. I just think in comparison to most children, they are very very fortunate. That doesnt necessarily mean spoiled though, so in the end I'd have to agree.
Honestly, I absoluetly love that Linus and his kids still actually have a ‚common people‘ concept for money. His son probably doesn‘t get just a whack ton of pocket money and has to buy games and other ‚superflous’ things with his own money. Good parenting from Yvonne and Linus👍🏼
Oh please, they live in a palace compared to most people and his grandparents have a multimillion dollar cottage on an island off the coast. Their home theater cost more than a lot of people make in a year after tax. This is Vancouver as well, probably one of the most expensive places in the country to live.
@kart182 No one said Linus and Yvonne didn't work for what they have. We all saw his journey working as a lowly retail grunt to building up a multi-million tech media empire. That does not change the fact that his kids grew up with silver spoons in their mouths. Look at the amount of money he spends customizing his new house build with the latest tech. How many people have a 6-PC LAN Gaming Basement with the latest graphics cards? Linus does.
I feel the son wanting to try them out each a little longer. That’s a hard decision and knowing all them brands gonna see this video. I’m glad he’s genuinely enjoying this too! Happy birthday kid!🎉❤
Yeah, that was the smartest decision. I don't know many kids who would justify it the way he did. They'd probably just go for a "Steam machine" or the Switch 2 just because they were going to anyway, without reassessing the new info at hand.
Wronng. If i really wanted the switch 2 i would have chosen the Ally x, sold it for 700$, buy 500$ switch 2 with Mario cart and have an extra 200 to buy upgrade my library. That would have been smart.
@mrmike198619861986 considering that his Dad is paying for this. This doesn't make too much sense. Linus can buy the game instead of going to the hassle of buying selling and buying again
Also I bet Linus would end up getting him a PC handheld in the future anyway... notice how he only said "I won't get you a Switch if you pick PC" but did not say the reverse.
I'd think getting a Steam Deck OLED (or any of the other handhelds) would have the advantage of "play your whole Steam library, with the same saves, so you can continue your playthrough on your PC and on your handheld". And he already has a Switch, so he can still play every Switch game there.
Um... weird take. This comment might have been funny in the early 90s, "Nerd' isn't a term that is a insult considering how many "Nerdy" things are now mainstream.
3:50 My 13.5 year old kid gives me the exact same "shut up with your boomer stuff I want to game" look every time I bring up tech specs or other non-gaming elements of one of the things we're using together. That look is universal.
@Shaflugi Thats so wrong. If that was true wed all be rocking a 1060 with a 720p display.People do care up to a certain point. Most dont care if its 1440p or 1080p but anything less is unacceptable to them. They also dont care about 120hz vs 60hz but also anything less is unacceptable.Same goes for fps, 60 is the minimum and the graphics card and cpu is the minimum one that can allow them to hit 60 on their favorite games. That is the truth. They do care to a certain degree
I appreciate the way he did this. I'm usually against people using their kids for content, but this is a good thing. This is a kid giving his honest opinions on different consoles with Linus providing additional information. This video could be very helpful to families hoping to surprise their kids with a really nice gift. I remember being so happy when my grandmother surprised me with a PSP. Well done, Linus and son.
I genuinely appriciate that Linus is doing his best to not raise his kids like spoiled brats. Obviously what we see on camera could be different from IRL, but he has spoken on the WAN show about how he does his best to instill the "just because I got lucky doesnt mean yall will, so learn the value of a dollar" mindset.
@THENATHE. dude. That’s exactly what I noticed. My wife and I grew up with nothing. We came up, but our kids are getting the “we don’t have money” treatment. I let my kid see a small checking account where I keep 40 dollars and tell him I don’t have anything and he can see it if he wants. It works wonders lol. Gotta keep them grounded and humbled.
