I don't understand how 'looks' can be considered a thumbs down if it is such a subjective element. I, for one, love the look of the new 3, and so does many others. Equally, how can the lack of a manual gearbox be on the negative list, most buyers want an auto box. This is not automotive journalism, it's an opinion piece.
Im out for a new car and really favouring the 320d touring. None of the thumbs down make sense to me. Cost, Well its a BMW. No manual, yup i want to automatic and then the looks - i think its stunning
My thoughts exactly. Car reviewers giving opinions on styling should only be a passing comment, not part of the overall judgment of the car, we don't need you to tell us what it looks like, that is the one thing we can do ourselves. All he's done is expose he has poor taste, show me another estate that has a better rear end and side profile, I can't think of any. They perhaps haven't done quite as brilliant job on the front end but it's still very nice, a big improvement on previous gens.
I have one on rental right now as my new car was delayed due to dealers closing. Its a really nice car to drive. I couldn’t justify the cost but it is a true nice car to drive.
Looks as negative…???!?!? It’s the best looking estate in the class, the best looking 3 series ever!!! Sorry, are you guys blind…??? And no manual gearbox…? So what, the ZF 8 speed automatic is the best out there! I have a 3 series G21 (estate) and I LOOOVE it! 😍
Great can order a Touring with non run flats ( part worn runflats are so noisy and more expensive as we found on our last two 3 series tourings) , but unlike the saloon why don't BMW allow the purchase of a spare space saver and provide space for it. Not succeeded in getting an answer from them
3:38 min - Would that mean that you would give a thumbs up to the new bmw-desing with the big, big frontgrill?!! The new ones are ugly-ones! - No, no, no with this 3 series touring, bmw made everything right in terms of "the look"!
Basically, it does most things well, if you radically change the looks and how it drives it’ll cost more, and put off some repeat BMW buyers off, so, mild tweaks here and there seems sensible to me, and, your not paying much more.
With other words for someone who likes the styling, wants a comfy daily cruiser and wants to keep it for 15+ years there's absolutely no faults with the car? nice 👌
Apart from the sublime handling thanks to its RWD, I am so disappointed with my 320d right now. I paid 6500€ for the car, I spent 4500€ servicing it and now I think my EGR valve needs replacement which is another 800-900€. I will never buy German or diesel cars again in my life.
@@dirtyy32 Hey ! I have the E91 (the 2009 facelift with the N47 engine). Since I left the comment all has been well, I didn't have any more problems, I only did regular maintenance like changing the oil, filters and tires.
I have had two F30’s still have one of them and a G20. I have to agree and disagree as a touring it looks better but as a saloon the F30 when it first come out looked amazing and still looks good now the G20 not so much I have had to do cosmetic upgrades to make it look better such as replacing with a completely black grill, the F30 looked great out of the box! I have a different engine in the 330e so can’t make any comparison although I have driven both 320ds in a G20 and F30 and the F30 seemed more potent and agile. The manual was great fun in the F30 although if it’s your regular driver the 8 speed automatic is the best choice. The majority of improvements are inside the G20 it’s just a shame about the styling not being a massive improvement. although at least its not been ruined like the awful new 1 series.
Why would you want manual when the 8 speed auto is superb. ( drive one ) You can change manually on the stick or flappy paddles if you want to. You’re totally right
The 500 litre boot capacity seems a bit disappointing, considering that my Vauxhall Vectra hatchback has the same capacity as that. Other than that, though, I do really like this car and anyway, you get a separately opening tailgate window, which is awesome and something I’ve always loved about 3 Series touring models! 😍
As others mentioned it's good bmw put no manual gearbox, it's a thing of the past. People need to understand that more and more car manufacturers will slowly get rid of the manual transmission going forward.
The things you mentioned as negatives is a joke. Complaining about the looks? Thats subjective, and its far more prettier than the 4 series with that ugly Bugs Bunny teeth grill up-front. Complaining about the costs? It’s a BMW! If it would be a Vaxhaull, or Seat with this price tag I would understand, but its a premium brands flahship-ish car, of course it will be pricier. Dont come with excuses, like “ A Skoda Octavia is less cheaper and much more prcatical”, it might be true, but those people who are considering buying a BMW 3 series would never even think about a Skoda as an option. Come on guys. And the gearbox! If Id like to own a proper driving machine with a manual gearbox than I would by something else. Its a family car (320d) not a sportswagon.
There's a reason you get a range of engine options and not just one. 7.1 for a family touring isn't slow at all for the average person. Plus you pay a fair bit more for speed.
EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE CAR! I got my BMW 330i G21 Touring 2 months ago and i have to say that it is the most uncomfortable car I have ever driven. It is most likely due to the fact that the seats are extremely uncomfortable. I will add here that my dealer forgot to mention that lumbar support requires an extra tick so I ended up with seats without lumbar support. It is a joke in a car with this price tag. I have cloth sport seats with manual control and no lumbar. They are horrible. Additionally, the seat surface is very hard. Any drive 3+ hours is grim! My dealer told me that it is impossible to change the sets. It is a joke!

They were struggling to find negatives about this car hence why they put looks as a negative. It's one the best looking estate cars out there!
The looks of the 3-series Touring are great. It’s the 4-series that is shockingly bad.

It’s effing ugly. Like Pete Burns after several operations, at the front, and the back is like a B-side of a Lexus. The dash doesn’t compensate...

The point is it has all that tech and it's still easy to usw

I agree. A manual gearbox is not important, and I think it looks good but not attractive.
I don’t want fun factor from a manual gearbox.
