Thank GOD they now have a pre- licensure program so you can get your BSN now if you are not already a nurse

Primarily, WGU's BSN programs are for nurses who already have their RN. We do have a program for non-RNs to earn their RN and BSN, but it's only available in Southern California, Texas, Florida, Indiana, and Utah. We'll add the link to the end of the video description above.

Western Governors University I'm not an LVN, but what if an LVN wanted to attend WGU to obtain their RN? What would they need to do in terms of pre-reqs?

there are many good reviews about this school vs those saying that this is waste of money, i am planning to do it this year but i need to ask , i know Ca is very competitive but how ? and will i guarantee get accepted in clinical ? people are saying the program is 2 -1/2 years so with 2 years and half how long does the wait to get accepted in clinical?

      Hi Yelasol!
We apologize for the delayed response and appreciate your interest in WGU!
Unfortunately, we will no longer be admitting new students to the program in California. We have had difficulty growing the program in CA and expanding access is a main WGU mission so we have made the difficult decision to re-focus our efforts in areas where growth and expanding access are possible.
If we do offer that to CA residents in the future, we will update our social media and website!
      Thank you!

I am considering this option for the pre-licensure (I live in Texas). My question is once going through the program and passing the NCLEX exam and getting the nursing licensure, does this only qualify a person to be a certified nurse only in the states mentioned? For example, I likely will not always live in TX forever, if I wanted to move somewhere else where this program is not offered, could I still be a nurse in that state, assuming I received the nursing licensure in TX?

yeah you just have to apply for a license in the state you're moving to. some states have a compact license agreement where if you're licensed in one of those states then you're licensed in the other states within that agreement but others are not. so you it just depends which state but regardless you will be able to transfer your license to different states. you just have to go through the process