I been following Linus since NCIX days on 2009 youtube, he is not "lucky". his charm and character are God given and he put in the hard work, day after day God bless the Sebastien family JB, from the Maritimes
The fact he doesnt even really know what a PlayStation controller looks like, or seems to really not know about many of these handhelds (like he clearly has seen a steam deck but I don't get the impression he tried the touchpads before). Like you said, things could always be different but I think it shows they are clearly not spoiling them with a bunch of stuff willy nilly. Even that multiple times during the video he questions choosing this quickly about what he clearly sees as a big purchase (even though he isn't even paying for it) From what I can tell they are doing a great job.
"This menu is laggier than the game" yea. I've observed that a lot of times in "modern" software. Can we please get back to menus that don't lag anymore? For all software? Maybe start with stop putting a browser and webtech into everything?

good on y'all for correcting that error
didn’t even notice

@loganmooney7724cry ab it. it’s not a big deal given the context of the video.
Also incorrect info for S2, "it" does not do HDR lol just marketing for the switch 2
For all the idiots reading my comment I literally said switch 2 now pls syk
Crazy how much linus has grown. He's almost the height of his son already
🤣😂🤣
Bwahahahaha 😂
🤣🤣🤣
There is reason why linus is short and its purely safety reason… imagine if he would drop all those items abowe 1 meter 😂
Bring in the high heels :D
Linus's son looks like if Linus and Yvonne had a baby
Forget all the "taller than Linus" jokes, the kid turned out to be much more handsome than his dad. I knew that genetic diversity thing was a good idea ;)
@Randrewodd thing to say
No shit shirloch
@Randrew its true though, genetically diverse children are more attractive statistics wise. tryna upgrade my bloodline too shi
Attractiveness is a preference. Stop trying to divide people.
Notice he didn't drop anything, linus 2.0 update is real
And he is also only just over 5’1”….actually Linus might be standing on a box
@ReepsWasteOfTime So he doesn't drop stuff standing on boxes. He found an exploit
I wonder what's the Dev's been cooking for Linus 3.0
there must have been some bug fixing with that update ;)
I think this has more to do with the Yvonne DLC
My dad used to let me choose between slippers, broomstick, or leather belt... for my punishment...
@kaisarantonn7225 sorry to hear that and I know you’re saying it like a joke but make sure your future kids will not have to go through the same thing (if you plan on having children in the future)
Fuck those slippers dad, I'm ready to be a man. Get the belt
@kyle5210 haha
They probably have Linus standing on a box.
It's crazy how much he's grown
linus my secure nd confident king
Neon visual what are you doing here 😭🙏
@NeonVisual Nah He's Not That Short
*on an Xbox.
22:45 "that's life, well no that's not life, that's content." Glad you're being honest with your kid
Life and content as subject productions are not inseparable
@darkdagon6you mean "mutually exclusive?" Because what you're saying is they can be separate and that's not what the quote was at all. Linus was saying it was a different matter entirely
I laughed out loud at that

Linus's Son : Dad, I want a gaming handheld.
Linus to his team : GET THE CAMERAS READYYYY!!
😂😂
Bro my luck is the most bada## because I cannot even buy a nintendo switch lite with my own money, Indian Parents 😢😢😢😢
@HalalBoYo As someone from Nepal, I can totally understand you bro.
@HalalBoYoAs someone from Bangladesh I can feel the pain I may get an ps4 later but definitely not an switch
@HalalBoYo As someone from Germany i can't relate. Not that my parents would buy me anything, but mini jobs pay pretty well.
I love the fact you have all these handhelds on tap but you haven’t just “given” them to your son. Hes getting one as a birthday present. that’s brilliant parenting he will value it more

The systems he was reviewing were likely the test products for the company.
This is content. Linus' son 100% has access to all of those
Stop idolizing youtubers. You don't know what is going on behind closed cameras. Just enjoy the content and don't be parasocial.
You know you're getting old when Linus' son has a deeper voice than Linus
Also seems his son has bigger biceps and he's only 15 ??
