Hi! Thanks for your tutorial! I purchased the 05-08 ZX-6R mirrors on ebay. They will come from China (I live in Belgium and there is none in Europe) so I'll have to wait 2-3 weeks. Hope it will also fit on my FZ6R 2013 :-) I ll give you my feedback!
Em..I have actually got one in mind. Do you find upshifting on the FZ6R kind of...rough? I have recently bought a second hand 2013 FZ6R with 2000kms on clock, however, looking at the log book, the first service was done at 200kms... You reckon I should do an oil change and see if it helps?
+Anson Wong depends on the oil put into the engine. I go 10,000 miles between oil changes running full synthetic, but it couldn't hurt being that new. maybe more of a break in period would help as well. I have a video showing how to do an oil Change if you have any questions about it.
+Anson Wong I have quite some experience with shifting on Yamaha bikes, mostly 125cc and recently the FZ6r. Yamaha shifter has a special characteristic is that if the timing is not perfect, it feel either very rough or won't even shift at all (keep on kicking and it doesn't go anywhere). BUT if the timing is right, it shift so smooth that you won't feel so much as a click. When upshifting try this: releasing all pressure on the shifter first (point your toes down to separate foot and lever), then move your toes up to preload the lever up very slightly - now quickly release throttle, grab the clutch lever and push shift lever up in sync, it's the best if the RPM does not drop down all the way to idle when upshift. For shifting down, slow down to the appropriate speed for the lower gear (i.e don't shift down to 1 when you are still 15+mph,) hold the clutch lever in first, hold a tiny bit of throttle so the RPM rise a little, then shift down, release clutch 80% to let things engage, slow down a bit more, then hold the clutch in and repeat (the tiny bit of throttle and appropriate speed are strictly a experiment thing, you just have to feel it until you learn the sweet spot that let you shift down the smoothest, no clunk and no resistance)
Do you have any pictures of what the finished bike looks like with the mirrors? I mean I can kind of see, but not enough to tell if i would like them any better
ianj32 I do, but I don't know how to put them into the comments. there is an FZ6R Facebook page that you could go to to see how they look. Hope this helps.
Roberto Reis @350816563146 ,You can just search for them on eBay or any other store. 05-08 ZX6R mirrors. It takes some tuning to get them into the right position once they're on but I'm sure you'll like them. Enjoy and thanks for the support.
How are they vs stock. Can you see better and more or are they just for looks? I keep buying shitty aftermarket mirrors and all I can see is my arms and a very little bit of the sides when the car is up on me.
They are mostly for looks, your elbow takes up about 60% of the mirror. I think they work better than stock for what you can see for seeing cars far back when they come up on you. but if you want something that looks aesthetically better, go with these, as far as usability, check out something else. Hope this helps.
Was tightening the nut on the aftermarket mirrors.. right side last one, and the bolt snapped in half. Mirrors still tight, but a nut won't fit on to what's left. Chance it or buy new mirrors?
Alex Bernovich You can get a new one or test drive it at highway speeds and see if it comes loose. Its up to you but If it's tight I say leave it. Best of luck.
The Astronaut Biker thanks for replying so quickly two years later man! Did you have any problems installling the top pop tabs back into place? Guess I'll leave it how it is and test it. Thanks again
Alex Bernovich I never had issues. I'm still making videos I just have been really busy. I'm changing my spark plugs out tomorrow and doing my air filter which ill throw up soon. Please ask questions if you have them.
The Astronaut Biker I noticed that you took off the plastic piece to access the bolts for the mirrors. How hard would it be to take off the front headlight faring holding the windshield? Do you have to take the whole headlight off for that? i was able to take all my other fairings off but saw one too many nuts and bolts for the front fairing, so was looking for someone to guide me.
I have never taken that fairing off, but if you want to access the windscreen you don't need to access that faring. If you could tell me what exactly you are trying to do I could help you.
Fz6r ridder from Chicago. I really appreciate your videos and insight on the fz6r. great job!!😎
M Burns Thank you, if you would like to see anything else or have questions on anything please let me know. I really appreciate your support.
will do. ride safe brother ✌
Tight video.i want to change my rabbit ears too..thanks for showing how it done
Thanks.... that saved me some time and energy 👍

Glad to hear it, I hope they suit you well. Let me know how you like them.
Well, how do you like the mirrors? Hopefully they’ve come in by now.
This had me laughing😂
Nice, now im gonna do exactly what you just did, thanx for the video, 10mm

You're welcome, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Excellent video and good tutorial. So to make sure I understand this, these mirror will work for a 2011 fz6r? And the process is the same?
Swift Stiffy Yes, the 09-12 versions are the exact same. Should also be the same process. Hope it goes well and I hope you like how it turns out.
Hi AB, they give you a lot better area of view?
what windshield is that. I need one pls
I want that 2 door box chevy hard as hell to find one
Wish I could help, but I no longer live there.
I looked up what you said and I couldn't find them (that were compatiblre with my '09 FZ6R)? Could you send it to me?
hey man good video just wondering do you have a link for the mirrors? im so sick of the huge stock mirrors

Will do! Look forward to them.
Thanks
What wind screen do you have on there?
4stringsRplenty I don't know the brand, I found it on eBay. I'm sure you could search for them on eBay and find something similar.
How come the video doesn't fill the screen?
Man0fMeans I am not sure, could have something to do with the aspect ratio. I apologize for the inconvenience.
great vid, my floppy mirror bunny ears a little irksome
shawnk82 Glad you found it useful, they work about the same as the stock ones, but look way better when viewed from the front or sides.

The Astronaut Biker Thanks, i wanted to take the front fairing off for plasti dipping it. so, i would need to take it off completely.
I have never taken it off so I don't know how complicated it would be. I am sure if you do some research into it you can figure it out. Best of luck.
Thanks for the vid, do you think these mirrors will fit on a 2014 fz6r?
I don't see why not, but I would check to see if the way they are mounted are the same for the 2009 FZ6R that I have. If they are then yes. Good luck.
does anyone know if its similar process for the 2014 fz6r?
It should be the same, if it isn't it o=would be really similar. Feel free to ask more question if you have any,
why?
maddog What are you asking why about?
The Astronaut Biker ... for what purpose did you change the mirrors?
maddog The look better on the bike.
The Astronaut Biker can't tell
maddog They aren't as tall as the stucco l stock mirrors and they go out at a different angle from the bike.
Hi AB, they give you a lot better area of view?
Timothy Harris It's okay. a bit worse then the stock mirrors but they look way better.