@fredwerza3478 kids these days start hitting the gym early which is definitely a good thing
@SuttonBen he had a very deep voice a few years ago when he was a little sick. It was night and day difference. I could not find these videos again.
How is that representative of someone else's age? Why would that make me feel any different about my age hearing a kid with a deeper than his father? Of whom are people I do not know.
@fredwerza3478 he's not, but the proportion of those biceps sure are
at this rate he will have a full beard before Linus grows his back
This was filmed like 2 or 3 weeks ago sherlock
Linus has been growing it back.
@yeetboi0490It's just a joke, Sherlock!
@jorceshamanyea a bad one
@yeetboi0490 a joke nonetheless
I was impressed that the $100+ price tag per game gave the kid pause. Linus and Yvonne have clearly done a great job of teaching him the value of money
Agreed they raised him well !
That's what I was thinking. They've clearly not spoiled him. Linus is a tech creator and I assumed this kid would have every one of those handhelds and entire libraries of games. It's important for kids to feel the crunch and be forced to enjoy a little. Good job Linus.
It was also nice to see that they seem to get along.
Anyone who isn't a drooling Nintentoddler would have issues with that price.
Arm chair parents.... It's creepy y'all
"Here's Zelda on the Steam Deck"
20 seconds later
"Hacking is not allowed"
This whole video is great.
Good enough of a father to give him a handheld for his birthday, but evil enough to make him choose which one
@panagiotispappas1001 I'm pretty sure behind curtains he can have more than one console. Probably even has a few
Good life lesson 😅😂
@gaben3120 i dont think so..he probably has access to them but not to take forever & just keep...the fact he stumbled over 100$ game purchases on the switch when they can clearly afford it, if linus wanted to buy it for him sounds to me like he's not just spoiled rotten but who knows
@gaben3120 From what I heard on the WAN show, while Linus is describing his parenting style... I doubt it
and pay 115cad for games that linus doesnt want to play
"This is the same as yours, why couldn't I just borrow it?" 5:48
Linus: "Wait, that's Illegal."
Kid: “I’m gonna do what’s called a pro gamer move”
Bending the rule runs in this family
That's not good content. 😅
Wholesome checkmate
Linus realizing his kid has his brain and his wife's brain combined into big brain child 😂
Linus turning his kids gifts into a tax write off.
A Good businessman and father.
Which doesn't mean the gifts are being paid for with other people's taxes, it means Linus paid for it but doesn't have to pay taxes on it.
Are the games tax off writable too?
@uxiii9537 Probably
He probably paid his kid to star in the video as well, so he likely has enough money to buy Cyberpunk for the Switch 2!
@Bignerdgaming78 excellent idea!
It's his son's option, and he comes off a bit camera shy honestly
@BryanLu0 this comment aged like milk
@dan_barraganhow
@dan_barraganhow?
12:55 the fact son asks about A and B on a PlayStation is golden
That was my question when PS1 came out. I was playing Tekken and MK Trilogy. I got use to it.
For me it was the L3 - R3 lmao the 2 legend of wtf i'm pressing here games ????
man, as a PS fan it sucks to see people try PS for the first time. I do hate the D-pad, Nintendo does D-pad's good.
As an Xbox fan I love to hear that kids know what system has the games an better controller
@TheRibsta420 fr!
How is he taller than Linus already.
Easy, we're talking about Linus
👀 Linus is like 5"1 *joking*
Linus grows by shrinking.
@alexander2379thats a funny because he is 4’10
No his 4'8
Everything here was so relateable
I like how calm he is even with Hasty Linus as his dad. He even asked for more time to understand the consoles and make an informed choice .
With Steam still running strong and great discount on most games after a few years, it's almost impossible to not be able to afford pc game at some point in our life. @shizuxo
Yvonne's Practical DNA is shining through
@shizuxo yeah, switch and PC is a killer combo that gets you every single game basically. The only exceptions are some Sony and rockstar titles that you’ll have to wait a year or two for.
@MarcusTSMarcus switch 1 and pc was a horrible combo tho. You could play every switch game on pc with way better performance xD
Who else remember's when my boy here was just a little tike playing with the fan of the OG GTX Titan when Linus reviewed it
feels like forever ago
me
Just looked up the video, he's not there, maybe it was a different one?
@guillex6443Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan Technology and Performance Overview.” Kid is literally in the thumbnail
remember when he first showed up in the logitech G19 video
Wait what happened, it felt like yesterday i was watching the little guy build a PC with linus. Now hes a teenager?!?
we're all getting old dude
every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Wait till next year and he's got a full beard going on, showing papa Linus how it's done.
Also that we don't anything about him because:
1. He is Linus's son
2. As Linus said, he is sheltered
3. He probably doesn't have Social Media presence and will probably never have any considering his father's awful experiences when it comes to that
4. He has a life so he doesn't need to have a pubic image
@illuminoeye_gaming Existential crisis time!
He would have loved the PSP… 20 years ago
My dad let me pick any one of the sticks of gum at the gas station for my birthday
probably about as expensive as a switch 2 nowadays
Happy Birthday!
Damn ur lucky
tell your pops to lock in
@BrowniePembroke gum is still like $2 for 15 sticks
03:08 i like how you can tell that linus was proud of himself for holding back the "that's what she said"
References without time stamps 🤮
@azmo_03:08
Oh wow I was thinking how high his dad mode was on, was never tempted 😂
@owlnova 🤣🤣🤣
I started screaming🤣🤣💀
8:03 you can see proudness in linus' eyes when his son talks about performance.
only went to the comment section to see this one
Proudness is not a correct word.
You can say that one is proud of someone else
Or that one can see pride in their eyes for their son.
Sorry, grammar is something I can't ignore.
Edit: don't know how to make me not sound mean.
@NekoTangerine-jg6ti I wish I could carry you around to correct my grammar 😅
@FriedPistachionope, I bite.
And I did sound a bit condescending I think...
I think, Linus wants to show what really matters. Latency and stuttering are no-gos.
I have never had a bigger smile on my face than seeing the wholesome-ness of dad and son picking a gaming console. It is one of the most genuine family moments I've seen. The thought and time put into these videos are amazing. And I love every second of it. he is lucky that his dad has the ability to show him the console and knows the specs.
sybau
@Shadxww_BS? tf is wrong with you
@FostFather genuine my ass, it was just a giant ad.
@meowww8887 i know right wtf
The ads really added to the wholesomeness.
That reaction to the game prices at the end nearly steering him away from the Switch 2. Same, kid. Same.
Wait till he finds out evry other consoels prices switch 2 is sadly the cheapest to have
@dreadz314 Kinda depends on how many games you end up buying.
Switch 2 is mostly 60 sollar games with a few 70 and q 80 ps5 is all 70 and xbox is 80 base game price @Minesweeper33
"my wallet is full, but closed."
At least he'll be ready when the inevitable rise in game prices happens for other newer games.
Heads up to Nintendo: Did you see the look on Linus' son's face when he heard how expensive the games are? That's a child's reaction, your intended consumer base's reaction. I think it says it all.
Intended consumers are kids but intended customers are parents.
Games were arguably more expensive in the 90s depending on the title.
The real issue is how much more expensive everything else has become, leading to increased scrutiny on video game prices imo
@InvictvsNoxno, the problem is that prices increased but salaries have not
At least drop the prices on the digital ownership of those games. Dude. C'mon.. it's ridiculous pricing.
13 year olds aren’t buying the Switch 2 bro, parents are 😂
They look like siblings 😭❤️
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, YOU GOT A GREAT DAD!
I left this at 69.
Agreed. This video felt like it was not only to celebrate his son's birthday but linus teaching his son character development. Core memory for his son for sure. I wish them the best!
@WolfWhispererWoman 72 now
Yeah, that is the better gift.
I know Linus been teaching him a lot about pcs, I expect his son to make more appearances, this video was really enjoyable
"100 dollars for a game ... uh ... sure ... ill take the switch 2 ... "
Is so damn on point. And very reflected for such a young boy! His father is a tech millionaire and 100$ca makes him gulp. Kudos to Yvonne and Linus!
Yeah it shows he doesn't just spoil his kids, he wants to make sure they actually have a sense for money
Cad
@occasionalartkid has a súper PC got the latest and greatest tech.
Yeah, he is spoiled
@3v068 that just means we are getting old :(
@reazorgb Aye man, we may be getting old, but at least we know that we have time left to make life great.
@3v068 Exactly bro, Always remember Just because today is bad, Doesn't mean tomorrow won't be worse.
Creeps😂
Also how well behaved they are.
Linus continuously playing on the Switch 2
It's so trippy to see how much the little man has grown.
It feels like yesterday that he was helping you assemble a PC
ikr linus has grown almost as tall as his son 🥹🥹🥹
I remember
"We got ourselves an AMD boy"
@Tondow WOOOOAHHHHHHH
I didn't see the resemblance until 24:06 now... its uncanny.
Same
Best father and son moments....laughing and being awkward together..
just found this and had the same conclusion - the awkward father/son interactions are the best content here .. he has a lot more of Yvonne's sensibility and better looks though - so there is hope for him yet
Same jaw, same nose, same face! Basically a mini Linus lmao.
@sam-d5i9t Really? I don't see it lol If I saw them standing in the line near each other and not interacting, I would have never guessed they're related 😂
Linus we need more father son videos when he gets a little more comfortable on camera you guys will be hilarious together
Actually, the awkward moments were the best part LoL 😂 loved it.
holy moly their son is literally a perfect 50/50 mix of them
like you could have 100 kids and 100 sets of parents and match them instantly
It takes a lot of confidence especially as a kid to be on camera in front of millions and I respect that and I know I definitely couldn't do it so good on you young man 💪
@Ash3nm ever heard of Ryan's world
23:45 The look of defeat/resignation on his face is gold 😂
He will buy it for him, don't worry 🤣🤣
i like the way linus treats his son tbh, like he literally could give him ALL OF THEM AND MANY MORE,but the fact that he made him "choose" show how parenting is supposed to be.
If you honestly think his son wouldn't have access to all of these if he really wanted your kidding yourself and that was evidenced by the ROG ally that Linus personally uses. Well I could just use that if I asked. Linus is totally going to run an ROG Xbox ally x.
I mean like he said he could just borrow his dadss
And was very tough dad on him 😅
He literally says at the end he also has a desktop PC. So he can play now play any and all games released in a native res since all Xbox games are on PC and there are around 2-3 playstation games left not on PC. If you own a PC/Switch you basically own everything already.
@jackass123455 Linus doesn't look the kind of guy to let his kid use anything and everything. That would be spoiling your kid rotten.
Linus accidentally just made the best switch 2 ad
The non-verbal reasoning exercises going on at 23:55 is the biggest global recession indicator I've ever seen.
I think that was the moment they realized Steam sales are not a thing on the Switch 2...
by the time the big games come out, i can already see the emulation community jumping on cracking of the switch 2
It’s so incredibly hard to believe I started watching this as a kid when Linus didn’t have children yet and now he has such a grown young man next to him still baffles me in a good way ❤
I still remember the video where Linus introduced his son who was only about 3 months old at the time
I thought Dennis was Linus’ son back when I started watching…
I was rewatching the old scrapyard wars and in one of them Linus son is a little kid playing in the backyard where Linus is working. Now he is taller than Linus! Insanity.
I was rewatching the old scrapyard wars and in one of them Linus son is a little kid playing in the backyard where Linus is working. Now he is taller than Linus! Insanity.
His kid is older than I was when I started watching his videos... And he was born after I started watching
24:00 - "Ugh, okay sure" pretty much sums up the Switch 2 in a nutshell
Switch 2 looked pretty good, maybe edges a lot of things out... then the game price gets mentioned and then it doesn't look so good in comparison. Yeah, Nintendo first party games are great but there's only like 2-3 per year and they NEVER go on sale.
@tinwhiskerSC Check out HWUB content on the switch 2 screen. They looked into it after people complained of ghosting and found the input latency is 50% worse than the switch 1 LCD, doesn't meet any HDR spec and is just worse in every way vs the OLED screen on the switch 1. That killed it for me.
@tinwhiskerSC there's literally a huge summer sale on rn. also game "prices" only one game is $80 and you get it half off in the bundle
I had the exact same thought lol. I ended up finally getting a steam deck after the switch 2 was announced just because of game prices.
@tinwhiskerSC well, if you think that way you end up spending less even tough they are expensive because nintendo consoles normally have 4 to 5 exclusive games worth playing
this kinda shows that even though all these cool pc handhelds exist, the way nintendo exists in the average consumer's mind is too powerful
Especially the fact that emulation on switch exists
11:59 this is a smart person. He wants more time to really test and figure out what is best, which is a lot better than most kids out there who act without thinking and just pick what they originally wanted. Linus, you are a good father.
It’s not that deep man
Kids dad is a tech guru and he’s never heard of steam OS - clearly not the smartest tool in the shed
He's a kid.
@rockguy5931 hes just a kid dude
@darthbreadcatyeah when I was his age I was building pcs - not saying that’s special but I just find it kinda dumb how his father is Linus tech tips and he seems clueless about a lot of things he shouldn’t be.
I can’t get over the fact that his son always sounds so sweet and gentle, while Linus is always kinda spicy 😂
Based on everything we've heard, Linus had a very 'character-building' childhood. I think it's normal for his kid who grew up much more comfortable to be a lot nicer.
Seems pretty normal to me, sweet and gentle at 15 when everything is kind of new, spicy at 40 when everything's getting old.
This is unironically maybe the most useful handheld roundup for the average person
yeah i'm getting the switch 2 also, honnestly other handhelds still feel like experimental stuff, when i'm home after a long day i just wanna rock the console on start playing, don't wanna deal with endless updates, crashes, tinkering etc that's just plain headache.
That part at the end is where you bring the Steam Deck back And Say The Prices are better on the steam deck.
i love how the entire intro his son just does NOT smile at any of the silly jokes
Immune to dad jokes.
he's shaping up to start his channel "Linus' son technological recommendations"
22:10 Kid just figured out Nvidia's whole strategy!
3:08 Linus's mind: That's what she said, Linus's word out of his mouth: Yes, is that a problem?
Dodged a bullet right there
if he had said that : :danWANBell: *tink! *
He tried so hard to hold himself back 😅 he would sleep on the couch for a week if he didn’t 😂
Haha he totally thought that
i am dreaming this kind of moment on my future son. like being a good father in all ways like wow!
19:27 Familiar "boop" sound? yeah, that's Linus' son alright :)
5:15 Linus you CRIMINAL
3:08 Linus fighting the urge to say "that's what she said" but remembering this is a family moment on a family tech channel
Imagine him picking the PlayStation Portal instead.
Happy birthday, dude. Wish you nothing but the best.
Living life at 30fps 😅
Portal with a PS5 is a very good deal. Games are way cheaper, and the Portal is really nice if the connection is good. Now we know Linus will have that going, so as long he is somewhere where download is good, he will be golden.
I have it all, 3070 PC, all the consoles, incl Switch 2 and a GPD Win 4, and I still really like the Portal. I think I would pick the PS5 with Portal over the Switch 2, especially as a young teen, games are just way and way cheaper.
legit why is that $200 E-Waste even made?
like legit "heres your Playstation Portal kiddo, enjoy it collecting dust since you dont own a PS5"
like for real, that thing shouldnt exist, you can already Stream Playstation games to other devices including a PC, so just get a PC handheld, and forgo the useless portal, have PC games and you can still stream PS5 games.
@benyt179 Even if he has access to the PS5 games through Steam? I sometimes wonder about handhelds, they are good for travelling, but really should be put away when socialising with family and friends when you are away from home imo.
@TheFallinhalo Because the experience on the portal is way better than on a windows handheld (when talking about streaming), pretty simple.
Sometimes people want tech because their irl friends play on it too. There's a social aspect to it. To some, that's far more important than specs ever will be.
Well done Linus/Yvonne 👏🏻... You can tell when kids are not raised spoiled, when you said something costs XYZ, and they go "WTF??".
Yeah but if the kid takes over the channel when he's 21 then he's pretty much an instant millionaire
23:40 the pain of realizing how expensive the games got lmao
TRUE. The only I bought a Switch 2 is because I have a lot of multiplayer Switch 1 games I can play with other people offline.
Linus being worth multi multi multi millionaire and not spoiling his kids is respectable
Linus and Yvonne are both intelligent and hard-working --- no way in hell they are gonna let their kids be spoiled and lazy
God, Linus' genes didn't even try with this kid.
11:47
I like this kid. It's an important decision, no need to rush.
You could see how much it hurt him when he heard the price of Switch 2 games, lol.
Yep, he earns money by doing chores or starring in videos. Good parenting
Oh please, they live in a palace compared to most people and his grandparents have a multimillion dollar cottage on an island off the coast. Their home theater cost more than a lot of people make in a year after tax. This is Vancouver as well, probably one of the most expensive places in the country to live.
@alcovitchoh please what? Linus and Yvonne are aware of that and have talked at length how they have worked to keep their children grounded
Linus does.
You know he's a gamer when he's whistle-sprinting in breath of the wild lmfao 19:41
yeah i noticed that lmao
i mean when the gameplay doesnt make you question anything, you know something is right, like when he tried to flick on target with gyro aim :,)
I feel the son wanting to try them out each a little longer. That’s a hard decision and knowing all them brands gonna see this video.
I’m glad he’s genuinely enjoying this too!
Happy birthday kid!🎉❤
The kid is right. He needs more time, at least a full day to decide 😆
Smart kid. Let the PC run the PC games, get the Switch 2 for the Nintendo Exclusives.
5:55 dad language of “don’t touch my stuff”
LMAFOOOOOOOOO 😂😂😂
Linus convincing his son to not pick the switch 2 for 25:32 mins
5:48 kid’s too smart for his own good. If I were him, I’d never pick the Ally for this reason.
You can Tell Linus' Son, is not a PC Nerd, because his posture is straight and correct
Um... weird take. This comment might have been funny in the early 90s, "Nerd' isn't a term that is a insult considering how many "Nerdy" things are now mainstream.
The kid had big arms --- gut feeling tell me he plays multiple sports at school
@ArkzinoxIt may not be an insult anymore but you clearly took it as one lol
@Arkzinox says more about you that you took that comment as an insult tbh.
@Arkzinox Bud, i am literally a viewer here.
I'm a Nerd too, why would i be using it as an insult Lmfao
Why does bro looked so ripped already is Linus feeding him CPUs or something
Badminton.
Yeah, Threadrippers. Chips are good for you.
Kinda crazy the kid is only 13 and has ripped arms bigger than his Dad already
You forget he will want to play on what his friends are playing, usually entry level hand helds from parents.
3:50 My 13.5 year old kid gives me the exact same "shut up with your boomer stuff I want to game" look every time I bring up tech specs or other non-gaming elements of one of the things we're using together. That look is universal.
I had to get games for free when I was 9. So no, it's just a lazy behavior.
i talk like that to my slightly younger brother and hes like that too
This is the "shut up, nerd" look. Most players don't care about specs.
I get that same look for the same reasons from my 25.5 year old son 😆
My 18.3 year old daughter just completely blanks me....
He’s such a yin to his dad’s yang. They respond to each other’s sentences in front of a camera very naturally.
racially charged /s
That's the Yvonne DNA shining through
Race motivated
Damn he is almost taller than linus
Asus should give him an Ally 2. That would be a great PR move.
22:20 'dont ask me how i know'
hehehehe
I appreciate the way he did this. I'm usually against people using their kids for content, but this is a good thing. This is a kid giving his honest opinions on different consoles with Linus providing additional information. This video could be very helpful to families hoping to surprise their kids with a really nice gift. I remember being so happy when my grandmother surprised me with a PSP. Well done, Linus and son.
21:08 oh boy... you wouldn't believe what employees do
They would take a NASTY wad of cash to leak half the company's secrets anonymously even if they been with them for years 😂
0:51 “Just like I’m not buying this segway to our sponsor”
Bruh, I bet his son was confused when he said that
I genuinely appriciate that Linus is doing his best to not raise his kids like spoiled brats.
I been following Linus since NCIX days on 2009 youtube, he is not "lucky".
his charm and character are God given and he put in the hard work, day after day
God bless the Sebastien family
JB, from the Maritimes
I actually like his face when he realizes a game is over 100CAD. It shows that he is raised by actually paying for his stuff if he wants them.
Even that multiple times during the video he questions choosing this quickly about what he clearly sees as a big purchase (even though he isn't even paying for it)
From what I can tell they are doing a great job.
you people are ridiculous.
He looks so much like his dad. Glad to see a wholesome dad and son video in this genre
Don't think he looks like him at all. If I didn't know better, I would have never guessed
yeah if his dad was black
Nah bro 🤣
@Shimeih his smile definitely looks like linus, the rest are pretty much are her mother
@mikerzisu9508 That's the joke
These options are ok, but we all know that the best handheld console is the Wii U gamepad.
I honestly thought the wii u was a cool concept
@veilmontTVI really hated it's bulky size and how it felt ....
@BlackyRay_PatrickIt's the best controller ever.
I don’t care what anyone says the Wii U was dope
Its surprisingly comfortable to hold and use.
Switch 2 drawback: You don't actually own anything.
My jaw dropped at 18:35…this poor kid. So much avoidable pain and suffering.
4:24 Why am I here?
5:18 how to lose a nintendo sponsor 101
The big plus of the windows devices are:
1) you can build easily your own game/app with visual studio
2) you have a browser
19:43 when I saw the whistle running, I immediately knew that the switch 2 was his choice.
the whistle sprinting caught me off guard lmao, bros gaming
dang he knows ball
5:13 don't let nintendo see this 😂
@christian97n the Nintendo ninjas are on their way🥷🥷🥷
the nintendo ninjas on standby
Pretty sure the ending made it no big deal lol
"This menu is laggier than the game" yea. I've observed that a lot of times in "modern" software. Can we please get back to menus that don't lag anymore? For all software? Maybe start with stop putting a browser and webtech into everything?
kinda related but i hate the UI on streaming services, always so laggy when i just want to watch my shows
Hey, don't shit on web tech that much. The SteamDeck UI is pretty smooth and feels nice to use and it's fully web based.
@Dr-Zed yea except that it isn't smooth at all. How many seconds delay until the on screen keyboard appears?
They might of have just said sponsored by Nintendo
7:46 i love how linus is essentially managing everything but still is up to date with all the information and notices small issues in the script
thats sarcasm right?
@opadrinho7577 🤡🤡
That seemed more like an obvious/planted segue to the pen and and a means to get more interaction in the comments.
@sandmaster4444yeah I also think this which is quite a funny way to do it 😂
@sandmaster4444 Damn and I didn't even notice the pen. It did seem an oddly forced interjection though 😂
1:20 how linus's son saying this is crazy 💀💀
Tbf the handheld console that is the most popular other than the switch is the steamdeck but I don't think the kids are that familiar with it
@mashumaro_desuIt depends, in a PC gamer household I guess it's a thing, but yeah even adults ask me what the Steamdeck is when I use it outside.
linus acting like a salesman, pitching the consoles to his son
